About the avatars, for mine it didn't necessarily have to be 146x146 pixels. It was a massive picture, but it sized down automatically.

Welcome one and all to the Garrus thread, can't believe how many new people/delurkers just popped up. I'm loving it! Turians' weight will definately be heavier than humans, but I checked on the wiki just now and there's nothing there.

And yeah, the romance dialogue is awesome. The only part I wasn't so keen on was how Shepard first initiated the romance, it seemed like a FWB sort of thing. But I was glad to see as the romance progressed that it became much more than that.

Although, it is still a little annoying when people use the same lines out of context to say that femshep and Garrus were just FWB...

The only lines I didn't like were Shepard's in the final scene. Garrus did everything right though. :)

For some reason, I find the hilariously awkward moments amusing. Maybe that's why the romance I planned out for Saren and MainShep is full of them.

I didn't like how she sounded almost patronizing. "Whoa consider me seduced"
Never do the paragon interrupt because of it.

Yeah, she does sound patronising.
Although I still do the paragon interrupt just to spare him from the embarrassment and the 'Throw me a line here Shepard,' thing.
And I agree, all Garrus' lines were spot on.

I think this is the first scene in the game where you see Shepard smiling as well, such an awesome scene. And don't you love how the guy just took a rocket to the face and is more worried about how Shepard is doing?

As to the Garrusmance, I was playing a new Shepard yesterday. Since I always romance Garrus and my husband had one of his femSheps romance Thane, I tried to put her through a Jacob romance. I couldn't bare to choose any of the romance starting dialogue choices though so he ended up friend-zoned, haha. Immediately after that, I was like, "Well, guess I have to romance Garrus now" and ran down to the main battery.

its funny. i started out as a Kaidan fangirl... and then, even before Horizon ... every time Garrus told me he had my back, or he'd always be behind me... everytime that i KNEW beyond the shaodw of a doubt that he was going to be loyal to me ... i was smitten.

I ADORE the awkwardness of the romance. I think its so damned realistic and absolutely perfect. I do wish that it had progressed a bit more naturally, but at the same time... its obvious that Shepard and Garrus are close. Even in ME1 there was shades of it... anybody else notice that?
Its funny, of all of the characters, I can see Garrus being the most caring and compassionate. But maybe I'm biased.

And as to this^^ I just picked up Thane, who's another favorite of mine... .and I just can't turn Garrus away.
*sighs* silly BioWare.
Also, I cry every time we meet Archangel and he gets shot.

wow, this turned into a novel. lol.

I dunno, I thought he sounded really uncomfortable at that point. I think that the heat sink line was awkward, but he seemed genuinely upset when he said 'Throw me a line here Shepard.'
That's why I do the paragon interrupt anyway.
And hehe, the above is always what I did too.

This pretty much explains how I played the final scene and why.

@Tasha: Doesn't Garrus say that Shepard makes him nervous, never uncomfortable? :) I don't think he sounded upset there, just fully aware that he's tripping over his words and regretting the fact that he didn't watch those human culture vids.

I don't think that's biased. His writer did call him a compassionate Renegade.

Wrong choice of words maybe. I just think he sounds a little out of his depth there, as if he is really worried and extremely nervous. All in perception I guess.
But yeah, I don't really like how Shepard says the paragon interrupt, but the words themselves were nice.
First time I played it through, I was sat back watching the scene. So when the interrupt appeared I jerked forward and found my mouse to right click the mouse in time, knocking a few items on to the floor in my hurry.

I had already watched the romance videos long before I got to the scene in-game, so I already knew what I wanted FemShep to say. xD But I usually click those interrupts in a hurry. There are only a few of them that I don't like.

This. I always choose to do the paragon interrupt because it feels like the lesser of two evils. Neither Shepard line is great but I feel much nicer if I break the tension with a joke instead of letting Garrus sweat it out. Whenever I watch in flounder in youtube vids, it makes me cringe a little. I always feel like, in that moment, Garrus is really nervous he's managed to screw things up. Also, while the "throw me a line" line (hur) is adorable, it makes Shepard's response of seem even crueler since no matter how you do it you tell him to shut up. I figure the faster I can put the guy at ease, the better.

On a related note (as in, things I've only ever seen on youtube) has anyone ever seen the break up scene that takes place outside of the romance scene. I saw the romance scene one once on youtube, but I never could find what he says if you break up with him at another point. Playing as a sort of cold Renegade Shep morbid curiosity finally took over. It wasn't quite as bad as the romance scene one but I still had to instantly reload and talk to him again. That alone warrants a Garrus hug option. Break up with Garrus? Reload and apologize profusely with a hug.

Hehe, thanks for putting it in better words snuffles!
I thought the paragon interrupt was going to be a hug, but as Hyrule Gal has pointed out: NOOOO! It wasn't...

Actually, I chose not to use the interrupt because I thought the dialogue without it was the lesser of two evils. xD It's probably just the different personalities of our Shepards though. My FemShep isn't the type to use those words from the Paragon interrupt. She's also the type to see the "you were always ugly" joke line as cruel and adding insult to injury. But she's the type who always chooses her words carefully and says exactly what she means. She still jokes around, but not as much as other Shepards might, and definitely not in certain situations.

You see, I liked the banter from the scars conversation. And I have the problem of making my Shepard's according to my preferences. And I love that your Sheps are totally diverse and don't necessarily agree with what you would go for Kim.

I have ordered my Reach and Flexibility T-shirt. Although I think it is phrased differently to the dialogue used.
Dialogue: I had reach, but she had flexibility.
T-shirt: He had THE reach, but I had THE flexibility.
Think I prefer it without the 'the's.' But I still love that the ladies have a Garrus Tee!

I think my EvilShep is the only one who would actually say that after Garrus was scarred. At least Garrus has a good comeback for him. xD If only there was another line about being proud of your battle scars. Half of my Shepards would probably choose that one. Earthborn Ruthless, if he was allowed to speak freely there, would just laugh, give Garrus a pat on the back and say, "You're all right. Just walk it off."

I always think the scar joke is funny and it results in the "happy Garrus is happy" face, so obviously he thinks it's funny. But I could see how if you had a Shepard that says only what she really means, this would just be mean. As long as diverse Shepards are still romancing Garrus, all is right with the world.

Final note: cannot agree more that a hug at the paragon interrupt would have been fab. Like, maybe Shepard could put a finger to his mouth (instead of telling him to shut up), give him a quick hug, then say something reassuring. Like, "You don't have to impress me Garrus. Just relax." Or, to keep a joke in the interrupt, something along the lines of, "You don't have to impress me Garrus. You already did that when you blocked a missile with your face."

Now, that's the kind of interrupt that would have been perfect for my FemShep. :)

That's awesome.  It's what my FemShep would say.  It's funny, sweet, and on point all at the same time.
