Calibrations: Garrus Love and Turian Discussion

I finally found some time to play LotSB... it was generally fantastic, and of course I brought Garrus. But he got knocked out by the Shadow Broker and missed the entire boss fight! Noooo! The cutscene showing the squadmate getting knocked out is very quick about it, so at first I thought it was a glitch. Anybody else slightly annoyed by having to stop and imagine Shepard trying to tell Garrus what actually happened after the fact? It was a bit cheezy, I thought, for badass Garrus to be out for the entire fight like that :-)

@JulianP: Squaddie #2 always gets knocked out so the focus can be kept on how special and wonderful Liara is and how she and Shep are such good pals and just meant for each other and boy oh boy isn't our Liara special... Honestly, I don't hate Liara, but BW's trying to hard to make me love her.
Anyway, all of my Sheps would just make fun of him for getting pwn't and missing an awesome fight. And then brofist him. Because every conversation with Garrus should end with a brofist.

Watch the improved version then.
@Kim: Now I'm wondering if Arterius Sr. and Papa Vakarian would get along...

Ya know, this is exactly how I feel about Thane. But that's for a different thread. (Also, please don't mistake this for Thane-hate.)AdmiralCheez wrote...

And now for a MSPaint edit because I'm juvenile.

Also, graphics improved. But turians are all bigger and bulkier, not just him. Though he seems to have grown a foot.

Questions:
1) How sure are we that the character in question is female?
2) If female, can we assume females generally look like that?
3.) How "canon" do you guys consider the source?
How DARE those humans call turians ugly? Skullface indeed... :-) Clearly jealous.
I must admit, I am desperately, desperately hoping that female turians do indeed have some sort of fringe! They're so majestic. "Female" creatures shouldn't have to always be the "plain" looking ones. Oh well, at least I hope they have protective plating on their heads.
All the same, it looks like they refrained from slapping fanservice-boobs on her..it.. whatever. Good!
ETA: But didn't Garrus actually imply that he'd compliment a (presumably female) turian's fringe? So does that mean we have conflicting info? Or is "she" just "bald"?

They'd probably have a lot in common as far as personality and raising a family goes, but have completely different opinions about things. Papa Vakarian doesn't want Garrus to turn into Saren. Maybe he and Arterius Sr. are old rivals? xD I'd like to see that now.Liec wrote...

Thank you! That was much more to my liking. Must ...file... under "Personal Canon."

True, because there is no bro like Garrus. Except maybe Wrex. And the LI conclusion conversation should end with with a headbump.AdmiralCheez wrote...

Yes. She is referred to as a "she."JulianP wrote...

Not really. She's the only female turian shown.2) If female, can we assume females generally look like that?
It's from the Mass Effect: Evolution comic, so it's canon. That doesn't necessarily mean designs can't cange though (Saren's brother has a slightly altered appearance in volume 2), and it doesn't mean that her lack of fringe is any more than a variation like Saren's side-fringe (which quite a few turians in Evolution have).3.) How "canon" do you guys consider the source?

Ah, good ol' Wrex. I loved the conversations he and Garrus had in ME1. He made our poor boy look like such a noob. Anyway, I love the dynamic those two + Shepard have. Wrex is your big bro, Garrus is your little bro.lovgreno wrote...

Waitaminute, does Garrus's overwhelming broness make 'mancing him a form of incest?
I kind of feel icky all of a sudden.
God, I need to stop thinking before this gets any worse.

If you think of your Shepards as one big happy family, it's better. Garrus romances one FemShep, marries her, and then he is family for all the other Shepards. Although, if you have more than one Shepard who romances him, that'll get kind of creepy. But if you have one Shepard who acts like everyone's godfather, it's hilarious.

Gotta say, though, the one thing that pissed me off about the GarrusMance was Kelly's spontaneous commentary when I decided to show a little concern for the guy.
"AWWW YOU TWO WOULD MAKE A GREAT COUPLE!!!"
Shep: 8|
Kelly: 8D
Shep: >8|
Then again, it's Kelly.

I actually like the "cute couple" line. It annoys me that it sounds like Kelly is interested in Garrus too... along with every other romance option, and probably some who aren't even an option, and Shepard. o_o If she makes a move on resurrected Saren, MainShep is throwing her out of the airlock.

You did confess to her that you wanted to hold him close and tell him everything would be alright, what else was she supposed to say? =P
^ This made me laugh. Although, I confessed that to her my first playthrough and didn't get the cute couple comment because I didn't like talking to Kelly.

Nah, Garrus is more of a equal to Shep in ME2 wich is one of the reasons I think he is the best LI. Not that I have actualy managed to romance Jacob or Thane...

I'm actually embarrassed to admit it, but I seriously never thought Garrus would be a romance option in ME2. It was even more surprising to see that it actually worked out.
....ok, won't waste anymore space here. Continue.

I didn't like any of the romance options in ME1, and was annoyed that FemShep only had one (Liara counts as a MaleShep-only option for me). ME2 fixed that problem with Garrus, Tali (who my very first Shepard wanted), Thane, and Jack... I just like the second game's romance choices better than the first. Same with Dragon Age.

When I was playing ME1 for the first time, I thought the only thing that could make such an awesome game even better would be if Garrus was a romance option. Thank you, BioWare.
Yes. Well, maybe not the *only* thing, but Garrus was the only one I could even stand to think about romancing, but I never thought it would be possible. Then they made it possible

Ok, I was wrong. I must say moooorrre.
In reference to a several posts earlier, I wish Shepard had lunged towards Garrus and got him out of the way instead of Liara. I'll settle for that scene where it looks like Liara was about to say something and then Shepard turns away when Garrus wakes up.

@lovegreno: Yeah, I agree that the equality was a big part of it for me. Garrus is pretty much Shepard only the wrong species.
