Calibrations: Garrus Love and Turian Discussion

The lyrics for 21 Guns really don't mesh all that well with my Renegade!Shepard/Garrus, but I liked the song, so I made it into a Garrus vid.
But if there's a song who's lyrics remind me of Steph Shep and Garrus? Leave out all the rest.
Only other song I've equated to a character was Just Breathe for Thane... but yea. I used that for a vid. xD

My only advice would be to wait until later in the game to do the side quests with important Paragon/Renegade choices like that. MaleShep chooses a lot of Neutral responses, but when you get some main missions out of the way, your Paragon/Renegade scores will definitely go up. The decisions at the end of Feros and Noveria give big increases to your scores. I know there was a big difference MaleShep's Paragon bar after he saved the colonists, and again with the rachni queen.Aricle wrote...

How much Paragon/Renegade did you have? I'm just curious because my MaleShep killed the scientist for Toombs just fine, and he only had 60% Paragon and 40% Renegade before Ilos. He was on NG+ though, so his Charm/Intimidate got completely maxed out at some point in that playthrough, if it makes a difference.
It's a new PT with a new Shepard, w/ all the bonuses from most achievements applicable (inc. xp etc). I haven't done much; trying to get more gear and skills before tackling Noveria or Feros-- charm and intimidate almost maxed. So far, twice as much P as R but I'm talking in the low bars at the start of the meter. I am sad/frustrated when I have no choice but some completely useless neutral remark, thus seeing Burns executed (reloaded and leaving until later) or watching Toombs kill himself after shooting the scientist. I don't want to break the persona but it seems like I need to start doing some bad stuff or get angelic. Kind of stalling out here, if the outcomes are all going to be ineffective comments. Any advice?
Yeah, my answer got lost in here. xD I'm playing each Shepard through ME1 and then ME2 right after. MaleShep was almost up to ME2 before Liara decided that I have to go back and recruit her last now. The Tali romance will have to wait.Oh, and my question or your answer got buried somewhere in here:
you said you have 15 Shepards and only have played ME2 once? Are you playing each of the 15 through ME1 before playing ME2 again?

I call that wanting to give her a way out to avoid any chance of it ended up being an awkward situation. I've always viewed the Garrus/Shepard romance as being in a casual stage but stemming from a decidedly deep friendship. There are worries and second-guessing. Deep friendships do not always translate into the best romances, and I can see someone terrified that taking the next step will ruin something special they already had. One of the most heart-wrenching experiences I've had is not a relationship gone bad, but the loss of someone who had been a good friend before the failed romantic relationship ruined it all.
But even if you interpret it that way, those are emotions clearly beyond "let's just blow off steam together". The relationship has meaning, even if it's from the preexisting friendship.
You get bonus points for mentioning Pink Floyd. Now I'm going to go listen to The Final Cut. Ooh, I bet there's a good one for Garrus in there.

I've never actually heard The Final Cut...

I know. I just find the emotions come from a different place beyond strong romantic feelings. I can understand how people interpret his reaction if you (Shock!Horror!) actually turn him down during the final romance scene as being gutted at the rejection. I can even understand how his comment to see something go right for once hints at a desire for an honest romance in his life.Nilfalasiel wrote...

My own interpretation is uncertainty leading up to the romantic scene. Disappointment if you reject him. And a desire for a final moment of peace with someone he cares about right before a mission in which death is a high possibility.

Gah, the last time I created ASCII art (without cheating) was when I created a scene of a panda among a forest of bamboo. And that was a side project whenever I was wasting time during computer science class (on the rare occasions my code actually worked the first time and I didn't have to go looking for some misplaced comma). If I take on the Great Garrus ASCII Project of 2010, don't expect results for a couple months.
I'll give you a deadline: ME3 release date. Enough time, no?

On Samara's recruitment mission he got 4 headshot in a row, no less. I can imagine grunt pouting about not getting to kill anyone. Typical turian mating behaviour probably does include showing off to the female i think. If so then he is doing pretty well with my current shep.
Am I the only one who thinks that Garrus might be or have been a big showoff at one point. He certainly does brag about his headshots alot.

I don't really remember any cool Garrus combat moments. I'm usually too busy concentrating on Shepard to know what the others are doing unless I make them use a power. I remember shooting Garrus and almost hitting him with Warp before I improved at the combat system though... it was pretty awesome that Garrus moved right before Warp hit him.

There is a sense of the haste of Garrus' Sidonis conflict then his not talking about it again- this seemed more abrupt than the romantic transition.
This, especially since the conversation between Shepard and Garrus in the car prior to dealing with Sidonis, as well as the whole Harkin thing right before that, was so comparitively lengthy and well-scripted that it feels even more abrupt later when the whole thing just gets (scoped and) dropped. <_<
And glad you made it back, Aricle! [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wizard.png[/smilie]

Lol yeah, you've got a point
there.
I thought it more like one of these comments you spit in a
certain moment out of wrath or the like and ends up with a room full of
blushy people.
Still, the picture of Shepard and Councilor
Velarn having a coffee and discussing their most intimate matters is...
Well, intriguing, to say the least.
Hey, they don't have to go into gory details or anything...they can make it plain that they are a couple (by the way they talk to each other, the comments they make, etc.) and he can figure out what happened behind the scenes

About the lyrics question, I wish the lyrics to this song didn't remind me of Garrus, because the song is definitely too mushy to be a Shepard-Garrus song, but I can't help but think of that romance every single time I hear it...especially because of the verse about the scars, and the beginning where it mentions feeling "whole again". It's a pretty song too.

Yep, I might be in the same boat...Liara is still calling me "Shepard"
I'm gonna finish Noveria, and talk to her again, and see if there's any way out...if not, I think I will have to start the game over, since I don't believe I have an appropriate save. However, I can't say I'm incredibly angry about it...I get to see Nihlus again, I get to meet Officer Vakarian for the first time again...and I can get the funny line from Liara where she thinks you're a hallucination. I won't complain too much.

I don't know how but everytime I've played ME1 I've managed to deflect the Liara romance - and first time through managed to romance no-one!

Garrus does occasionally snipe some enemy that I've been concentrating, but I don't really pay a huge amount of attention to it. It just goes,

I just love it when he says that. <3
That, and the way he says "IMPRESSIVE!"
