Seriously, though, let's throw the people who want actual friendships with the LIs they don't romance a bone this time.  I loved all the characters, but I felt like the LIs I didn't romance (Jacob and Miri excepted) had all of two conversations before they tapped out.

@Sable... I partially agree with you. my only problem with some of the other characters.. mainly Jacob and Miranda is that they were transparent and flat. Much like windows. and much like windows, unless there is something interesting, I will just move on to something else that captures my attention. I thought that the other characters had at least a bit of depth... but those two? not so much.

( i mean absolutely no offence to anyone who likes them. seriously, this is my opinion, and i apologize if it bothers you. if it does, please say something.)

of course, I'm biased... honestly, i've always found humans to be boring. even playing in games like DnD, i get bored of humans. I am a bit of xenophile (of course, I suppose we all are, here...)

also, when it comes to bromance/romance.... there's definitly a distinction, HOWEVER ... i love both.

Everyone loves some Garrus! Twas why Bioware had no choice but to allow him to return as a squaddie. Otherwise Garrus would be after them...

And even Chuck Norris is scared of Garrus...

Late response to a topic from five pages ago: I guessed Garrus was around 27 in ME1 and 29 in ME2, mostly judging by the writer's comment and the fact that he was in C-Sec for a while before Shepard met him.

We can't really judge him by personality because turians do seem to mature faster than the average human, probably because of their culture. Every turian has to join the military on their 15th birthday, and if they don't transfer to something else like the Spectres (or get injured), they're in the military for at least another 15 years - that's half of their life. I would imagine that they're also mentally prepared to go off to battle at age 15. It makes them grow up faster. Evolution Saren acted like an adult. I had to keep reminding myself that he was 18... an 18-year-old who already had his own guards and appeared to be leading his own teams often.

Most turians seem to get more cracks in their faceplates with age, but it's hard to judge completely by appearances too. Garrus has a smooth face. Revelation Saren has the same face at 26 as he does at 44, but his face at 18 was smooth like Garrus'.

Another late, less serious response: I saw that Saren-head-photoshopped-on-shirtless-guy pic, and I just know my MainShep's reaction would be disappointment at the human body. xD Saren's face really looks like it fits the pose though, which is hilarious.

Agree with this 100%. I'm reminded most of Thane, I really liked him and was nice to him in chats ... then he started calling me Siha and alarm bells rang (he's cool but no Garrus - also his memory thing creeps me the hell out). After that I clicked the Garrus romance into place (aka reach & flexibility chat) went back to have a chat with Thane and he blew me off with a cool "not right now Shepard" or whatever he says. It totally felt like he was annoyed at me lol but because I was romancing Garrus it meant that I couldn't have a regular chat with Thane. I was learning interesting things about him ... just because my Shep won't do the nasty with him he doesn't want to talk?
Also every time I talk to Jacob Shepard flirts, EVERY TIME. I literally tell her to stfu. On my recent playthrough I've just given up talking to him because it becomes a massive sleaze-fest and makes me shudder lol (reminds me of Kaidan romance ... if they had the icons from DA2 it would be nothing but hearts in Jacob and Kaidan convos I kid you not)
Rant over - yay for Garrus must go finish my recent playthrough and relive epic turian romance *sigh* moar of same plz in ME3

It might have just been the timing. I thought there were more conversations with unromanced Thane than a lot of other characters, and I liked the fact that the topic of romance was never brought up unless I wanted it to be. But I did already have the Garrus romance locked in by the time I recruited Thane, if that makes any difference.

Also, I support icons in the ME3 dialogue system. An end to romance traps!

yes.... yes i agree with this icon idea.  i love that in DA2. 

yeah, Thane kinda stopped talking to me when i got into the romance with Garrus... he was all like, "i have to think about things"  and that was really it for conversation with him, which is sad. cause i really like Thane. j

I forgot what Thane's line was when I finished all of his conversations. I haven't played ME2 seriously in quite some time. (I've only replayed missions for fun when I had the time, and not many conversations besides those with TIM and Legion.) But Garrus is definitely the best about no romance traps. It really never comes up in conversation until you confirm it twice. I like that. My Shepards can be friends with him and have no fear of random creepy dialogue. Now all they need is more friend dialogue on the Normandy.

How about "Dat dextro ass" with rapefaced Femshep looking at Garrus butt? Could be done with the classic ShepLoo rapeface and Talis butt too. Or perhaps both, go team dextro!
