Thanks for posting that! I was going to try to look that up after it was mentioned before.

"Optimizing weapons charges. Planning attack vectors. You know, relaxing."

See, it's phrases like that that reinforce the image of our young turian as a tech geek. No pocket protector or nerd glasses required.

Though there is that eyepiece...

Thanks for posting that, BTW.  And why doesn't it surprise me that Stephi is the original author?  LOL.

I like Alistair. But he is too much like any of my real life friends for me to have a romance with him, I am a Zev gal, but realise that I am in the minority... So yeah, I hope they don't do that to Garrus. But his character is infinitely different to Alistair's so I'm sure they won't pull that one on us.

They both have a wicked sense of humour, but Garrus is more of a leader and mature. Yeah, they are both awkward when it comes to the charming warden/Shepard who seems to have everyone falling on their knees for them.

But Garrus is in a completely different situation, and that is why he is awkward. I imagine that if Garrus was a human (but please stay a turian, you rock that way) then he would be much more confident in a relationship to Shepard.

@ Misty, yeah I noticed that. But Garrus is from Palaven, so it makes me think that turians tattoos may be based on the family as opposed to what planet a turian was born on. Although Garrus secretly being royalty would be fun ;)

That's actually the explaination I'm running with in the next chapter.  That's why I had all that info at hand, because of all the research that had to be done.  I'm considering them Vakarian markings and calling it a day, until Bioware gives us more.  :D

Edit for reply: And thanks for the research. Facial tattoos look hot on Garrus. And it's a shame ME1 didn't have pics for each of the turians insignia's that you find. Maybe I am just picky, but there is still lots that we don't know about turian culture, especially when compared to the asari, for example.

Way too much we don't know.  Even Drew didn't give us crap in any of the books.  Here's to hoping the latest round of comics gives us more, considering the initial setting of Shanxi.

In the meanwhile, I'll keep basing them off Spartans.  LOL.

"THIS IS... Palaven?"

Ah, Spartans... They should have been Krogan...

Thanks for posting that Hyrule gal, the first part of that convo is one I have never listened to before. I don't know how it eluded me, when it is right there in the game, but it did.

well, according to Devs the turian species was developed on one of Heinlein's creations, which in turn was based on the spartans...LOL.  I know, it's cheating, but what can I say?

When it comes down to it, I think it matters on how you see it.

Personally, if you never got the hint yet with my question about fanfics earlier, I'm a pretty big Fem!ShepxGarrus fan. One of the reasons is that they been though a lot together and, won't lie, I have a love for interspecies relationships.

My only problem I found in ME2 is that I wish the dialogue was better written. I found it to be a little too much 'friends with benefits' , but at the same time, it isn't like they don't care about eachother. Garrus seems to worry about her, and vise versa. I just wish the expanded a bit more, there's just tons you can do.

I just hope ME3, they grow on it more and not just make it a thing in the past. Otherwise, they'll have an angry mob of fangirls.

Honestly?  Things like ^ are the reason that "Partners, Comrades, Friends" came into being.  It just seemed like from ME1 Garrus was too in awe to really say what he thought around Shep, and ME2 Garrus is a freaking smart-ass with a sense of humor.  I love the change, but it seemed VERY abrupt to me.  You don't pull out lines like the 'scars' line around people you don't know will be okay with the joke.  This paints a friendship that they never stressed before, and a history, and I was curious how that could have developed.

There is definitely a large amount of mutual respect and caring shown between the two, even if you play a male-shep.  Most male players /I/ know consider Garrus their buddy-cop companion.   and even they weren't happy with the dialogue options for their shepard.

I really hope that they don't screw us over in ME3 somehow, and we get a REAL shot at a relationship, even with the fate of the galaxy at stake.  It'd be nice to have a little 'calm before the storm.'

My shep is a sniper girl, Garrus' human twin.

I also see the buddy-cop relationship, no matter what gender your Shepard is. Also see the 'teacher/student' relationship as well. Garrus looks up to him/her and such.

And I do hope the same for ME3, but at the same time keeping in character. I don't see him the 'lovely-dovey' romantic type, even how hard he tries to be.

See, it's phrases like that that reinforce the image of our young turian as a tech geek. No pocket protector or nerd glasses required.

Like that wasn't obvious already. B)

We were discussing something similar on the Thane thread. I felt that I didn't appreciate Thane's character until I made a playthrough for him (and I had to tear myself away from the main batteries) that I began to appreciate his character. So I used Garrus an example, and pointed out that there is a great relationship whether you romanced him or not, and that his character is still fully developed in both options too. Ah, Garrus rocks in so many different ways!

On my way home from work I realized something I don't get with Garrus' change of character and it's the whole "oh apparently he had a stick up his ass". I never got that impression of him in ME1. I just saw him as a confused cop who wants justice but doesn't know which direction to take to get there.

I think that was just Joker's opinion.  Maybe Garrus didn't get his sense of humor in ME1.

So. ME2 comes out for the PS3 today. I have it reserved, naturally. (For the unfamiliar, I'm a counter jockey at GameStop when I'm not writing or fangirling.) I was looking forward to seeing our favorite crew (and more specifically, our favorite vigilante) in all their Blu-Ray glory....

BUT THAT COMIC. UGH!

If you've not seen it, I'll try to grab some screenies I saw day before last, and share. Suffice it to say, it's bad enough that it is making me seriously reconsider my decision to pick up my copy or just get my money back. I mean, WTF, Dark Horse? Turians without leg spurs? Wrex with a smushed up face? Liara with scary-looking eyes and boobs that look like they're about to jump out and clobber me?

What are you talking about? She beautiful is as she is also intelligent!

(I totally love Liara but you can only pull off lines like that in this voice.)

Oh, I love Liara to bits.  (I know it's an unpopular opinion in some parts, but I don't care.)

But...come ON:

Yeah... no character came out of that comic looking good.

I am officially, as of right now, refusing to acknowledge that thing's existence.

And the messed up part is, if you listen to the first few lines (even when they're spoken by Meer), your initial thought is, "Hell yeah, this is gonna be GREAT!"

...then it all falls apart less than 60 seconds into it. I am disappoint, BioWare.

EDIT:  Seriously, with lines like these:

"Just another routine mission.  Why do they always say that before a mission?  Of course it's routine...you haven't done anything yet!"

and

"Of course...that's how it started; a routine mission, answering a distress call.  And look where that got me."

It had so much potential for greatness.  All gone the minute he calls Kaidan Alenko, "a good kid."

The comics that have come out of DH for BW have been horrific. I refuse to purchase any future comics or books because of how bad they've been. D;

Also: Thanks for the find, Hyrule_Gal. That's not a line of dialogue I've heard before...for obvious reasons, I think. XD

Jillyfae, Sapphy and I have been kicking around the idea of writing a new version. I already have a beginning planned. "You've heard the 'official story' of the routine mission that went sideways. Here's what really happened."

*blink*

*blink*

This. MUST. happen!  *fangirl flail*

EDIT:

And I figured out what else is bothering me about this digital comic: SHEP IS MONOLOGUING.

I'd want to see (hear) some smart ass comments from Joker or Ashley,or deadpan straight-man lines from Kaidan or Wrex (after they've been brought up in the "story," obviously), like you do on a DVD commentary track.
