keeping on topic with Garrus, Turians are and always will be my
favorite "alien" species in ME. I just love the design. Humanoid enough
so you can relate and apply emotion to them, yet alien enough to satisfy
my xeno demands. Unlike the Asari and Batarians.

Turians are
also one of the few races that have their own biological *tic* so to
speak. Those little fins at the side of their cheeks. I don't know if it
was intentional or not, but those little fins do alot to add human
relatable emotions in an alien way. Watching Nihilus' subtly react to
the sovvy attack, or when he displayed jaw dropping surprise at saren
went a LONG way to making me love the art direction of ME.

Gah, I really, REALLY hope Quarians are alien like the Turians. We need less humans, and more alien.

Considering that quarians are also dextro-based, it's likely they'll be as alien looking as turians. Or at least that is my hope, there are enough human-like species already.

The fin bits I think you are referring to are mandibles. And yes, Nihlus has some of the best expressions in the game (as short as his life was). The artists really went out of their way to give the aliens their own way of showing emotion which just adds to the credibility and belieavability factor. Even their walk, the way they hold their weapons, the movement of the head and hand gestures.. some of them are very human but many are "new" and interesting to interpret. Just have a look at Valern's air-quotes.

I do smile every time I see a turian trying to emulate human behaviour or mis-use human idioms. It's adorable watching them to try to adjust to human culture. The other species don't stumble as much, maybe because the differences aren't as obvious but the turians go out of their way to understand humans and that speaks volumes.

They wouldn't be that alien. Going from what I can make out through their visors, I'd say Quarians have relatively human like faces. Plus, there are quite a many fans who would be upset if Tali doesn't get an attractive face.

Someone with twitter needs to bring up the Garrus hug situation to Casey Hudson. Specifically, the fact that every LI has gotten their hands on Shepard's lovely torso but our favorite turian. This needs to be rectified.

Tali gets one even if you're not romancing her, Miranda's hands are all over the place, and some
informative signature banners have shown me what Thane's hands are doing off-screen. Jacob's the only one I'm not sure about. To be honest, I never get past 'the prize' on youtube.

I'm pretty sure this scenario has happened a lot to Garrus when my ManShep drunkenly hugs him whilst in the throes of "I love you, turian buddy!"  I think by this point, Garrus has just gotten used to it.  I love my ManShep--I'm considering porting him into DA2.

My FemShep, on the other hand, has intimacy issues.  If Garrus wants hugs, he needs to initiate them.

Why wouldn't an alien looking Quarian be attractive? Garrus has certainly proven that one doesnt need a human face to be a candidate for a harem.

I support Brohug/Intimate hug (Mshep/Femshep) in ME3. Seriously, brohugs are way, way more common that most people believe (at least where I come from) and aren't considered awkward in most cases.

The only reason I think Garrus would feel awkward is because he's a turian and not a human. Still, that can be rectified (the awkward, not the turian).

MY pet name for him is Garr-bear, but I think he's just Garrus to my FemShep.  Occasionally "dolt" and "hot-headed idiot" when he does something idealistic and dumb   My ManShep's bromantic nickname for him is Hotshot.  Jamie Shepard nicknames all his crew members, it drives them crazy.

I really love the affectionatly calling him 'idiot'  or something of the sort.  i've always kinda had a soft spot for that sorto of nickname.


I seem to be one of the few people on here who's not a Tali fan.     I like her alright, but would never consider romancing her. 
She's more of a 'little sister' type to my Shepards. Like I can see Tali and Shep and Kasumi all sitting around getting drunk. And gossiping. lol. 

and finally...  I know its been pointed out here before... but there are SO MANY times when there's a 'Garrus hug-tease' 
this is one of the first things I saw when I joined this forum two months ago.      and I agreed with it then, and I agree with it now.... it deserves reposting. <3

You misunderstand. I think there's a different set of criteria for the way each gender determines what's they find attractive. There are several degrees of alien, with varying degrees of attractiveness. If an alien is to appear aesthetically pleasing to a human male, it needs to have certain characteristics and features that a human female would not require. 
BTW  Garrus is a candidate for a harem now? Could you please elaborate?

its being worked on... slowly. i swear. i've got Nihlus drawn up, and techno turian is being worked on, and Garrus, but his pose is not easy to draw. lol

I'm glad Garrus has finished his calibrations. Now he had plenty of time to calibrate Shepard...

I always wondered if his loyalty mission would have consequences in ME3. Is he going to be more renegade is Sidonis is dead? Also, it would be interesting if the suicide mission itself would have influence in him. I mean, choosing him as fire team leader could give him more self confidence in his leadership skills... Dunno, I can't wait to see.

Don't forget about that forced hug with Liara *eyes narrow*  I know it's mean but I refuse to hug her in Lotsb because of that moment "Look I know you're crying and stuff but you've had one hug already and garrus has had NONE , it's only fair"

You can even hug KELLY for goodness sake. Don't worry it'll just make the moment more awesome when it finally happens (and it will). In fact I'm going to forward some research to garrus's terminal so he can learn how to give a human bro hug.

Basically, I was saying that female aliens need more feminine features (which are inherently human) for men to find them attractive than male aliens need masculine features to look attractive to women.

The ability to attract, not necessarily sexually. That's why I say "Garrus is attractive". Charming, charismatic, Garrus. Standards of beauty are moot after you develop that kind of bond, imo.

I wonder this, too. I always pick him as my fireteam leader for that very reason. Well and Shepard would naturally choose him, of course. There's no one that could do the job better. I want to see if I can get it to be Garrus both times. I was reading something (can't remember where) about the order in which you choose your squad (portrait to the left or right of yours) is the determining factor, but I don't know if that was confirmed or which side did which.

Who you catch is whoever is on the right of you and garrus will only catch you if you have either jack or thane with you or if the third party member gets killed after you kill the reaper.
