Waah! So many posts since I was on last. Must catch up...

Kim Shepard wrote...

Not that I'm complaining. BioWare is awesome for giving us the Garrus romance and everything he does is perfect. Just wanted to give suggestions for how Shepard's end of it could be handled better in ME3. :) I expect it'll be great.

I agree. I don't understand how they could get everything Garrus says so right but Shepard occassionally is so wrong. Oh well. No matter how spazzy Shep's lines get, as long as Garrus continues to be perfection, ME3 will be great.

EDIT: Uh-oh, top of the page. Must start with more Garr Garr. So, some Shep and Garr goodness.

Aeowyn. That was brilliant Image IPB. Such a serious pose... Love it!
And yeah, Chimerva has posted Garrus' eye texture, it is more green than anything, but has blue and yellow in there too. Nihlus has BRIGHT green eyes. Almost like a cat.
And Saren has blue eyes I think. But I bet you all the money in the world that Kim would know for certain Image IPB.

firstly....  brilliant. *giggles*

secondly.... did you create that eye texture?? thats amazing, and oh so accurate.  I kinda figured they were more blue, but i think it also may depend on computer/television colors and whatnot.

also... yes. yes his voice is probably one of the sexiest i've ever heard.  so sweet and sincere. i could listen to him talk for hours. he could tell me all about his calibrations and i would be happy. lol.

and i think that the "you're talking too much" line was more of a, less talk more sex sorta thing. now, dont; get me wrong...  its a nice idea, but it was very poorly played. i'm hopeing that if this romance is allowed to continue into the next game that it gets a bit more refined.  hell, Garrus seems to be the most popular romance by far, so maybe it will be. maybe all of them will be. if its one thing BioWare does well its improve their game lines as they go.

It wasn't created Obsydian, it is Garrus' genuine eye texture for the game. (I think) Dengarde showed us it a while back when we asked about Garrus' eye colour.
Yes, we talk about everything on this thread.
Including, as of recently, the deadly nature of Garrus' 'man juice' if *ahem* 'ingested.' Image IPB

Re- The paragon interrupt: Didn't take it. Either way she sounds....out of character. (I missed it ont the playthrough I was going to take it, laughing when I noticed he looks right at it, lol.) Some of the lines you came up with would have been much better.
Honestly my FemShep doesn't care if he shuts up or not, she likes listening to him talk.

Re- Reach and Flexibility shirts: I might order one. It still irks me that they got the quote wrong, but hey, at least they made the shirts. (Archangel symbol would have been better, and more bad*ss)

@Aeowyn
Awesome pic is awesome.

@Tasha
Okay, don't know if I said it before but, you avatar is so damn great.

@YamiSnuffles
Your sig, is  oh so very true. He does make FemShep smile (I'm pretty sure that she smiles more with that romance then with any other. Might just be me, though)

Hi Garrus fans, I'm trying determine how a turian would stack up against the other ME races in hand to hand combat and I'd like to ask a question about the Turians' natural/biological advantages. What kind of skin do they have and what would it feel like?

Is it;
1. Soft, squishy and elasitic ours.
2. Hard and smooth yet flexible like leather.
3. Soft underlayer covered by hardend plates, like crocodile/alligator skin
4. Rigid exoskeleton, like a lobster or beetle.
5. Something else.

Personally, I think it's rough and elastic (kind of like shark skin) with thicker plates in strategic places.

ooooh, good question.  also i would quesion size....  since Turian's are natually larger. :D

my answer to this would be 2 or 3.  Wishful thinking would be 2, however, since 3 would be a bit painful.  yeah. i'm going with leathery.  Every creature has a soft spot.. Hell, even armadillos have fleshy bits.

also, slightly off topic... I just finished Garrus' loyalty mission, i was wondering if anyone had any screenshots of him all close up when he's lining up the shot on Sidonis?    I have the game for xbox and can't get the right screenshot.   i admit that this is my first playthrough and i was ...lets say pleased with the scenes here. very pleased indeed.

