There have been a few turian biology questions nagging at me lately that I can't seem to find definitive answers on..

Are turians cold-blooded? They look reptilian so I assumed maybe they would be?

What about turian babies.. if they are cold-blooded, do they have "hatchlings" or is it not much different than human babies?

The claws/talons.. they don't look retractable but surely they are a nuisance for turians who prefer to use guns and the like, do you think they ever trim/dull them down? We definitely see Saren using a gun against Nihlus and his talons are pretty obvious. I wonder if this is part of why turians wear gloves actually.

These are just the random things my brain thinks about.

Since Turians are modeled after avians, I'm sure they're warm blooded. Saren just acted cold blooded :). And live births, no eggs, since the codex states that Salarians are the only major race that lays eggs.

As for claws, not sure if they grow. If their fringe does not, I would not expect their claws to, either.

Ok just finished another PT. Is Garrus the only one who doesn't tell you that giving Cerberus the Collector Base was wrong?

Garrus, Grunt, Legion, Mordin, and Zaeed all think there is merit in keeping the base.

But then after the adrenaline rush of battle wears off, I guess they remember who gets the base if you fail to destroy it because talking to them later on is like "dude, you crazy for keeping that base."

You told me to! I thought we were friends! I thought you would give me your bestest advice in my time of need, not throw me a bait and switch! Next time you must Kill a Man for Great Justice, you can do it yourself!

Garrus is the one who gives you the least flak for saving the base back on the Normandy, yes.

That's weird. (I don't keep the base but I thank my friends and youtube) However if you destroy the base, I love Garrus' line. "First Saren then the Collectors. I almost feel sorry for the Reapers." (Lol, but don't quote me on it, I think that's what he says but either way, it's something like that.)

Funny thing... I play Sims these days xD I made (human ofc) Shepard and Garrus couple and they got a son. I didn't know how I should name him o.O....soo.... I named him Saren xD yay for orginality

That's awesome. If I ever buy the Sims (and I can now, because it's not just on PC), I'll name a couple after Saren and MainShep, then name their child after the turian biotic kid I made up. Take that, laws of science. xD

They don't seem to have any trouble with it. Well, most turians have on armored gloves when they use guns, except Saren. He either has cloth gloves, or they cut off before the talons. The litho definitely looks like his gloves end before the talons, but I can't tell from any of the in-game screenshots that I've seen.

As for why they wear gloves, probably because they can accidentally hurt people with their talons. Wasn't there a Cerberus news article that mentioned a turian grabbing someone (a non-turian) by the neck and almost killing them?

Really? That's interesting news, because it's a topic that's been brought up many times here.

He's definitely the one who has the best reaction to it after the mission is over. Garrus seems a little worried, but trusts Shepard's judgement, unlike some people who totally agreed with her ten minutes ago.

I agree with this. xD But MainShep would probably still help them kill people.

Really?  We figured krogan layed eggs, or are they not "major?"

But, we speculated that turians have live births because there were twins mentioned in the CDN once.

I forget which krogan in the game mentions piles of stillbirthed babies thanks to the genophage, which led me to believe they should be having live births, not laying eggs.

Okeer.  But he also calls them a "clutch."  Which isn't what you generally call a group of live-borns.  That's usually a "litter."

I always got the impression that Krogan and turians are both warm blooded. Okeer's comment def means Krogan have babies the same way as us. Turians laying eggs? I can't see it. Hanar, maybe jellyfish like eggs, not turians...
I have my first fan fic posted up, check it out! http://www.fanfictio...eroes_never_die
Already done chapter 2 and 3, just want to see what people think first. Enjoy :)

If turians were cold blooded wouldn't they be melting on that really warm planet of theirs?

And I like the fic Tasha. Write more :)

I could swear reading something that mentioned turians are warm blooded. And being cold blooded would have probably gotten Garrus killed a thousand times over at this point anyway.

Cold-blooded means they can adapt to the temperature. Iguanas bake in the sunlight all day, for example.

But the more I think about it, the more I think warm-blooded makes sense. It takes time for a cold-blooded organism to re-adjust their internal temperature.

And the live-birth thing seems to make the most sense as well. Will have to find that CDN entry that was mentioned.

Pretty sure Krogan give birth, Wrex talked about stillbirths. Maybe we'll learn more in ME3 when we will (hopefully) be able to see female turians and krogans and the like.

Sidonis mentioned sweating, and cold blooded animals don't sweat, so they're most likely warm blooded. Unless it was a figure of speech :P

Good catch. Though I do notice turians using human expressions a lot.. I love when they get them wrong, it's so cute.

Now I'm thinking that it would also make sense if they were cold-blooded. Cold-blooded animals have long periods of inactivity to regulate their body temperature. While lizards go sunning on a warm rock, turians go calibrate guns on a main battery.

Well, they're aliens, so it doesn't necessarily have to be warm blooded or cold blooded or anything else with which we're familiar here on Earth. They could have some totally different situation going on.

Yeah, so do I...reminds me of Commander Data from Star Trek:TNG :P
And I fervently hope they continue this tradition in ME3 :wizard:

Do turians really use human expressions wrong all that often? The only one I can remember of who does that is Lorik Quinn. Are there other examples?

Not often, I think Executor Pallin used one wrong but most of the time they get it right. I find it interesting that they try so hard to understand humans.
