@Kim: Oh Lord, lighten up. If the heat in the BSN kitchen is too much for you, I don't know how you survive anywhere else on the 'net. People here are extremely welcoming and friendly. I'm sorry you've taken so much offense at what I've said, although while you're alleging that I'm the sole irritant here, you've also refused to place me on ignore, insisted on sniping at me, and chosen not to re-read anything that I wrote and you misunderstood. That makes me wonder, but it's neither here not there. Anyway, if you want to leave, leave- no need to flounce. Hopefully you'll cool off and then make your way back here again.

@Sable- that was really thoughtful and well-written. It also made me think about my motivations-- what makes someone sympathize with a villainous character? Alas, as I am unfamiliar with DA, I can't give any thoughts on Anders, but I can think of others with whom I sympathize. Darth Vader comes to mind- although he and Saren both redeemed themselves (to various degrees) in the end. So maybe that's got something to do with it. Does Anders ever "redeem" himself?

That top of page image is depressing as hell but really powerful, too. Mood whiplash indeed.

LimeGarrus is in progress, although AdmiralCheez, among others, can shoop me out of of the water.

Jesus, people, seriously. If you're that hard on for forum hate-sex, take it to PM. People come to the Garrus thread to enjoy the light-hearted love-fest that Garrus, and turians in general, inspires, not to listen to your personal hate-wanking. If neither of you can be the bigger person and just drop it without needing to get the last snide word in edgewise, then take it to pm and have it out there. Let's keep our little haven free of drama crap. Thanks.

Take it to PM. I don't think I'm alone is saying most everyone else here has no interest in drama-lamas.

Edit: All I'm saying is it needs to be taken to PM.  Because watching you two go back and forth like this is seriously killing the thread's atmosphere and really derailing it.  Do we really want to have to restart another Garrus thread? Maybe some do, I don't know. :P But yeah...let's move on please? Back to Garrus and turians and the fun stuff?

Censorship is a bad thing. And by that, I mean Garrus' disappointing state of dress. Shame, BW...shame. :(

I'm actually surprised BW even bothered with a nude femShep model. Wonder who got that job? XD Well, they should have gone all the way and disrobed Garrus, dammit! Shirtless Garrus...for science!

Garrus is one smooth cat, that's for sure. Okay, except when he stumbles over his words when trying to sweet-talk Shepard...although I still argue he is the most graceful stumbler I've seen yet. :P

Edit: Argh! I wish I could see videos here...unfortunately bandwidth is limited on the train. Dx

That would be such an emotional sight to see, the team make their last stand, give it everything they got and somehow manage to survive within an inch of their lives. They won the war, beat the final boss but they know there was no coming back from this final mission and accept they’re about to die. They’re injured and tired but shepard sees garrus, and garrus sees, her, and with their last ounces of strength try to reach each other amidst all the chaos.  Their fingers touch and they lay there together, side by side, ready to say goodbye to each other.

Shepard: Looks like this is it, doesn’t it?

Garrus:  Yeah, but at least we’re going out in style...so what’s it like?

Shepard: What is?

Garrus: Dying, you’ve done it once already

Shepard: *she painfully laughs* Honestly, I can’t remember

Garrus: Well, I’m just glad...I got to be by your side...at the end

Shepard: *grips hand* and I’m glad I got to be by yours

And just when you think all hope is lost. a crane, driven by three green martians, save them all at the last minute, no one dies and they all get a happy ending, THANK GOD.
See,  even in my imagination I can’t let them die tragically! Image IPB

Questionable as to whether Anders redeems himself.  It's an endgame decision that varies from player to player, Hawke to Hawke.

Though it's my personal opinion that there's enough decency left in characters like Anders, Jack, Loghain, Vader, ATLA's Zuko, etc. that they can be brought back from the brink, and more importantly, it's WORTH the effort to try.  That's what makes a villain or antihero sympathetic to me.

And then there are characters like Saren, Morinth, NWN's Bishop, or ATLA's Azula.  These characters don't have enough humanity left in them worth piecing back together, but you can still see how they got to where they were, and sympathize with their early arcs to a certain degree.  They simply need to be killed or contained, however tragic it may be to do so.

I don't know the artist but this one seems the best to me. If there is a scene of him like that, I suppose he'd look like this. Some fanart of him shirtless just looks like...a person...with ashen-peach skin. (And they even add nipples!)

I've always imagined turians giving live birth, but born with teeth and a crest of feathers that'd fall out in adolescence. They'd be fed live pinkies, like popcorn. Hence...no need for nipples.

I totally want to see children running around in ME3. Like...human children, asari daughters in cute frilly dresses, krogan children, salarian children (I find their feet remarkably cute), and of course turians. Just hope BW doesn't write up a 15 year-old in a 8 year-old's body like in DA2. Once that kid started talking with his overly-adult voice I was like..."How the hell is Carver twice your size and only 3 years older?"

Anders is... a very polarizing character. I personally hate his guts (in a good way!), and would gladly call him a villain. An anti-villain, rather. Yes, that's a good way to describe him.

He's also a very clever anti-villain when you take his terrible, terrible romance into consideration. It's terrible, but in a good way. You see, I felt his romance was extremely forced - i mean, he basically jumped down my throat when I tried chatting him up for boredom's sake. I went with him my first run, but in my second I already promised off my Lady Hawke to Isabel, and I couldn't reject him without severly pissing him off. This may seem like terrible writing (dude can't take no for an answer!), but gosh golly if you think about it - he was making a move on you with the hopes of making you fall for him so that you might choose your love for him over trying to thwart his ultimate plan to free all the oppressed mages. When you reject him, that's basically like saying, "You know what? I might be a big problem for you in the years to come. Good luck starting your stupid revolution with me breathing down your neck, bucko."

Now there's good character at work. I was immensely pleased with him in that regard, even though I took the first best moment to shiv him in the back when it became clear I had to choose between Sebastian and him. I mean, I may bat for both teams (and he's dastardly handsome, that I'll admit) but that does not mean I'll condone mass-murder on innocent clergymen that did nothing but their best to keep the agitators in Kirkwall pacified (Sister/Mother Patrice notwithstanding... the b****).

Rest in peace, Justers. You were a blast to hate.

Oh, look at the time. It's Garrus-hour again.

That was indeed extremely jarring.

Kid: "Oh, my voice? It's just puberty."
Hawke: "You're f***ing eight!"

Perhaps I oversimplified.  But I love Anders to little pieces, and even I have to say that by the end of DA2, he is a Type IV Antihero at best, and there's a very good argument for him being a Type V or full-blown Villain Protagonist.  Of course, I made my Hawke the same way, so arguably in my game, she made him worse

Anyway, back to Garrus--sorry for derailing, I just drew the parallel between Anders and Saren to make a point.  As far as children are concerned in ME3, I'd love to see them.  I'm sure salarian babies are utterly adorable.  But it requires too much additional time on the part of the devs for something that isn't all that important, I think.

That is a really mean/evil pic at the top of the page. :-(

Limegarrus to the rescue. Somehow Shepard's expression fits it wonderfully.
