One thing that always made me wonder was why Liara didn't ask any of the old team to help her recover Shepard's body. Were they too scattered, too hard to reach? Garrus didn't leave the Citadel until months after Shepard's death

Because that's a kinda creepy thing to do, corpse hunting. She never found an organic way to approach the topic in normal conversation.

@Primal: The only team member who would have been available for sure was Tali, and I'm pretty sure Tali went back to the fleet. Garrus could have not been recruited, and everybody else was potentially dead.



And yes, I did ME1 over just for that. >:3

I was actually wondering how you got this conversation option the other day. When she talks about Garrus I always end up giving her the "he's a soldier he can take it" option.

I think you're right, the team was just broken up after Shepard's death. Wrex was already back on Tuchanka, Kaidan/Ashley was working with the Alliance (and wouldn't approve of helping Cerberus, as we know now), and Tali was back on the Migrant Fleet. The timeline is confusing, so Garrus may or may not have already been on Omega at the time.

Good point, Liec. 'Cheez, I think I'm still missing the point. Was Garrus unrecruitable because he had obligations on the Citadel?

And I do agree with you, Phantom IS kick-@ss. But I usually glitch Garrus' to heavy Colossus partly out of guilt because it's Nihlus' armor. Oh Nihlus, why didn't you listen to your mother and wear your helmet out that day?!

Poor Nihlus. xD Well, I'm guessing he didn't wear a helmet because he was trained by Saren, who never wears a helmet. It's either that, or the fact that Nihlus wearing a helmet would have messed up the scene.

Nihlus: *bullet bounces off his helmet* ...Saren? D:
Saren: This is awkward... It was, um, the geth. Right, the geth.

I'm betting this has been said before, but all of ME1 would have changed had Nihlus survived, wouldn't it?

Yes it would have. I think I would've liked that better. The story would still be about Shepard but maybe make her a Spectre at the end of the game.

Yeah, Nihlus would probably believe Saren no matter what... and what's even more sad is, Saren could have told Nihlus about the Reapers. Nihlus would have believed him.

I always want my favorites to survive, and Nihlus was not only awesome, he was Saren's friend. I still think it was best to become a Spectre at the beginning of the game though. If Shepard became a Spectre at the end, you'd never actually get to play a Spectre. The option is only offered in ME2 if Shepard saved the Council and managed not to have an angry outburst at them after the airquotes, and even then, Shepard is still working for Cerberus.

I like that part though, and the working with TIM. Now all he needs to do is bring Saren back, and all will be right with the galaxy. TIM is the magical boyfriend resurrection fairy, after all. He needs to make it happen.

Meh, I hated that part. Particularly because Shepard didn't seem to be affected by her death at all.

Poor Shepard! xD Yeah, it's hilarious that Shepard's suddenly broke, like TIM ran out of credits and used hers.

They probably didn't include more of a reaction to being dead because they didn't want to make a canon choice, and I like that. I definitely wouldn't want a certain belief or feeling forced on my Shepard. They could have included a conversation about it, but then there's the question of who would be best for it. Jacob, who already asked Shepard some emotional questions? An old friend who's geniunely concerned? The ship's psychiatrist? They probably just didn't want to deal with it, so they gave Shepard some "badass" answers to the dead questions. Those answers work for my Shepards, even if they have different feelings about being dead and brought back into this situation. They just won't talk about those feelings (if any) and try not to think about them because there's a mission to deal with.

Hard to ressurect Saren with his remains disintegrated thanks to Sovereign. One more reason to beat the reapers?

An interesting story I'd like to hear if Nihlus survived. Would I be asking too much Aeowyn, if you wrote one?

My theory - the top half of Saren's faceplates and his fringe were still whole, TIM can get some DNA, rebuilt his body, do whatever he did with Shepard, and give MainShep something in return for always taking his side, giving him Reaper tech, etc. xD Their relationship is built on favors like this. She gave him the Collector base as a "thank you" present.

For now though, Saren's death does fuel her Reaper-hate. They'll be a pile of rubble and ashes when she's done with them.

Hah, I haven't been able to write anything consistent since October I'm afraid. There are few Nihlus fics on ff and then it's only one of them I like. The other is more, "Nihlus survived so Shepard could bonk him"

Oh Nihlus... He should have survived and been a romance option in ME1. My poor femShep was romanceless because she hated Kaidan and, as Kim mentioned, I don't count Liara as a romance option for my femShep. Although, now that I think about, maybe it's for the best. I wouldn't want to choose between Nihlus and Garrus in ME2.
