 Ok. Back again... So, here's my thoughts. I think that even in ME1 Garrus was all about Shepard. "I'm always behind you." I mean... even not taking that sexually, that's rediculously loyal. I think there's always been something there. But that could just be my sad little mind wanting to see it.

I do think that regarding sexuality its hard to tell all the time what people are... But I do think that Garrus strikes me as very very straight. But I would love to see him be bi.

Also, shirtless Garrus would probably make me die of happiness. Seriously.  Have you seen Louvette's work on devArt?  I'm begging her to do a Garrus. She has nekkid Thane, Zev, Shep, etc...   lets all get together and beg for Garrus

Also... Tasha, where can i find this story???  I'm always lookin for some good Garrus fic.  (Not that I've read much).

Wow, Obsydian! Thanks for sharing that fanart, hadn't seen that one before.

As for fanfic, mine sort of went on hold since DA2 came out, trying to get back into it but a month off from writing is proving difficult. It's definitely going to have lots of Garrus goodness in it, once I get this writer's block to go away. Sure, leonia, I'll check  it out. I kinda have an idea for one, it'll be my first in the ME universe. Usually I write Torchwood/Who.

But yeah, I'll take a look. And I know, isn't that one fantastic? One of the first Garrus pics I ever saw.One of the first that made me terribly attracted to him. Its from MadSpike on DevArt.... he's got quite a few portraits from various games.

As for Garrus.. this may sound odd, but what attracted me first to our loveable turian is his beautiful fringe. I'm a sucker for sharp angles.

WOW! Those are amazing! So far it's this picture that I think best depicts a half naked turian. Plus he's using the pointless shower plot device properly this time!   












I know this just sounds like the  ramblings of a fangirl but I honestly think having  Gar shirtless is better animation wise (hear me out!)  One of the big problems was that garrus was always in bulky armour which meant it would have caused so many clipping issues if Shepard got close. The less clothes he has on the thinner he is, the thinner he is the less clipping issues there'll be! So it’s actually practical to have him half-nekkid for the next game *nods* 

 
Also take into account the no snogging thing, they need to find  a way to make up for that right? Answer? Half-nekkid Garrus. By putting more emphasis on physical touch it will still show just as much intimacy as if they were kissing. If they can make a separate model for Jacob for his romance scene *snore* they can do the same for Gar. Those pixelated abs went to waste because nearly everyone wanted to see thane and Garrus in the buff.

Also yes about the clipping issue! My avatar has clipped his arms right through his knees, but you can only tell if you see the image. (Unless you look REALLY closely at my avatar.)
And I am glad to see that shower put to good use, that is more the scene I wanted to see in-game!

OMG I requested from her before, and she said that she would if she had time. I adore her stuff. I think I stared at the Thane pictures for hours.  So pretty.  Yeah, I've got it open on my computer at this point, so as soon as I have a chance, I'll take a peek. Pretty busy right now with boy here.  

And that picture of the half nekkid Garrus...  speaking of things that i'd stare at for hours.....   

Finally, I love that picture. I really love that picture. See, thats the sort of thing that I would have loved to see. Its intimate and sweet... and still very in character. 
And hot. very hot.

And as for the rest of the post, I would prefer if Garrus didn't spontaneously become Bi. I think it would irreversably change his character, how I perceive his character, and the context of our friendship.

I can totally understand wanting to be able to romance him, but creating that option would, not ruin, but alter everyone else's friendship with the character. He'd no longer be just a very loyal friend, his motivation for that loyalty would be called into question for those that are straight and even for those that aren't.

I say, he's already a LI, why not, if you want to romance Garrus, play as a femshep.

i can beta-read....  not for a week or two, but i'm always willing.

....i don't think i agree though that there would be anything to do with ulterior motives.....  thats like saying, that if you play a fem!shep that he always has ulterior motives. *shrug* but thats just me.

I love your rationale, seriously. But also wanted to comment.. I think that's one of the beautiful things about a cross-species relationship between the two. Not only are they breaking down social barriers but there are physical differences that have to be taken into account. How are two people supposed to show affection/intimacy without kissing? Sure, Shepard can kiss him but that's not entirely fair. There's something deeply romantic about how much they have to rely on touch to express themselves (aside from words, of course). I can imagine this was a bit of a hang up for the devs when they were designing the "final" romance scene.. how were they supposed to show this without getting too sexual and going over the top? There's been plenty of fanart and fanfic since then, however, showing how easily it can be represented so maybe we'll get luckier in ME3 (I'll take cheek stroking and head bumping over French kissing any day).

I've always thought their fringe looked awesome. (No wonder I think Saren looks the most awesome. He has extra fringe.) Their eyes are really cool too. And the way they use their mandibles for expressions like smiles and shock (Nihlus' face when he first saw Sovereign). I just think turians are the best alien species ever created.
