Saren also never acted like he hated Shepard. There were so many times when he could have killed Shepard, but didn't. When he lifted Shepard up on Virmire, Saren could have easily pulled a gun on him/her. When he was leaving on the geth hoverboard, he and Shepard just stared at each other, and neither one reached for a weapon or tried to attack. And their conversations never gave off a "hate" vibe. They seemed familiar with each other, he sounded impressed, and like he really wanted Shepard to stay out of this in the beginning... then wanted Shepard to join him once he/she understood the Reaper threat. If he hated Shepard and thought that Shepard was so inferior, he wouldn't have offered or even tried to explain himself, or been convinced that his idea was wrong. So Shepard's definitely the exception to the rule, whether there are romantic feelings or not.

And the Sarendoctrination continues.  Though I do agree with you :D  Saren at least seems to respect Shepard and want the commander on his side.  How much of that is Saren and how much is Sovereign attempting to dissuade Shepard is debatable.  Sovereign seems to have less of a hard-on for Shep than Harbinger does at any rate.

Though somehow I think even Saren would despise my Renegon ManShep.  Jamie Shepard is the epitome of Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass.  I doubt Saren would take him seriously until it was too late; Jamie is such a frat boy.  It makes me wish there was a "sarcastic" dialogue option in Mass Effect like in DA2.  He would totally make jokey comments at highly inappropriate moments.

EDIT for top:

I got the impression that Saren's the one who wanted Shepard alive, and Sovereign's the one who wanted Shepard dead unless there was a chance that he/she could be indoctrinated. And yeah, your Jamie is a pretty good example of my "Saren's feelings depend on the Shepard" comment. xD

It's funny how well these in-game scenes work for the relationships I planned between my Shepards and Saren. I mean, I probably would have thought of it either way, but there's no crazy justifications necessary (unlike some other scenes and dialogue choices). It's best for MainShep and Earthborn Ruthless. Amazing that the game could show their strange friendship/rivalry without even trying.

*much less dramatic version of actual events on Virmire*
Saren: You shoot first.
Earthborn Ruthless: No, you shoot first.
Saren: I told you to stay out of this, damn it! >_<

I too started liking turians with Nihlus. And my first impression when I saw him was 'hey, that is a cool looking alien!' As someone who quite likes star wars, there aren't many aliens that look both realistic AND attractive.
Yet Mass Effect have managed it with (in my opinion) turians, drell and (quarians.) So I loved it!

Garrus skin tone looks pretty human in that top. And he looks very smug too. He probably just heard about the news in ME3 :D

I hate to say this, but after replaying ME1. There is one line that Garrus says (in an elevator conversation,) that I really don't like. And that is the only thing that I don't like about him, Apart from that, he is perfect. And in terms of Bioware LI's, he is easily my favourite. In a league of his own, that guy!

What's the one Garrus line that you don't like?

I don't like the fact that he wants to kill Saren... and that's about it. I understand it. I just don't agree with it.

I actually played Mass Effect 2 first. I picked it up on a whim and having no idea that it would become my favorite game EVER. For some reason I wasn't all that astonished by any of the aliens in Mass Effect they just fit so naturally into the mass effect universe that I really pay much attention to their race.

I allready knew that Garrus was Archangel and I was sort of jokingly obsessing over him to my sister. My sis had allready recruited him but had me convince he was going to die. Even though I hardly knew who Garrus was I actually got really upset when he got shot. I was over joyed when he survived

Anyway I wasn't really that interested in any of the romance options in ME2 so I decided to romance Garrus because I thought it would be funny, him being such a unconventional LI, and Shepards lines being so cringe worthy. It was all a joke for quite a while then one day I realised I was actually massively crushing on Garrus and the rest is history haha <3

Edit: Ah good old BSN screwing with my formating.

Hey Garrus thread, here's a Garrus picture I made!
Not sure if the turian facial tattoos are permanent or not, but it would be nice to imagine Garrus, Councilor Airquotes and other turians waking up, preening their fringes ...... and reapplying their faded tattoos every morning. =P

Oldish comments now, but..

the way the romance was done felt too forced on me. (not like the Jacob or Kelly romance, mind you) but .... like, "YOU WILL LIKE THANE" lol.

Same here. Makes me feel like an LI hipster. "If you tell me I'm going to like it I'm not going to like it anymore. I like to keep my romances underground. I liked Garrus before he was an option."

Not that I don't love the characters who are obviously intended to be rebellious badasses; Jack, Fenris, etc. They're cool too. But Garrus just has this understated awesomeness. Took a rocket to the face? No big deal. Tapped for Spectres? Meh, it was Wednesday. No constant cursing, no glowing lyrium tattoos. He doesn't need to show you he's epic win. He just IS epic win.

