Am I alone in actually liking the no top fringe? >.>

...It's possible. xD

I don't like it because it goes against what was implied from the game dialogue and Codex. That, and it reminds me of a batarian from the side-view.

I just had a strange thought. What if Solana (Garrus' sister) ends up looking like fringeless Garrus? o_o

Oi..

I always imagined the females had different colouration than the males. Like maybe she has his eyes but she is tinted blue or purple instead of tinted green-grey? Gosh I don't want to think about Solana or Mama Vakarian without fringes.

It is hard to judge what Solana will look like without knowing how big a difference there is in the appearances of their parents. I was thinking in more of a general "that fringe length with those tattoos" kind of way. And I wouldn't like it either. I'd like to see fringe that extends a little past the back of the head and possibly curved (because bachelor party turian compares it to asari headcrests).

Man, I was hoping it would have some kind of fringe, even if the fringe is more melded with the head shape.

But the bald look... looks really really odd. It looks like a bald human wearing a mask.

I dunno, I don't hate the design. I would like some plate protection for their heads, maybe wider and flatter plates so the males still like a bit more showy/pretty. But the plates to the side of her head do look different to what males have there, so maybe that's what Garrus was talking about, still doesn't explain the bachelor party turian unless he's into guys >_>

But my main grumble is I would have preferred females not look that different to the males since the ratio of male to female in turians is the same as humans it just makes you wonder where the frick they've been all this time? I'd rather think they were there the whole time and we just couldn't tell then have them noticeably absent.

Wow, lots of anger over the fringe. Who would'a thunk that a hairstyle (headstyle, whatever) could rally the Garrus fans?

I'm...getting used to it. Just like I had to get used to Morrigan's ridiculous outfit, or the new horns for the qunari. It'll just take some adjusting, I think.

I would have liked wider and flatter plates, and shorter too. Something that covers the head and looks similar in length or shape to the asari because that's what bachelor party turian compared it to. (By the way, bachelor party turian does like women. He said that there weren't many turian women around, so he didn't want the guys to ruin asari for him.)

I don't want that at all. It didn't bother me that we've only seen the males, even though I was curious to see the females. Taking the males and suddenly saying some are female would just be strange. Anderson could tell them apart somehow.

@Sable: You had the same reaction as me (I'm getting used to it) before I looked at it again from the side and was reminded of a batarian. xD But I like everything else. No Saren yet, although there is an awesome turian who reminds me of him.

Ah I forgot that was the same turian who said that.

The main reason I was happy thinking some of the turians in ME 1&2 were female was when asked about the lack of female aliens in ME 1 Casy Hudson responded with
"Interesting question about the female aliens. Who's to say that the aliens you've met so far weren't female?"
Which I still took as a bad excuse for not including them and if it were true never having any reffered to as female in dialogue despite not being able to tell visualy. But yeah the lack of female aliens in the games (then adding male quarians in ME2 because walking into the floatilla and not seeing any men would be weird) has been an irksome point for me

Meh, and now I have to get used to elves being taller than humans in DA. It's a weird sort of day isn't it?

But yeah, I was hoping female turians would be close to their male counterparts so they wouldn't be "missing" for the first two games.

That's interesting, I hadn't seen that quote before. I prefer being able to tell the difference though, even if one doesn't necessarily look more masculine or feminine than the other, because fringe length wouldn't really change that. It's just that we would be able to tell the difference and know what traits were considered "masculine" or "feminine" to other turians. The female turian's waist looks about the same as everyone else's in the comic too, and I had expected them to be wider (because really, anything more thin than turians in-game could just start looking unrealistic), but I don't mind that much. I find it strange that the one female we were shown looks closer to a human or batarian male.

All of that is just opinion though. I wouldn't have said much about it if the picture fit what was implied by the game dialogue and Codex. I mostly care about Saren and TIM's personalities being done right. If they mess that up, then I'll be annoyed and dismiss it as uncanon. They've done well with TIM so far, and they have a turian (Desolas) who's close enough to Saren's personality that I know they can write a character like him, so I'm hopeful. Too bad more people didn't get to read the comic yet, because I liked everything else about it.

Yeah I actually wasn't planning on buying the comic but saw it in a store today and just bought it on impulse and I'm liking it for the most part (though I really hope the "maybe it's FULLY EVOLVED" quote is the character not understanding evolution rather then the writers not understanding that evolution -does not work like that-) I'll be picking up the 2nd issue to see where it's going. And for more Turians of course.

True.. which we could sort of guess from Garrus' "Your waist is..very supportive" line (I always imagine this is when he notices that Shepard has boobs).

I was hoping that too.

But just pondering about it the new look, i'll wait and see the game renderings of the female turians before I start disliking the design. Dark Horses Comics like to exaggerate the turian look.

I wasn't completely sure what he meant by that line either, but I think that's just TIM's point-of-view. It could be something completely simple, like the idea that something larger, stronger, and more resistent to injury is more "evolved." The first thing I thought of was the fact that it's probably Reaper tech and Saren saying  the implants from Sovereign gave him the strength of both organics and synthetics with none of the weaknesses, but TIM doesn't know anything about the relic. It'll probably be explained better in volume two when they go into more detail about what exactly they found.

And there's this cut line also that confirms that turians are not used to deal with human-like breasts.

Btw... I like the idea of having sexual dimorphism between males and females and makes the turian girls fringless is not the worst solution. The problem seems to be more the drawing themselves... that female looks more masculine than a the others turians  And also, they've got all that "we're the bad guuuys!!!!" expression on their faces... damn, this is Mass Effect, not Halo: turians started a war for legitim worries about an unknown alien species, they don't wanna genocide humans because of phanatism or so...

I wonder why they decided to cut that line. Unless development team changed the design at last minute or choppy animations. (the only reason why I think why they would cut the line)

And I also got the impression that the turian females looked more masculine as well, especially with the drapped clothes.

The guy in the dialogue seems tragically drunk, so I guess they remade the dialogue to make him a bit more serious. But surely the original line were funnier...

I thought the turian female's outfit looked more feminine. And the main problem have with females being fringeless is that it has a reason to be there... radiation protection. How could they evolve to be protected from radiation and then not protect their head? xD

I like all of the turian facial expressions though. Desolas has a face like Saren - it doesn't matter what he's thinking, he'll look like he's grinning at you most of the time. And everyone knows I like Saren's appearance. All of the others seem to have normal expressions for what's going on at the time.

Wasn't the whole turian skin and not only the scales evolved to be a natural anti-radiaton shield? Or I'm wrong?

I'm pretty sure it's just the metallic plates. Their skin is thicker than humans, but probably not enough to give them much more protection than we have.

It's said that their skin doesn't offer than any natural armour.. I assume the plating and carapace bits are what developed to tolerate the Palaven sun. I wonder if turians who grow up far away from Palaven are slowly losing the plating since they are no longer evolving in high radiation areas? Sort of like how humans are losing their appendix and baby toes.
