it does help, of course. but... i dunno. 

i mean, it all comes down to personal preference of course, but.. yeah.

It's really ironic that the only female species in ME that we guys have seen are asaris (yeah yeah, don't give me that they're not female. You know what I mean). So it is really hard to say what I find attractive on the other species.

I think he's saying that men need to be physically attracted to women (human or alien) whereas women are more attracted to personality than physical appearance. Or that's how I read it anyway.

That said, I find both Garrus' personality and apperance to be attractive.. had he been a quarian or an asari or any other "shape" he'd probably need more in the personality department to compensate for the difference. I love that manly wide shoulders, small waist, long arms and legs (and the power he shows when throwing Harkin around). I don't need those things to find him attractive but they certainly contribute.

And yeah last time I did the SM I did my "let's kill Miranda this time" run so it was just Garrus and Shepard fighting their way through the Collectors back to the Normandy. It made it feel just a teensy bit more epic.

Only if she's unloyal. I purposely sided with Jack during their cat fight on that playthrough. Let Garrus lead both teams, then for the final fight it was Miranda and Garrus. I think that's all you have to do to lose her, she's the toughest team mate to lose on the SM so might have to check the SM guide.

 Yeah, Hyrule has said that its nearly impossible. she currently is unloyal, and i totally sided with Jack.
I can't stand Miranda....... no one yells at my Joker like that.

also someone on LJ has created their own Tali concept. its kinda adorable. 

aannnnnd back to Garrus.  cause i dunno. staying on topic. I always always debate between bringning him on the mission with me or making him my secondary team leader. I just rather like having him with me. 
But at the same time.. he deserves to be team leader. oh the choices.

Yes only if she's unloyal, its the only way to get her killed (plot armour)

In fact taking an unloyal miranda would have worked really well in my canon playthrough. My shep does not trust her completely and so for her to hear Miranda tell TIM off would have finally made shep trust her. Then her dying would not only have made things bittersweet but it would have left Garrus and shepard to look all cool fighting their way out together....but I couldn't do it. I want everyone alive just to see what happens to them, even if I don't like them (jacob *cough*)

Well, it seems at least the artists who designed the lady aliens of Mass Effect would share my logic....
But whether my earlier statement is true or not, I think there's a lot of evidence that suggests men place more importance on looks than women when choosing spouses.

Who did you leave to protect Garrus on his recruitment mission and who do you think protects him the best? The first time I left Mordin with him and he didn't loose any health. The second I think I left Jacob and he lost about a fourth.

And, in Overlord, what determines who bangs on the door after you get hacked? The first time I got Garrus to do it and the second time Tali did it. Is that one just random?

Yeah, this was my "alternate" canon playthrough (same Shepard with all the same decisions as the canon minus this decision, only major difference was the difficulty level was set to insanity). I've only gone through the SM once without losing anyone and that was just for the achievement. It doesn't feel right to not lose at least one person.

The canon run (without metagame knowledge) involved losing Tali because I selfishly kept Garrus in my team the whole time and foolishly thought Tali could lead one of the teams (I have no idea why I thought that at the time but so it goes..canon playthrough is canon and there are no take-backs). At least it gave me some dramas to use in my fanfic (and it sure throws a kink in things since I was urging the quarians to retake their homeworld, can't wait to see how that will pan out in ME3).

I don't really dislike Miri but my Shepards generally don't trust her and don't feel comfortable with her XO role. Maybe Garrus will be a chooseable XO in ME3? I really do hope the choices during the SM will have an impact with his development. It's kind of a big deal to be team leader during a mission like that.

Hm, I do find myself playing the same Shepard over and over instead of the 8 different ones I had planned on playing before ME3. It's hard to break old habits.

Oh my sole survivor shep did that , Jack was just a product of cerberus's sick experiments (the same twisted experiments that got her squad killed on akuze) and for Miranda to call her a mistake, oh no you di'unt!

Plus us bald chicks have to stick together  hmmmm part of me wants to replay that save before the omega 4 relay to do the miranda death...because that's the shepard that hates her most...tempting. Zaeed already got burned and kelly got liquified....might as well throw in miranda  Plus I want a reason to play that shepard again, I love my super serious bald sole survivor sooooo much. I think it's because I'm used to playing the "we can do this as long as we have HOPE!" shepard and this one is "We have a job to do keep your daddy issues to yourselves"  so funny.

i tend to leave Zaeed.   Archangel is the mission i do first all the time... so my chioces are Jacob, Miri or Zaeed.  since I usually get rid of Miri, then I take the biotic and leave the crazy man to keep the other crazy man alive. 


and yeah, i actually dont' have a playthrough yet where everyone has survived, but... i've only played through twice.  my more paragon than paragon Shep (who won't cheat on Kaidan ... oh GOD thats gonna be hard)   won't kill anyone. i just .... i haven't the heart to play that one till ME3. i wanna make sure its worth it.

I think it's random on who defends him best. Zaeed seems to do a good job whereas Jacob and Miranda are about the same, in my experience. Haven't tried Kasumi or Mordin yet (usually Garrus is the first to be recruited). He definitely loses health faster on insanity, especially towards the end if you're not fast on shutting the shutter doors and getting up to him before the krogan battlemaster (Gorm?) gets to him.

For Overlord.. I'm guessing it depends on the portrait position, I usually choose Garrus first on character selection so he's on the right (I think?) but sometimes this randomly gets changed if you die or the AI just feels like swapping sides. It could just be random in that particular scene, I've only done it twice and haven't really paid much attention to it.

Yeah, it's random. I've played mutiple times with Tali and Garrus in the Overlord DLC to confirmed that.

I think I see how you mean and I wouldn't blame BioWare if they decided to make female turians just smaller and more feminine in human ways if you all know what I mean.

But as a guy I personaly prefer interesting characters in games over just another stereotyped looking "pretty girl". Nothing wrong with pretty girls of course, I like funny bumps as much as most of us guys. Hell yes I would romance a female turian even if they look just like the males.

No one, and I mean no one can replace Garrus to do the calibrations.

According to Hudson, Garrus is done calibrating for ME3. He has a lot more free time now

I'm already surprised the Alliance will give Shepard a ship after he blew up a system so, more likely than not, they'll choose an XO to keep him in line. My money's on either the VS or this Vega guy.
