Saren also never acted like he hated Shepard. There were so many times when he could have killed Shepard, but didn't. When he lifted Shepard up on Virmire, Saren could have easily pulled a gun on him/her. When he was leaving on the geth hoverboard, he and Shepard just stared at each other, and neither one reached for a weapon or tried to attack. And their conversations never gave off a "hate" vibe. They seemed familiar with each other, he sounded impressed, and like he really wanted Shepard to stay out of this in the beginning... then wanted Shepard to join him once he/she understood the Reaper threat. If he hated Shepard and thought that Shepard was so inferior, he wouldn't have offered or even tried to explain himself, or been convinced that his idea was wrong. So Shepard's definitely the exception to the rule, whether there are romantic feelings or not.
And the Sarendoctrination continues. Though I do agree with you
Though somehow I think even Saren would despise my Renegon ManShep. Jamie Shepard is the epitome of Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass. I doubt Saren would take him seriously until it was too late; Jamie is such a frat boy. It makes me wish there was a "sarcastic" dialogue option in Mass Effect like in DA2. He would totally make jokey comments at highly inappropriate moments.