General Septimus in ME1 mentions something about the troops kissing his leathery backside (as an insult) and the codex mentions that the turians have no natural body armour. I always assumed the plating/carapace is more like toughened leather than anything else, the skin underneath might be a bit rougher than human skin. Grunt also makes a joke about how squishy all other species are but it would take longer to "work the blade in" on a turian (probably due to the collar protecting the heart and upper torso).

As for their prowess at hand-to-hand.. well, just watch any videos about the Reach and Flexibility conversation, Garrus especially is supposed to be really good at that sort of fighting style (too bad we never get to see it...) and keep in mind that turians have sharp talons on their feet and hands. One of the CDN entries awhile back mentioned that a human was accidently killed by a turian in a scuffle because the turian's talons punctured his neck (or similar). I don't think they usually fight that way unless they have to but it shows how deadly they can be if they aren't careful.

I've tried capturing them before but it all happens quickly, here's two screenshots though, one of lining up the shot and the close up after he takes it:

There are a few conversations in ME2 that give info about turian skin but they're all open to interpretation. Grunt says that krogans prefer to use blades on turians. Hower blades would give krogans more striking range in a fight, so they may just use them to counter a turian's long reaching arms and legs. Mordin does warn of chafing, but does he at any point suggest it isn't a risk for both Shepard and Garrus? Besides, I could probably chafe against my own skin if I tried hard enough.

Anyway, I'll just write some stuff about turian features that I think could prove useful or detrimental in a fight. Most of this stuff is based on my own knowledge of martial arts and this is how I, as a student of brazilian jiu jitsu and boxing, would analyse a turian for weakness.

Of all the main races, turians seem to have the longest distance between their hands and head. This allows them to perform jabs and swipes without exposing their torso and head to counter strikes. An turian would "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee". An asari, salarian or human may be able to overcome this tactic using flexibility, fast reflexes or aggressive counter attacks respectively. An unarmed krogan would do well to resort to grappling moves, using their wieght and strength to overwhelm the turian. This is all assuming the turian doesn't have a knife, in which case his reach would make him more deadly than a necromorph.

Unfortunatly the turians hieght also gives them a high center of gravity. Combining this with their thin waists makes turians espesially vunerable to takedowns, flips and throws. Hard stomps directed at the shins and knees have the potential to put a turian down for the count. Longer limbs also go hand in hand with reduced co-ordination in close quarters, putting turians at a disadvantage in confined spaces where they can't fully utilise their speed to keep an opponent at bay. Again, this assumes the turain has no melee weapons.

That's all I can think of for now. Ba-bye Garrus fans!

So, speaking of Garrus' eyes. What color do you think they are? I can't tell if they're blue, green, or like a grey and changing with the lighting.

That's the Garrus eye texture pic I was thinking of. :) Has it been added to the OP? Because if it has, I totally missed it.

Aeowyn's close-up screenshot of Garrus made me think of something. Can someone post a really close screenshot of Garrus' visor, close enough to "read" the text on it? I want to see if it was possibly written in turian because [EVOLUTION SPOILERS] Saren's brother speaks with the turian husks - it shows the symbols, and I'd like to know if they're speaking in turian or some Reaper language. [/EVOLUTION SPOILERS]

The original color of Saren's eyes (pre-cybernetics) is bright blue, just like his brother and TIM, according to Evolution. To me, the cybernetics seem to be a different shade of blue, one that has some purple mixed in. They look more blue or purple in different screenshots, so I'm guessing it's a mix like Garrus' eyes. Yes, I've stared at his eyes for a long time trying to figure this out. xD

eshrafel wrote...

Just wait, the forums will create a silly, completely non-threatening name for everyone. There's already "Timmy" and "Harby." No idea what they'll come up with for Saren. I kind of nicknamed his brother "Des" though.

I would say it's a combination of 2 and 3. The skin that isn't covered by plates still seems to be soft like skin, but thicker than human skin. The plates are hard, but at least some of them (the lips in particular) are flexible enough to move and bend.

It is - I added when I last posted. It's in the turian biology section, underneath the pic of the inside of a turian's mouth unless I find somewhere better to put it later. :P
