Well, it's nice to see Tali and Shepard are so close.

And welcome to you as well, Gabriel. The cookies are empty for now, though.

EDIT#2: It's an old pic, but one of my favourites. Credits goes to Meken

Hi thread! I’m yet another new one here, and it’s really nice to see how popular Garrus is. Love this thread and the art works. :3 I was really surprised by his romance in ME 2 since it was actually the first time ever that a video game romance didn’t make me roll my eyes.

So anyway, I suppose it was because Garrus wasn’t originally written as a romanceable char that the romance felt so natural to me. More like a real person who developed feelings along the way. It helps a lot that he wasn’t tailor-made to appeal to women. A lot of people probably love how dramatic Thane is, but I really dug the “two adults behaving naturally” thing that Garrus and Shepard had. Like Roskva said, “less is more”. Also, the reminiscing about a dead wife trope that BioWare seems to be fond of (Carth Onasi) makes me want offer sympathy and room for him to heal, not to romance him.

Also I like how Garrus goes against the tired sci-fi cliche where alien males automatically adore human women. For example, why would Ferengi be mad about tall and curvy women? Garrus on the other hand hasn’t even considered other species before, but in the end it isn’t space-racism, just something that hasn’t occurred to him before. And of course, he likes Shepard for her mind. :)

I'm sure that's a big part of it but it would be nice if he does like her appearance as well. I don't think it would be that strange, I'm sure most of us can appreciate the appearance of Garrus. Most of the alien races are fairly humanoid so I don't think it's a big stretch to say that there could be physical attraction.

Ooh some shirtless Garrus art that I haven't seen before, sweet.

Welcome to the thread SBS (that's your new nickname :P)

And I'm sure Garrus finds Shepard somewhat pleasing to look at.. just the way he hesitates when he compliments her waist..and the way he seems to notice her..assets for the first time..he's just taking it all in.

"I don't think I've ever met someone like you, Shepard"

That has to be in ME3:D

Oh, you're right of course, I didn't mean that humanoid (or even more foreign) aliens couldn't find each other physically attractive. I intented to say that Garrus is more impressed (and even intimidated) by everything Shep has done and accomplished.

In ME 1 he was shown as learning from Shepard's example, so his surprise and hesitation at her interest seems logical to me. To me it seemed that his initial, enthusiastic "Why the hell not" showed that he really was into it from the get-go, but began to have cold feet when he thought about it some more, only to become really happy with the idea towards the end.

Edit: Thanks for the welcome! :)

first of all, welcome to the thread to everyone new!  always good to get more people in on the Turian lovin.  :D
Secondly... yeah, i'm pretty positive that most of us here like the appearance of turians.  Thus many shirtless turians happening.
I agree with you. I think that even in things that are alien to us, we can see physical beauty. Hell, sometimes its easier to.

I agree with you.

What made the romance so awesome was that it was more realistic than the other ones... Shepard and Garrus have been friends sinse Mass Effect 1 and Garrus said himself that she was the only one he trusted and only friend in this 'Screwed-up Galaxy'.

It took time to romance him (2 games) so it feels more realistic and more natural than the other and that's why romancing Garrus makes the most sense (In my opinion).

Ah, I just need to say that I really love the Turian design too. I just like to see a rare exception to the popular sci-fi thing where many species are attracted to beautiful humans, sometimes even so that they're shown to disregard the women of their own species. Bit of a side-track, I'm afraid. Sorry.

Actually that's one thing I wondered about the Liara and Shep's conversation after LotSB where Shepard says "I never thought I'd find peace in the arms of a Turian"... I mean, hey, I was all over them the first moment I saw Nihlus. :P They definitely are designed attractively, no doubt about that.

Possibly has something to do with the First Contact War. Though I can't see Shepard as the 'hate aliens' kind of guy.

A fellow Garrus, lover. I was late to the ME franchise, I started ME1 a month or so before the release of ME2.

I didn't go on forums or anything so had no idea what I was in for. Met Kaidan obviously was like *swoon*, then Garrus. I thought he was pretty awesome. I then found out you could only romance VS/Liara. So any thoughts about him was put to rest.

I then brought ME2 and found out you could romance him. OMG, it was hard not to my first playthrough but then my second I was on him like a *insert funny phrase here*.

I love his voice, so damn sexy.

Yeah, but wasn't Shepard only like three years old or so when it happened? And previously there has been chances to define whether or not she is a space-racist. Not a big deal, but there could've been another dialogue wheel at that moment. Or maybe that would have ruined the cinematics, I don't know. It's not like it devastates the scene for me or anything, haha.

Shepard's parents told nightmare stories always when he went to sleep when that happened.

True, but that doesn't mean Shepard grew up not knowing of the event. I mean, it was the first contact with aliens and they greeted us with fire.

That's the reason why there's some tension between humans and turians.

The relationship between turians and humans reminds me a lot of humans and the Menbari (probably spelling it wrong) in Babylon 5. Sure, First Contact has already happened but both races haven't entirely moved on yet (it's going to take a few generations for things to be completely normal). And regardless, the idea of a turian-human couple is still an unusual concept in the galaxy at this point so there are still social barriers to break through (not that Shepard and Garrus will have any problems with that).

It is all about the voice, I'm not sure if I have a fetish.

Any actor who has a cool voice I find sexy even if he is not "good looking" by conventional terms.
