Wait, I thought the turian national anthem was "Die for the Cause". Otherwise good job :)

 I'm researching.

EDIT: "Die for the Cause" (turian imperial anthem) - as labeled by LotSB SB files.

"Stars Behind Me," appears to be just a turian anthem and the original post is fixed

·         The turian military force has at least (probably way more) six dreadnoughts

I’d like to point out that I would caution against taking this information as “seriously” as say, the official codex. This is all from the CDN, and I don’t have a clue who on the BW chain writes the articles, how much they know, how involved they are in lore, etc.. I have noticed some inconsistencies,( as Aeowyn pointed out, the national anthem, for one).

I started taking notes from the CDN when I realized I didn’t know enough information to satisfactorily write about turians. Like I said, this is ONLY the info from the CDN, there’s probably a lot more that could be said about each bullet that was posted, but I just wrote what they gave me.

I used this information to give me a better “feel” for turians and nothing more.

The outpouring of support for the turian victims of the Vallum Blast has reached across the Milky Way. “Today, the whole galaxy bleeds blue,” said Earth’s European Union’s Prime Minister Hertz. On Thessia, Matriarch Tiala ordered the Serrice Republican Guard to play the turian anthem “Stars Behind Me” during their changing of the guard, an act last performed during the Krogan Rebellions after the turians lost Uchalda. The quarian Migrant Fleet made no symbolic gestures, but are sending two dozen cruisers to Taetrus packed with emergency supplies. The Salarian Union, meanwhile, is donating heavy moving equipment: state-of-the-art construction-grade vehicles that use mass effect fields to alleviate secondary collapses when digging through rubble.

It doesn't have to be an inconsistency. “Stars Behind Me” is a national anthem - of a single colony/planet, possibly Taetrus, and "Die for the Cause" is the imperial anthem - of the hierarchy as a whole.

I just have to say, though it's already been said before:

"If you were turian, I'd be complimenting your waist or your fringe, so your, uh... hair... looks... good... and your waist is... very supportive."

The comic rendering of female turians has to be an error.  They look awful without the fringe anyway.

God Bless America is an anthem.  It is not our National Anthem, that's the Star Spangled Banner.  Anthem just means symbolic song.

/delurksAwesome collection of information you have there. :)But the reason why I'm here.... Could anyone provide me with some pictures from Omega? I need some good pics that could be used as a background for my picture that I'm currently painting. Somewhere near Afterlife would be great.
Here's a sneakpeek of the picture I'm working with, I'm sure you can guess who I'm drawing.

Hey guys, if anyone still wandering around in that Female Turians thread? It went from actual discussion to 'ewww bestiality' and 'this LI is better.' I was thinking about PMing a moderator because it is getting hugely derailed and kind of offensive but I don't even know how to go about that. Augh I'm such a fandom newbie.

A couple people in there are trolls who come out of the woodwork periodically. Just ignore it, and rest assured that the Cheeto-fingered poopsock jockeys who won't shut up about bestiality are probably the ones who find real bestiality fascinating.

Anyway.

Mresa, I love that picture you posted.

Augh I know. I PMd Pacifen, because it just went downhill so quickly. Just.. in the space of one page.

I should just give up and have all Turian-type discussion here, haha. Awesome list of facts on the previous page btw, I missed most of those Cerberus Daily News bits. The military tactics (execution squads and `safe camps`) made me sad face. I like that Bioware doesn`t make their characters/races out to be so extremely good or extremely evil, that there are lots of gray areas.

That stuff was particularly interesting to me, as was reading the parts about turian suicide.

But something to note, the "safe camps" really sounded like they were exactly what they were supposed to be. As I read it, turians attempt to get anyone who will surrender to these camps where they provide shelter, food, safety etc. and then kill anyone who won't join/resists. Part of the "total war" mentality. I didn't get the impression that the "safe camps" were really concentration camps in disguise.

I just noticed that the picture of Abrudas (turian female) with one "eyebrow" lifted was posted here. It's one of those turian expressions that's really adorable. Saren did the same thing on Virmire. :)

Thanks for the information about the timeline, guys. So maybe if they've had a couple thousand years for the evolution to happen, a variation like that could be possible? Turians could also have a faster rate of evolution than humans, for all we know. Alien biology. I really like this evolution theory. It helps make sense out of something that seems to contradict canon. (I find it amusing that humans are the species that are considered special because of how well they adapt, but turians are the ones who actually evolved a cool metal exoskeleton to protect from stuff humans had to find cures for. xD)

magenator wrote...

I was wondering, would turians really lose there plating just because they weren't being radiated? I mean not having it doesn't really help them survive so why would they lose them?

Well, it wouldn't help them, but if they were living on a planet without the high levels of radiation, it wouldn't hurt them either. If the no fringe really is just a natural variation, like the different fringe of turians like Saren, then it's just something they're born with - turians on Palaven could just be a lot less likely to survive with it, and after thousands of years, the turians who carry those genes are around much less (possibly not at all) on Palaven, but much more common in the colonies. At least, I hope that's what happened and it's not just someone forgetting about the radiation problem.

Mr Heatsink wrote...

Also anyone think that turian on the front cover could be Sarens brother?

It's hard to say because that exact scene was never shown in the comic. If the turian TIM's aiming the gun at is Desolas, he definitely looks like Saren, and I would be surprised if he wasn't related to or inspired by Saren. If Desolas is his brother, then he's either really awesome and gets promoted young just like Saren, or the age difference is bigger than I thought. Desolas is a General, but it from what I remember, no one called him "General Desolas" to let us know if that's his last name. He told TIM to call him "Desolas" instead of "turian", and TIM found out later that he was a General. Abrudas also referred to him by name without title. So... it's possible, but there's no way to know.

@Squeeze the Fish: Great list of information from the CDN. I didn't know half of those things. It's really cool that turians have a ceremony for tier promotion and all the different types of duels they have. The turian suicide and "laying to rest" ceremonies both make me think of Saren (after his brother died, young Saren at the ceremony).

And while everyone on Thessia was spilling crocodile tears, quarians were almost the only ones who did something concrete to help. Yes, they're really a race of thieves and useless people [/sarcasm]
