I remember doing a playthrough where I recruited Garrus first, so I had Jacob and Miranda with me. I went splitsies and left Jacob with Garrus (because I was on insanity, and Miranda is much better in combat.) Jacob says:
I'm not so sure it's a good idea...
Why is that Jacob? Also he has something against Thane. Bah!

Garrus and Thane sniping. Love it. I love using sniper rifles, amazing weapons. But Garrus does steal my shot, but he I guess he calls my shots 'impressive.' So I guess I can forgive him.

Jacob... despite not looking at FemShep "like that" unless she persues him like a drunken cheerleader on prom night, seems to have a personality conflict with his "rivals."
It seems to be more prevalent with Garrus than with Thane.
I acutally like Jacob, but that's a bit passive aggressive.

Looking for a full length 3D/ HQ image of Garrus, I want to make a Mag cover like the one I did for Miranda, maybe a different mag. Please PM it to me as I don't always follow the thread here.
Example:
Ooo...that is absolutely lovely. Unfortunately I have been very lax about screencapping on my machine, so I can't help you other than to provide support and say I look forward to the Garrus version once it's done!

You know, that's true now that I think about it. I couldn't figure out why Jacob gets snippy with Garrus and Thane when it seems IMO weird for someone so laid-back. (His attitudes during Tali's recruitment and Legion's "salvaging" are pretty understandable.)
The problem is that Garrus and Thane don't do it back. They're both perfectly professional toward each other and Jacob. So instead of turning out as the lovely escapist fantasy where three badass men duke it out for heart of fair Shepard, it just comes off as Jacob being a bit of a ******.

Looks like Saren WILL be making an appearance in Evolution.
It's interesting that Saren said the war is over, but as far as I know, his brother is still alive. Maybe the "official" war is over, but tests on that artifact are still going on. Judging by later cover images, they'll show the artifact again. Saren's brother might have been killed after the war was declared over, but fights was still happening. When they said that Saren's brother died in the war, that could be what the turians put in a file somewhere to keep any business about the artifact secret.
Thanks for posting this.
It must be the Sarendoctrination. xD It's getting stronger. At first, people were just starting to like Saren... now you made banners for me, Aeowyn made one of those animated image things (what are they called?), and Sable wrote a Saren/FemShep fanfic.kimprobable wrote...
Kim Shepard!! You are warping my brain! I saw this, and thought, "Oooh, handcuffs and Saren!" Disquieting. xP
I wasn't the only one who thought it was funny when Saren called Eva "your female" (to TIM), right?

Can you really say it isn't realistic though? He pulls the macho man, no strings attached bull from the beginning, only admitting his feelings for Shepard if you call him out on it during the romance scene. So really, we already knew he was a bit of a shmuck. Garrus is painfully awkward, Thane's dying, Kaidan needs to be smacked, and Jacob you have to force to open up. Otherwise, they'd be perfect, and that would just be silly. Jacob definitely strikes me as more hotheaded than the rest - I'm not surprised he's the only one to get an attitude. (And thats part of why I like him!)
@Kim Shepard - The movement is growing! *goes to find the FemShep/Saren fic.*

It's on masskink. And I've been lax in updating it, partially because I've written myself into a bit of a difficult corner, and partially because I've been busy. Why did I decide taking on a challenge was a good idea?
And as for Jacob, I wouldn't say he's "hotheaded." That's a personality trait I'd apply to Garrus, and not really to anyone's romance. I'd say Jacob's...stand-offish. Toward the new recruits, even toward Shepard. In some ways, he's even more cautious than Kaidan can be in ME1. He and Kaidan can be bros in ME3, all cautious and sensible and stable together

As for Jacob, I'm quite indifferent to him really. He's honest, but too clipped. He is not nearly as dynamic as the other characters, which is probably why he isn't very popular.
And KimShepard, congratulations!
I will have to read the comics before I start getting Sarendoctrinated

Hmmmm, I dunno. I still think he's a bit rash, but maybe that's just how he comes across to me. I do totally see where you are coming from - he's very well adjusted. And yes, standoffish. And maybe you are changing my mind because the idea of Jacob and Kaidan paling around is absolutely adorable. (But then, Kaidan is a cutie patootie in pretty much every instance, even when he is breaking my Shep's heart.

Jacob: 'Sup?
Kaidan: I see the new Normandy's got some upgrades.
Jacob: Kasumi even installed a bar. For all those times Shepard sends us to certain death.
Kaidan: If I had a drink for each time Shepard did that, I'd be on the liver transplant list.
Jacob: I should probably introduce you to the rest of the crew. But they can be a little--uh--
Kaidan: Crazy?
Jacob: ...how'd you know?
Kaidan: You're serving with Shepard. How could the crew be anything but?

You mean the dialogue that happens if you don't bring Garrus on the mission? I thought the Wiki had it, but when I checked, it wasn't there. I've always brought him along, so I've never heard it.Dengarde wrote...
Sup all. Anyone know where I can find the dialog for Garrus's mission with Dr. Saleon in ME1? I know there's something he says if you kill Saleon instead of him during the renegade path, but for the life of me I can't find it...

I do wonder, though. Is that the consensus? That Garrus and Shepard, as a couple, continue to fight the malevolent even after the reapers are defeated?

Depends on the Shepard. I think my FemShep and Garrus would...until he gets her to stop and take a breather. Of the two of them, Garrus is the one who has an idea of what a baseline normal life is like. My FemShep can only remember fighting and struggling for survival (Earthborn/Sole Survivor) all her life. She has no idea what it's like to NOT fight.

Garrus: Don't you think it's about time you took a break?
Earthborn Ruthless: A break? When people are trying to kill me? That's not likely to happen.
Garrus: No one's trying to kill you. I think you killed them all...
Earthborn Ruthless: Great! Someone should throw me a party before the next round shows up.
Saren: Garrus, people have been trying to kill this guy for his whole life. Don't even try.
Garrus: But--
Saren: Just sit back and watch him blow up slaver ships. Dextro popcorn?
Garrus: *sigh* All right.

Replace "Saren" with "Miranda," and that's pretty much how it turns out for my Earthborn/Sole Survivor. But she's not as bad as your Ruthless Shep, and I'd like to think that some day she'll be able to have a breather. SHE may not have had a normal life, and most of her crew's family life is...far from stellar. But she has an inkling of what it might be like from talking to more normal squaddies like Ash.
It might be harder for the Earthborn Shep who has known nothing but violence and struggle all his/her life, but I could see Colonist or Spacer Sheps settling down a little once all's said and done.
