it's a sad world for shepards  who fancy turians isn't it?

They get killed early, go evil and don't meet you for that second drink *cough*Lorik*cough*
How did you guys feel about that "I'd never thought I'd find peace in the arms of a turian but.." line? Up untill then I could role play a Shepard that would happily date a turian, so romancing Garrus wouldn't be a shock to her at all. I would have much preferred "I found peace with him" or something similar.

I didn't like the line that much, mainly for my MainShep who has had eyes for Garrus since ME1. I mean, she has had eyes for him since the fiirst game and for her to say that....it sounds weird to me.

I only have 1 other Shep that romances Garrus. It didn't sound as weird coming from her, however.

For my Shep it made sense. She'd never had a romantic relationship with an alien let alone one with different amino acids and that's my role-playing reason she didn't raise the subject in ME1, she convinced herself she was being silly when she started developing a crush on him, that it would never work, he probably thinks you look really weird.
Although being earthborn and an ex gang member "I'd never thought I'd find peace in the arms of an ex-cop but.." would have fit as well XD

I have mixed feelings on that LotSB line. It didn't feel too out of place since my Shepard was Earthborn. She's far from xenophobic (obviously, since she's dating Garrus) but I always imagine it's still a bit of a marvel to be amongst so many aliens after spending the first 2/3 of he life on the streets of Earth. The way I see it, most of her current life isn't at all what she imagined it would ever be.

Heh, THAT would have been even better for Meghan.  But that line, oddly didn't seem too odd in retrospect.

Like shadowsoul, my mainshep went through ME1 alone to be with Garrus in ME2. She had eyes for him right at the start. Although I thought that line was really sweet, and it was good to see Shepard feel a strong emotion for him, my mainshep is very accomodating of aliens, and sees them as 'normal.'

As Kaidan says, aliens are 'jerks and saints, like us.'



So my mainshep wasn't surprised that it was the arms of a turian that she found peace in.



It also implies that Garrus DID get hugs in ME2!!

While I wasn't entirely pleased with the comment to Liara, I felt it at least had more emotion than almost everything Shep says to Garrus in the romance. I for one would have liked some choice in what she said instead of her usual, "Shut up and screw me Vakarian." I have no problem with some initial bluntness, I constantly wanted Shep to say a little more about how much she cared for Garrus. I think that's the main reason I accept what she says to Liara. It makes the relationship feel like more than "blowing off steam."

I don't know. That whole conversation with Liara was just strange. I preferred Kasumi's acknowledgement though: "The word is Garrus really likes you."

Ivy only saw Garrus as a friend in ME1, and by the time Saren was killed (sorry Kim!) they got really close, but still just friends. It wasn't until she saw him "transform" during his Loyalty Mission that she realised how much she cared for him, and well, like Sia's always said "you have to be pretty obvious when you're coming on to your best friend." I mean that is one of the major reasons I love the romance. They were friends first and lovers later, and it's a nice change from the whole "meet then fall in love an hour later" - game romances. Just my 2 pence.

I agree. Friendship is a great basis to form a relationship.

And I like what Kasumi said too. She didn't even make an issue of the cross species thing which I loved.

'The word is that Garrus really likes you. You should go for it. A lot of people on this ship want to see you two together.'

Something like that, I also really liked that a lot of the crew was very welcoming and even eager for a relationship to develop between Garrus and Shepard. Almost as if they could see it coming for a while.

The reason I personally don't like Liara's line is that she seemed a little snarky when saying it, like she was jealous. That woman clearly doesn't understand the concept of FRIEND ZONE. I mean, it's sweet that she loves you no matter what, but not all my Sheps are into blue chicks.



And yes, Hyrule_Gal, it's not fair that Garrus gets no hugs. I mean, Tali, Liara, Kaishley, and Jack all get hugs...

You know, now that I think about it, it is a little weird the way Bioware played things. I mean, they have dialogue saying that most of your Cerberus crew is shipping Garrus/Shepard. so you have an organization known for xenophobes... and Shepard is the only one who says it's weird she's with a Turian.

"A lot of people" doesn't necessarily mean the crew.  Besides, most of the people on that ship aren't even xenophobic; they just want to make sure that their favorite team has a chance in the big leagues, you know?

Although, you are correct.  I imagine pretty much everyone would think turian-on-human was weird.

I watched two different LPs of Mass Effect to catch up and I never noticed his eyes. Is that his default eye color? Those eyes are hypnotizing. I wish I could play the first game:(
