Oh, god. Luna, what was that one fic with Femshep/Garrus/Thane that you pointed me to? Did it ever make it off the kinkmeme?

It did, but it's over on AFF, instead.  Fluidfyre wrote it.  Trinity, I think it's called, and it's...rather racy, to put it lightly.  I believe the OP wanted "non-smutty" fic.  o.O

That wasn't for the OP, that was for my own *ahem* research...

Uh-huh XD

But yeah, I'm surely check the fics you guys linked me too.

I'm also trying to draw a little Mass Effect dabble myself, but not sure If I could pull it off. Even though I've been playing the games for a good three months now and know how some of the characters work, I'm still very new to the fandom. Also doesn't help that I'm use to writing fanfiction for more lighthearted, cartoonie titles (Ratchet and Clank being the main I write for just for the recorded).

Well, if you look at KyleTheArtist's work Romance Complications on DevianArt, it's slightly cartoony but it's still a good story. So, I wouldn't worry about something like that :)

*waves back* Hi! After excessive lurking I've come to the conclusion that people in this thread don't bite so I think that I WILL try to be brave and post more often

Yeah, we are a pretty friendly bunch. In fact, I don't recall the last time we got told off by a moderator? Very little Garrus hate going around I guess Posted Image. Join in!

I really should have hated Garrus...

Instead I love him and you guys are the friendliest. FML man, FML.

We're just irresistable like that :) I remember feeling a bit nervous at first about jumping in on a thread that already had well over 600 posts but ya'll have made me feel quite welcome here. We have some really interesting discussions and things are fairly tame (in relation to other character devotion threads). So kudos to my fellow turian lovers out there.

A lot of fanfic discussion, I see. Not much for me to comment on because I normally don't read fanfiction. I like Sable's Saren/FemShep fanfic. :) And... that's the main one, really.

I wish you guys would read mine. It isn't a romance fiction as I see many of you like but does touch upon the psychology of Garrus and his underlying low self confidence. It's partly a confrontation with something he has been avoiding, his family, and partly a story of growth.

I have a question: Why do people refer to Garrus as Space Batman?

Seriously, I'm not joking.

Between his appearance and his occupation on Omega, he's Space Batman.

I'm not sure where it originated, but it's a reference to the whole corrupt Gotham (Omega) being saved by a vigilante Batman (Garrus), and not necessarily in a way that everyone always approves of or understands.

At least, that was always my take.  Someone else feel free to add! :)

I always thought it was because Batman and Garrus share a lot of common character tropes and they are both vigilante/renegades looking out for others. They also both hover along that line of grey morality.. not quite sitting in either the dark or light side of things. Garrus' loyalty mission really reminded me of trying to save someone from talking those last few steps across that line and when he says "Grey? I don't know what to do with grey" it just sounds like something Batman would have said. And obviously they are both badasses so that helps.

That would have been my guess, Leonia. Still, I think it's a pretty hilarious (and clever) nickname. Posted Image

If Garrus is Batman, does that make the Mako his Batmobile? ;)

To be honest, I always thought that Garrus was more like Nightwing - Dick Grayson, the first Robin, a young, idealistic lad who had a crisis of identity and moved to a different city in order to adopt a new vigilante name. Good-humored and wisecracking, but with a bit of a dark side, and unwaveringly loyal to his mentor.

Sound familiar to anyone? ;)

I think you're onto something there!

But Space Batman just sounds cool.

Hey fiery! I always wondered about the batman thing, I mean, I can see it with Garrus. But Garrus as batman is EVERYWHERE!! I want to meet the person who first started of the batman thing and officially applaud him/her.

Speaking of the Mako, I have decided to get a customised registration plate on my car saying 'Mako.' Too far?

Also means Garrus can calibrate with me in the Mako...

And hello co-author widowspeak/luna!! Kudos for your sexcellent work and a high-five for knowing all fanfics involving handcuffs!

Yes, I believe getting a licence plate with the word mako in it would probably be too far. Totally awesome sure, but too far.

Kinda like watching a guy get plastered drunk then doing several awesome break dancing moves.

Hehe! I guess it is a bit of money for a joke that no one will get! Yeah, maybe a bit too far. However, my geekiness comes in handy for scaring away unwanted guys? Also, I asked a question a bit ago that I phrased really badly, so I will try again (just to keep the thread on topic to Garrus.)

Why didn't Garrus stick with the spectre training? It fit with what he wanted to do, he wouldn't have to wrry about the red tape, but he still waltzed off to become a vigilante on Omega.

Why not just re-apply to be a spectre? I'm sure he would have gotten the position?

The way I see it is that he didn't feel like working for the Council after they decended on everything Shepard had worked for like vultures. She died because they sent her to fight geth when the real threat was Reapers and then they just buried everything they had worked for. Garrus being Garrus would never want to work for a Council like that. Especially not if it's the same council who just kept stonewalling Shepard while they were hunting for Saren.

So he went off and tried to make the galaxy a better place in his own way.

It's funny what the Council did after ME1. According to Admiral Hackett's dossier from LOTSB (as well as this piece of CDN), the Council apparently was considering imprisoning Shepard after the Battle of the Citadel; instead, they sent her off to fight geth, where she was ambushed out of nowhere and killed. Not to mention Hackett's dossier seems to hint that the Alliance / Council still maintains interrogating Shepard and even considers it crucial.

Actually, I think Hackett's dossier was regarding Shepard and Cerberus after her "resurrection". I do think that the Council wants to arrest her though. Stupid idiots. As long as I get to say "Ah yes, Reapers"

I lost a day or so of my life to that fic, all thanks to Luna.  She's sort of my filter half the time.  I'll get home from work and I'll hear, "There's this new fic you HAVE to go read."  That's how I found Persephone Rising (which I find freaking awesome, and a breath of fresh air.  It's like reading Mass Effect as written by David Weber.  And I REALLY need to get back over there and catch up.), and also how I get pointed to almost EVERY masskink fill I've ever read.

*faints*

Seriously?  You like us, you really like us?  And David Weber?  Really?  *faints again*

That's correct, Aeowyn. Sorry for the confusion. It's the news that says the Council originally wanted to arrest Shepard after the Battle of the Citadel, not the dossier. But anyhow, at this point, Shepard is more or less rogue in the Council's books. Ever since killing Vasir (a Spectre on duty), I've been "hunching" something unpleasant happening to poor Shep. She's almost Saren 2.0 as of Lair of the Shadow Broker.

That's an interesting way to describe Shep, but I'm pretty sure I agree.  Even a fully paragon shep tends to have "Screw you" moments with the council.  And I /do/ know what you mean about Vasir.  She all but hinted that the Council would be fine with her killing you in the line of duty.

Then again, outside of giving you permission to be a spectre in the terminus (if you took that route), they don't sanction your actions anyway.

They're like all good governments with black-ops missions, they're completely focused on 'plausable deniability."

@Aowyn:  You know, I killed the Council on accident in my first playthrough, then about DIED when I met back up with them the second time and got that line.  It was like, "Now I get the 'airquotes' line.  LOL

Oh good lord...

YES, I like it, Silly!  I just haven't had a chance to get over and read yet.  LOL since chapter 6.

I'll read one-shots if I have time, inbetween chaps of the other stuff, but the fics that are longer and I really want to give detailed reviews to I save for when I have bigger chunks of time.  Yours is one of those.  It's a unique angle covered by three talented writers, and that gets you props.  Posted Image
