I think they're only saying that because Garrus and Tali are already confirmed. They're saying the same about Liara. If Miranda was confirmed the Jack fans would be saying it about her and vice-versa. If Miranda and Jack were confirmed the Thane and Jacob fans would be saying it.CulturalGeekGirl wrote...
Ugh, all these "not all LIs will be permanent squadmates" and "Garrus and Tali should be temporary squadmates" threads are getting me worried. For me (and I know this is probably a minority opinion in this thread, but I consider this place safe even when I want to say something stupid), having Garrus with me as a squadmate straight through to the end is just as important as having him as a LI again... maybe even more important. If he has to leave Shepard and go do something else for the latter half of the game, I will be a sad panda. I'm fine if you don't get him until later, but he has to be with me at the end!

I don't think we have to worry too much, though--Garrus is just as popular with the gents as he is with the ladies. He's also sort of Shepard's wingman, the Spock to his Kirk.CulturalGeekGirl wrote....

This is also a strong indication that they always planned to have Garrus as a potential permanent squadmate in ME3. At least my fanboy brain wants it to be like that.AdmiralCheez wrote...
Yep.
The one thing that made me confident that Garrus was gonna be with you in ME3 all the way is the (horribly corny) line he says if he dies as the second fire team leader.
"Sorry, Shepard. Looks like I won't be there with you in the end."
Effectively, the game is saying: GOOD JOB KILLING OFF THE ONE GUY WHO'D STICK WITH YOU, YA DUMB F*CK!
That's what I took it as loooong before I ever joined the BSN. I kept thinking, "Wow, it really seems like the game wanted you to keep him specifically alive there."lovgreno wrote...

Damn straight.Dammit, I want to have Garrus at my side in the end of all three games!

Everyone else has had other interests, other missions that seemed more important to them. Even Tali had to do her mission for the Flotilla. Only Garrus dropped everything for Shepard. He's an integral part to Shepard, male or female. You don't mess with equilibrium.

Honestly though he didn’t have anything left to drop at that point. Of course, he didn’t have hesitations about joining Shepard and understood the necessity of having to deal with Cerberus wonderfully, and there’s all the other good things that have been mentioned. I only wonder if he had been instantly available if Shepard had came while Garrus still had his squad. He might not had wanted to disband them just like that. It could have resulted in something similar as with Tali and Liara, although I think he still would have been a lot more open than Tali was on Freedom’s Progress.
