@CulturalGeekGirl: That's pretty much where I think Garrus is at right now. He does awesome stuff all the time, but it never seems to go quite right. That's why, I think, he makes it seem like he's okay with a very casual fling. He's just starting to assume that nothing good that happens to him will last, so he's preparing himself for disappointment. I think, though, that he's more effected by the "fling" than he wants to be. You can see it during the final scene. He admits it to himself, and Shepard, when he says that he wants just one thing to go right. He thinks that if he allows himself to really care about his relationship with Shepard, it'll go wrong, and it'll hurt him, but he's doing it anyway. That takes a strong personality.

And after typing that all out I just want to give him a big hug. Kelly can be totally right sometimes. :crying:
*thinks wistfully about the Deunan/Briareos hug*

Know what? I think I'm going to do something about this. Welcome to the wall of Garrus hugs.

+1

I was reading the last page, with CGG's post of awesome, and was like: "He really, really needs a hug.."

And then I turned to this page and it was like: "YES! I LOVE THIS THREAD!"

*goes off to sketch some arts*

Hey does the hugging Nihlus come without a shirt, just curious

I can mod Shepard to look exactly like Garrus.
Here's an example of what I can do with ME2 modding:

Anyone have any ideas of funny/cool scenes to put Garrus in? I'll post the videos in this thread upon completion.

That Elcor!shep video was great!

Hmm, let's see. I've got Garrus hugging on the brain right now. Perhaps that scene where Shepard hugs the VS? And Tali's hug interrupt as well.

Those comments from Garrus' writer are hilarious. xD And my FemShep was definitely one of those people who liked Garrus before he was an option.

Back to an older topic regarding Saren and Shepard...I suppose I just don't understand shipping Shepard x everyone. There are quite a few love interests for him/her as it is, and there are some that make more sense than others; furthermore, I can love/have the hots for a character without requiring my Shep to. (Best example: Saren. I think he's a sexy beast but my Sheps, while having sympathy for him, don't. I'm also a Saren apologist and my Sheps aren't.) To me, consensual or loving Saren/Shepard just warps Saren completely, and what's the point of liking a character if s/he's been drastically changed to suit fandom's needs? Maybe I'm walking into a more RPGish place than my usual fare allows so I'm underestimating the openendedness of the 'verse. And, for whatever it's worth, I'm definitely not against cracky pairings- if anything, I love them. Just ask me about some of mine sometime. I just get twitchy when OTP supporters start claiming that there's canonical evidence for their 'ships, or flirt with the implication that their interpretations of which character is crushing on which is more canon than another.

Or maybe I just don't know how to have fun. I have no idea.

I only said there was nothing in the game to contradict it. That's a long way off from claiming something is canon. And in the long history that I planned out for my MainShep and Saren, I don't think he acts out of character at all. But I'm guessing that Saren x FemShep makes about as much sense to you as Saren x Nihlus does to me. In the end, it's just fans having fun and using their imagination. Don't like the pairing, don't read the fanfiction or look at the fanart. Simple as that.

Well, there's death.  But that's what TIM's for, right?  Magical boyfriend resurrection fairy and all that :P

Man, Garrus is so much easier to write than Anders; I'm taking a break from DA fanfic to work on a sideways universe fanfic I've had kicking around for months for Kaliya and Garrus.  Garrus is all chill and badass, Anders involves so much more emotional tiptoeing on my part.  SUCH AN ANGSTY APOSTATE.

Of course, I'm not much of an artist though, would prefer to write than draw but sometimes you just can't get an image out of your head.

Found this while digging through my sketchbook, from a few weeks back. It's unfinished but thought it suited the "Garrus needs hugs" theme of this page:

Death doesn't count. Just look at Shepard. She got better! xD Thank you, magical boyfriend resurrection fairy.

So the crazy emotional characters are hardest for you to write? (Was that Saren fanfic ever finished?) I think it's the opposite for me, with the totally sane characters being more difficult. They need a little crazy to keep me interested.

Saren: So that's why Earthborn Ruthless is such a basket case. It all makes sense now.
Earthborn Ruthless: And that's why you're the favorite. :P

Oh, god, that Saren fanfic.  And no, I never got around to finishing it--I had some pretty bad RL crap go down while I was writing it, and I just couldn't deal with getting put through the emotional wringer both fictionally and IRL.  I should go back to it, though, even though it's been months.

I have a harder time writing the more emotionally wrought characters because I always feel like I'm walking the fine line between emotion and melodrama.  I'd say I find RATIONAL characters (a la my Shepard, my Hawke, Saren, etc.) easier to write than highly emotional characters (Anders, my Warden, Alistair, etc.)

No rush, I was just curious. Posted Image And wondering if there would be any more awesome Saren stuff to wait for after Evolution #4 comes out in... five days?

I guess my characters are probably half and half with the emotion versus logic, but the crazy unites them. Now that I think of it, my favorites probably do tend to be the logical type who have an emotional breakdown/outburst after a while (like Saren growling and throwing furnitutre around inside Sovereign). I don't think Garrus had his emotional outburst yet... although it might have been before Shepard reached him on Omega.

Sadly, I don't think BW considers Saren more than a closed chapter. However, even if it's just another comic, I'd like to see him mentoring Nihlus.

This thread is full of awesome [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]Unfortunately I can't claim that I had liked Garrus before he was a LI as I'm new to the Mass Effect franchise. I couldn't play it until recently, when I finally bought a new PC that could handle it. In the meantime I tried to steer away from ME-related stuff in the Internet, 'cause I wanted to discover it on my own eventually, but avoiding everything even a tiny little bit spoilery proved to be impossible. Therefore, I knew who LI were in both ME1 and ME2 and noticed that Garrus had quite a lot of fangirls. Still, I tried approaching both games without pre-conceptions  and I think it worked.

My first Shepard (and so far the only one with completed playthroughs) is mostly renegade, sole survivor soldier. She turned out great, she's everything I wanted her to be, which is rather rare in my first playthroughs, so I already know she's gonna be my !MainShep. She romanced Liara in ME1 and I even considered remaining faithul to her in ME2, which came as a surprise, I never thought I'd like her character that much. Alas, this could not be, not with our favorite Turian hanging around [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/angel.png[/smilie] I guess I'm a real sucker for best friends-to-lovers plotlines and it happens so rarely in games (understandably so, there's simply not enough time to pull this off) that I simply could'n resist. And Garrus definitely was my renegade-Shep's best friend. They seemed to share a lot of common views and goals, yet they'd still support each other even when they'd disagree on something.

Some of my favorite moments from Garrus romance include coversations with other squad members in DLCs, namely Liara and Kasumi. Especially the second one, with Kasumi's "Garrus seems to really like you" comment. Unfrtunately, I only saw this on youtube, so I lack the context and hope that some of you will be able to enlighten me. When does that happen? I suppose it's after Shepard first expressed interest in Garrus? TBH, I thought they kept it to themselves, yet it seems that everyone knows everything. Now I'm having lots of fun imagining how exactly Garrus expressed his affection for Shepard in day-to-day situations, before they shared their intimate moment. I'm guessing it'd be something subtle, yet not subtle enough to go unnoticed. That, or EDI spread the gossip. What do you think?

It's just Kasumi having ninja-spying skills. IIRC, she even recognizes the fact that Morinth isn't Samara if you spare her.

I thought so too, but she also said that "a lot of people want to see you two together". Unless she's a spy AND a gossiper, which is totally possible.

I would be more surprised if Kasumi wasn't a gossiper.

Heh, somehow I expect Shepard and Garrus to be surprised that everybody knows about their relationship.. so much for keeping secrets.
