It looks like Garrus is giving Urz the finger. So yes, I think he ate Garrus' calibrations book.

So, having just read Evolution 2 and 3 SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T READ IT. READ NO FURTHER!!!!!

I was ecstatic at seeing Palaven, but felt a little bit sad that it was covered by radiation and ruined by war. I guess I knew that the turians were a race of war, but never thought of them constantly fighting each other.
As for Desolas, nice trick with the Illuvian priests! Haha. At first I thought those guys behind the robes could be geth. And if Saren can elevate the turians by studying the Prothean? artefact and studying its effects on Jack Harper, then isn't exactly what TIM does with Cerberus later anyway?

It almost sees to me like TIM learned his stance, his beliefs and a lot of things from Saren. Despite the hostility between them.

I haven't actually read issue 3 yet (waiting to buy it along with 4 in a few more weeks) but from that description.. it sounds like they've mixed up Palaven with Tuchanka. While the turians are known for their military prowess and going to war, they haven't fought amongst themselves much since the Unification War and the formation of the Hierarchy. Aside from a few fringe incidents like the civil war on Taetrus (there's a long series of CDN entries on this, very interesting read if you're into expanding your turian lore), the Hierarchy is the reason turians don't go around conquering systems left and right any more.

It sort of bothers me that they keep retconning things that we do already know about the turians, whether it is from the codex or comments from Garrus (come on, he's wrong about female turians and Palaven now?). It doesn't take much effort to look things up but whatever, it's a comic not going to get too upset over it. I'm sure they tried to make it look like the turians were the villains so it's kind of like "ha ha all they care about is fighting and look what they have to show for it".

As Palaven is the homeworld and the capital of the Hierarchy, even if there had been recent wars amongst the turians, it would be unlikely to be involved directly in any conflicts. They have heaps of colony worlds and anything that would have escalated to the level of attacking the Hierarchy directly surely would have been big enough to get a mention in the codex.

Anyway, I'm hoping if we see Palaven in ME3 it's nothing at all like the comic.

As for the subject of turian kissing I think ya'll covered that pretty well, I was just going to mention lots of nuzzlign and touching and nose rubbing to the usual headbumping. It would be funny if in ME3 one of the human squad-mates (maybe even the VS if they rejoin the squad) notices the gesture and someone else on the squad (probably an alien team-mate like Tali or Thane) has to explain what all the headbumping is about.

In the comic there's no mention of war between turians in Palaven. All it says it's that's it's radiation-scarred planet and that turians have adapted to it.

But I thought the radiation was due to their sun and a weak planet core (or something to that effect)? It shouldn't appear "war torn". Again, I haven't actually read issue 3 so I'm just sort of working with what I've heard.

And yes, there are multiples methods of.. ingestion.

It doesn't appear war torn :)

"In war, timing is everything. Weeks earlier, the Alliance would indeed have given anything to have agents visit Palaven -Homeworld of the turians, their one-time enemies. They would have seen a radiation-scarred planet turned civilized - A world beaten into submission by an even more rugged people, themselves evolving to survive and thrive there. They are a people who value tradition and honor."

I must have gotten the impression that Palaven was 'War torn' in that case then. It is sad that it is scarred by radiation though. Although I did like the opportunity to find out a bit more about the religion and supersticions of turians.

Saying that, I can't see Garrus as a religious guy.

As for the above: Hahaha!! I may just steal the Aussie kiss quote! Thanks Magenator!

Someone asked what kind of dialogue we'd want for femShep and Garrus in ME3. I want something sweet, but not too sappy. While I think my main Shep is a softy at heart, I can't see her actually saying anything mushy. If anything, I could see her trying to tell Garrus her feelings but getting all awkward just like him. Or she would do something kind of round about to show her feelings. Like, compare love to killing Reapers or some ridiculous thing.

Actually, now that I think about it, for those who have played DA2, I could see my Shep expressing herself about as well as Aveline does with Donnic.

Shepard: It's a really nice night for an evening.
Garrus: As you say Commander.

What can I say? My main Shep is also a redhead who is better at killing criminals than expressing her feelings.

Ah yes, and then Shepard having a conversation with Garrus on how to calibrate? I can see it right in front of me.
As long as I have Jack with me as a replacment for Isabela :D.

I like that. My Shepard would also be the type to stammer awkwardly about her feelings. We don't really see much of the emotional side to Shepard in ME2, not as much as ME1 anyway. And I think it would suit me for sure. I think it would also make Garrus feel more at ease, oddly enough.

And the Aveline conversation was hillarible! Hehe!

Hahaha

Garrus: When you calibrate, you need to be very careful with your numbers. One slip, and you have to start over.
Shepard: Yeah...
Garrus: So what do you think Shepard? About calibrations?
Shepard: Sorry Garrus, I drifted off a bit.
Garrus: Of course you did.

Palaven, from what it showed in the comic, is basically the picture of radiation - green sky, no plant life (not even grass), and water that I hope is only green due to a reflection from the sky. Otherwise, yikes. The only contradiction is that Garrus compared Palaven to Virmire. It could have been smaller things that reminded him of home rather than everything about Virmire though. One of the few things that I might have guessed wrong about Saren's past, aside from the obvious Reaper tech involvement and his brother being killed after the war was over, is the environment he grew up in. Then again, they never said outright that Saren and Desolas are from Palaven.

As for what our FemSheps want in ME3 - sweet, emotional dialogue, and a definite sign that their relationship will be long-term. My FemShep romancing Garrus is a lot like MainShep, so she's the type to tell Garrus about her feelings for him. Maybe not come right out and say that she's in love with him too soon, at the chance of scaring him off. That's where she and MainShep are different. MainShep told Saren that she loves him many, many times. xD

See, the stoic facade thing fits my FemShep to a T.  She's not the kind of person who expresses friendship or love through words.  She tends to show it through her actions, and ME2 captured that pretty damn well with the loyalty missions.  I would like to see more indications of a romantic long-term relationship between FemShep and Garrus, but emotional and sweet are just about the last words I'd use to describe my Shep.  They should at least make the dialogue so that it can fit multiple Shepards--both more emotional and more subtle or stoic.

Heehee. Oh man, if both Garrus and Shepard were that hopeless, they never would have gotten together. Of course, now that they already are together, I would love to see them both awkward their way through a date. Kill some mercs, try to express feelings in the process, and fail horribly.

Wrong choice of words, I should have said "my" FemShep, but restated the question instead. xD

I agree, they should have dialogue to fit multiple FemSheps. The lines at the final romance scene didn't fit mine.

I like to think that Tali and Kasumi were taking bets on when they'd get together.  At least with my FemShep and Garrus, it's painfully obvious how much they like each other.  And they're both pretty hilariously fail at romance.

Though really, romance between two people that battle-scarred and badass can't be conventional.  My Shep gets Garrus custom rifle upgrades instead of flowers, and his idea of a romantic evening is teaching her how to snipe <3

For my mainshep, she would tell him if asked. Garrus has been nothing but honest to her, so she will return that honesty. But she would shy away from emotional conversations with jokes and wit. Usually, anyway :D

Mind you, they know how close they are to each other. And that's enough for them. No grand gestures are necessary.

How fitting that my FemShep who romances Garrus learns sniper rifle training in ME2. :D

It would be hilarious to see everyone's reaction to the relationship. Mordin's was brilliant. I read the comments Kasumi makes, and they were adorable. Tali would probably tell my FemShep to go for it and be happy that two of her friends got together. But most of all, I imagine my Earthborn Ruthless telling that FemShep the only way to let a turian know you're interested is to abandon all subtlety. Then she asked Garrus for a tiebreaker.
