I don't think it's a slipup. Some of his team knew his identity: Sidonis recognized his name. The wife either already knew as well, or Garrus explained who he was in the message he sent her. Aria is probably just assuming they didn't know.

Ah. I didn't think about the message he sent. It would sort of make sense for him to explain why the "Archangel" was leaving Omega instead of carrying on. If she didn't already know who he was that is.

Thanks for the response!Posted Image

also "Archangel" was just a nickname the locals gave him. He tells u this upfront when u meet for the first time in omega and ask about the name.

"its, uh *ahem*, just Garrus to you."

That's true, if the locals gave that name to Garrus... it would be strange if his team actually called him that. Maybe Aria didn't know? As for the teammate's wife, I think she just didn't want Garrus to know she worried about him. It would be like even more of a burden to the poor guy, who already blames himself. Not sure if I described that very well.

I would have liked the option to talk with Garrus about it, but not let him know the conversation was brought on by a letter. Shepard's dealt with the death of teammates, no matter what his/her background is. It would be nice to tell him that what happened wasn't his fault.

I know what you mean, I just wanted to say something like. "Garrus you did what you thought was right, that's all that anyone can ever ask of you."

Yeah, something like that would have been perfect. Technically, it wouldn't even have to be an extra conversation. Just an extra line from Shepard and Garrus. Most, if not all, of the guilt discussion revolved around killing Sidonis. My Shepard's go the Renegade route on his loyalty mission, so they wouldn't talk to him about guilt for killing Sidonis... but talking about his team would make sense.

Haha! I never knew that line existed either, but back onto Garrus. No trap romance because it is Shepard coming onto Garrus rather than the other way round. I don't think anny other LI's are like this (apart from Jacob, but that is more like Shep just gagging for it.)

ME1 requires Shep to beat the LIs over the head with the sledgehammer of DO NOT WANT.

ME2 requires Shep to beat the LIs over the head with the sledgehammer of DO WANT NOW.

I prefer the ME2 approach, but it's like saying I prefer common colds to violent food poisoning.  I don't really like either, but I suppose one's less bad than the other.

I like Shepard starting the romances in an obvious way best. Actually, I'll probaby like the way DA2 does it best, with icons that let you know which dialogue choices are romance-related. Whatever keeps my character from being trap-romanced, aside from simply not talking with anyone who's a romance option.

I doubt telling him it wasn't his fault would've made him feel any better, he'd probably just disagree. The codex says turians have a stigma about giving people responsabilities they're not ready to handle. In this case, Sidonis is guilty for betraying the team, but from a turian perspective, Garrus is also at fault for putting him in that position, hence him saying he should've seen it coming.

I don't think it would make him feel completely guilt-free, but it would make him feel better. If there's one person he'll believe no matter what, it's Shepard. He also thought the right thing to do was kill Sidonis, unless Shepard makes him reconsider. The advice of someone he trusts and respects can go a long way.

Not as funny as telling her you're going to "drop kick her back into that volcano" when she gets mad at you for solving her years of research.

Where is this line? O_O I must see it. (Yes, I'm still bitter about the romance trap. I worked on that playthrough for months.)

You have to get Liara after you do EVERY main mission (including Virmire) so hers is the last one left before Ilos. Not only will she go a bit crazy down in the mines (hallucinating LOL) she will also get pissy that you have all the answers to her research when you get back on the Normandy.  You tell her that you know reapers are behind the protheon extinction and the other squaddies chime in and mention your beacon visions and that you met an actual reaper. Liara can't believe all her research has been a waste since all the answers just fell into your lap, she says "It's not fair!". That's when you can reply as a renegade Posted Image

Haha! I'm doing an ME1 playthrough now, so I'll try that. Never done it before.

I think Liec hit the nail on the head when you said about the turian sense of responsibility, Garrus gave Sidonis that freedom and responsibility, but he abused it and betrayed the team for money. In turian society, if the leader (which Garrus is over Sidonis) promotes someone above their capabilities, then the leader (or whoever is responsible for that individual) is the one with the blame laid on their head.

Of course, Garrus' circumstances are different, so he wouldn't get demoted/told off.

As for the wife's email, I imagine that his squad all called him Garrus, but as just_mike said, the locals called him archangel. The wife (and his crew) may not have known anything about Garrus' background, his motivations or his past, but they probably knew his name. So it makes sense for the squadmate's wife to know Garrus by name, and his email to her would have revealed that she thought he blamed himself for their deaths.

True, but I would also assume that most, if not all of his team started off as said locals, so maybe most of them never knew him as anything other than Archangel.

From his dialog about how he got a team, it sounds like he started acting on his own and then attracted people later on.

It's not fangirlish as in squeeing louder than every post in the Alistair thread. It's good fangirling, and it is a brilliant excuse to get to know him!

Uh huh... I only rarely post in the Zev thread, apart from that I don't post in the DA forums.

Garrus! Because it has been too long since my favourite fanart (so far) as been posted!

I peeked in today because of the new gameplay video.  SO EXCITED.  My evil mage is gonna school some fools.  But other than that, I do avoid the DA forums.  They get more than a bit scary, and not the good insane kind of scary.
