There is no force in the universe strong enough to disrupt the awesomeness that is Garrus Vakarian.

No force.

None.

Even ATEMPTING to suggest there is a force greater than Garrus Vakerian earns you an invisible slap round the face because that force won't tolerate that kind blasphemy.

I'm sure if Garrus saw the mesmerised glaze over my Shepard's eyes while she was watching the techno turian, then he must have gotten the idea that she like a turian busting some good moves.

And if Garrus dances anything like that, then he will it will be necessary for him to teach Shepard some moves.

Femshep got a dancing downgrade between ME1 and ME2. She actually danced really well in the first one, and at least Manshep's dancing was...distinctive. Now all they can do is the Shepard shuffle. Shep definitely needs more moves for ME3.

Garrus didn't get fired - his job quit itself out of fear.

When I first played ME1, I read through the wiki about all the LI's after meeting Garrus.  I kept hoping that somewhere, somewhere, there was a hidden romance option or something.  But no.  A whole day spent on the damned wiki only to finally accept the obvious: Garrus was not an LI.  I inwardly raeged, pined for that blasted turian, and stalked him throughout the rest of the game, watching him calibrate the mako.  Yes, my Shep was a creepy stalker.  I also kept talking to him in the vague, senseless hope that new dialogue would pop up.

*sigh* I knew he couldn't be romanced but, like you, I spent all the time with him that I could.

Garrus: Shepard, I...
Me: Yes?!
Garrus:...wanted to thank you [blah blah c-sec, blah blah]
Me: *sob*

Ah, yes, the sobbing. So, so much sobbing. Just saw you found that old skit I did waaay back on the old forums...we were so worried about Garrus' status and I remember how so many people were all, "oh, Garrus? Ew, he's never going to be an LI. It'll probably be Samara." (As this was post-Thane confirmation.) I was so frustrated at that point. xD

"what about sexy nibbling? Just kind of tracing a pattern down his neck and collarbone? That'd be fine."

"you mean imagery of Garrus' sharp teeth raising mesquite-scented goosebumps as they nibble down Shepard's back? "

" look, until you've considered how the rasp of a jaw-fringe feels on your belly, you're not a real Garrus fangirl. "

Patrick Weekes is a cruel, cruel man and I love him for that. He gets it. ;p

But we were proved right in the end! :D The confirmation of Garrus' L.I. status was such an awesome moment. I honestly couldn't quite believe it.

The thing is, my first fictional character crush was a guy whose skin was literally stone. Like, he had chunks of gravel all over his face. At one point he was shown cutting his hair with wire cutters. I didn't care - he was adorable and sarcastic and competent.

Compared to that, some metallic skin plates? Pft. Nothing.

I do like how they sort of sound like they're trying to talk you out of romancing Garrus every time they bring it up. You know what? I lived in the pine forest. The smell of a pine forest in early autumn is the best smell there is. You just made Garrus sexier!

I'd like to do a study on men, women, and the morphology of alien hotness. All the aliens designed for men look like palette-swapped humans, but women get all the cool ones. And you get plenty of chicks who dig Salarians and Krogan too.

Though I haven't seen anyone legitimately suggest a Volus LI. Poor Volus. They get no lovin'.

He would ride two horses. At the same time.  Propelled by rockets.

Seriously though, the combination of scents Weekes described is just...mmhmmmmm...Yeah, pine and mesquite? Take me there, please. :D

Zelgadis Greywords, from Slayers

I mean yes, he still looks like your standard human anime character, but he's a twisted monster made out of a human, golem, and demon. Also, this is his most adorable face. (I... when I was very young, I printed this picture out and hung it on my wall.) Most of the time he is just being sarcastic and competent, rather than looking gobsmacked. Heh.

Also, the main female character in that anime is awesome. She is  competent, powerful, and sarcastic. If she weren't so goddam lazy, she'd basically be femshep. Sadly they are not together in it, but there is no cannon LI in that series, so I DO WHAT I WANT.

Wow. this. yes please. I would buy it and make my boyfriend wear it.  I want Calibrations scented everything now.

also, I've said it before and i'll say it again. Techno Turian is badass... I think he should otally show up in ME3 again... and distract me from doing a loyalty mission. :P

also, I hadn't read all of those things from Patrick Weekes... but but... wow.  I also think one is not a fangirl till one wonders what fringe feel slike in their hands. :D

Not just glorious...it would be calibratorious.  Or Gargasmic.  Suns would melt, galaxies would spin apart, and clothing everywhere would be torn asunder.

OMG Slayers! I adore that show.  It's the only anime I know of that has a designated crossdressing episode once per season.

I kinda liked Gourry better for Lina, but Zel was my absolute favourite character.

Hey Garrus thread, here's a Garrus picture I made!
Not sure if the turian facial tattoos are permanent or not, but it would be nice to imagine Garrus, Councilor Airquotes and other turians waking up, preening their fringes ...... and reapplying their faded tattoos every morning. =P
*lurks back*

Eeeeeeeee. I don't know why, but this is flippin adorable.

How did I not see this earlier?! This is hilarious. I always wondered what those tattoos were.

@CulturalGeekGirl: I read your blog about your Shepard's romance arc. It was wonderfully written. I loved how you started out very meta, but as you wrote it started sounding more and more like it was Shepard herself who was writing. Your experience was so different from my own, but it was a pleasure to read.

Thanks! Mass Effect is actually the first thing I've ever really obsessed about like this. I've always been sort of a fan of all trades - one day I'll be watchin' some anime, the next day reading some books, whatever, s'all good. The structure of that blog was entirely unintentioal, but I like it. It captures my train of thought while playing the game, as I invested more and more into the character. (For the curious, blog here)

I also feel like I need to learn photoshop and video editing now (if I have a lull again - I've got some... secret things going on right now. Seeeecreeeet). I was listening to my playlist on shuffle last night, and Tom Petty's "Change of Heart" came on, and I thought "That is the perfect Kaidan/Garrus love triangle song."

But anyway, I actually came back to post this thing I found on Deviantart.

When I heard we had a hug-interrupt for ME2, I had hoped it would be for Garrus.  I was deeply disappointed, but hey...we get to feel Garrus up on his mission, so I guess that's something. Here's hoping for an embrace or two (or three) with him in ME3. :D