Buuuuurn. My inner Fengirl balks, but my inner Garrusmancer applauds. I am conflicted. :P

I don't think Garrus would ever be melodramatic about a breakup. He'd probably do the same thing he does if you turn him down at the very end of ME2, mask his pain with jokes and then walk off dejected. :(

I'm torn about that last thing. I think Garrus is just too chill to make any truly snide comments at any other LIs and I wouldn't want him to be OOC, but I still kind of want him to make a few jabs at Kaidan because the whole fun of having multiple LIs is to watch them sniping at each other and competing for my attention. ::horrible::

Breakup with Garrus? Tralalalaa! I'm not hearing this! Then again I never saw the point in breaking up with anyone, my Shepards stays true (in some cases just to see what happens to be honest).

As many hipster alarms as that gives off, it's probably true for most people.

Hahaha, so true. I remember showing my brother ME1, and when he asked about romances I told him I wasn't bothering. I was saving myself for Garrus. He told me I was nuts.

Damn straight I did. It may make some call me a hipster but to that I just reply with putting on the orange shades of awesome I borrowed from Arcian and say: Deal with it.

Do you guys think we'll be getting a new normandy and if so, where do you think garrus will be hanging out? I'm hoping this time we get a different setting to chat to him in.

The reason I first went on the BW forums was to find out if Garrus was romanceable. Needless to say, I was crushed. I never stopped hoping for ME2 though. Well...maybe a bit, when Thane was first announced I thought he was meant to be a Garrus replacement. I still remember Eradyn posting this hilarious parody skit she'd thought up, which lampshaded the ridiculousness of the idea. *goes looking for it*

I don't see why we'd have a new Normandy. Seems like a waste of resources to me. Maybe it'll have a new paint job, though.

BW DEV 1: Holy Lord in heaven, the forum's swarming!

BW Dev 2: With what? Viruses? Malware? DoS attacks?

BW DEV 1: No, *shudders* worse! Rabid fangirls!

BW DEV 2: W-What do they want?

BW DEV 1: They're demanding Garrus.

BW DEV 2: WHAT? No way.

BW DEV 1: Way.

BW DEV 2: Pft. It'll go away in a couple of weeks.
Fangirls are a fickle bunch.

BW DEV 1: *nods*

---1 year later---

BW DEV 1: *in falsetto* "Oh, it'll go away in a
couple of weeks, fangirls are fickle!" *prances around in a demeaning
caricature of Dev 2*

BW DEV 2: *glares* Okay, so we miscalculated Garrus'
appeal. What can we do?

BW DEV 1: We can torment them with teasing and
double-talk until all the way through ME2's development.

BW DEV 2: Brilliant! Anything else?

BW DEV 1: Look, you know how they've been begging
and pleading for Garrus all this time?

BW DEV 2: *nods* Yeah? Should we make it so?

BW DEV 1: *snorts derisively* Are you kidding?
OBVIOUSLY they don't want Garrus. In reality they want a completely new race of
wasp/snake/fish men created to cater to their obviously non-turian desires.
Garrus is just a front for their frustrations. See, when they say "give us
Garrus," they're really saying, "please give us any male alien
romance option BUT Garrus."

BW DEV 2: *blinks* Ah...does that even make sense?

BW DEV 1: Shut up, of course it does! It's so
nonsensical it must be true!

BW DEV 2: Brilliant! You have convinced me with your
spotless reasoning. Let's make it so.

:pinched: Those are beautiful, but I was hoping we wouldn't have a new ship. Why waste time modeling and designing a new one when the one we have is already good? And those have 'N7' written on them, which doesn't sit well with me since I don't want Shepard to be in the position she was in ME1, where the Alliance owns the ship and tries to tell her what she can do with it.

That said, if Garrus is a full squaddie then the place I want him to hang out in is the captain's quarters, obviously. :innocent:

Yeah, my Shepard just finished nicking Cerberus' brand-new ship. She's got her own Normandy now, why does she need another one?

As for where Garrus should be put, I'd like him to have a vehicle to tinker with again. I think he missed the Mako.

Right. And according to ME2, TIM spent obscene amounts of money building it. I thought the whole point was that the SR-2 was better because it was privately funded and no expense was spared? The idea of trying to 'top' it with Alliance funds which could be better spent in other areas of battle preparation than on one replacement ship that's not even needed, seems kind of stupid to me.

EDIT: Nope, he's confirmed as a squaddie but they've said they're doing lots of temporary squadmates a la LotSB so we don't know if he's going to be a full companion yet, as far as I know. :crying:

I really hope we can keep our LIs in our rooms. I mean... come on, Garrus and Kaidan have known Shepard for years, so they should move in with her.
I don't like the idea of having a new Normandy, but I'm sure we'll have one. But if someone touches Garrus cannon (thanix one, of course), I'll get mad <_<

Speaking of Cannons, may I ask about your sig? I'm always curious about kissing Turians.
