 I had such a strange day-dream on the way to college where some of the characters from mass effect was in a band performing in the bar on Omega. They are standing in the platform in the middle but it was a flat circle not like a doughnut here and it also rotates slowly.



Lineup consists of ManShep singing, Joker (if needed) backup singer, Don't ask me how they hold/use the guitar (Garrus lead guitar, Nihlus rhythm), Jack bass, Jacob drums. 

Time to put those poles to use  
Miranda, sexy turian female, hot asari and a spiced up tali.

Metal/Heavy-metal song of you're choice since I can't really think of a perfect one at the moment.

A. Swamped with things i'm already slacking on drawing.

then i would totally do it. but i wanna see it. Nihlus on guitar sounds sexy. i may have to try my hand at at least a few of these things. i just dont think i could put it all together.

Just been doing a little bit of thinking and I've come to an opinion about something.
Garrus is the last truly alien squadmate

Now when I say that, obviously I don't mean he's the only alien in game because that's silly. Liara and Tali are both aliens and they are confirmed squadmates but when I say Garrus is the last alien squadmate I mean that Garrus is the last squadmate who actually looks completely alien.

See, Liara might be an Asari, a race drastically different to the human race but at the end of the day she just looks like a normal human woman who's been painted blue. Likewise Tali has a few more alien features (three fingered hands, and birdlike feet) but she's also got a humanoid body shape and if the sillohuette of her face is any indication she probably looks very human under that mask.
I dislike these kind of aliens on a visual level because really, when I see aliens I want them to look drastically different to humans. A few pointy ears and discoloured skin textures don't really cut it with me.

But Garrus? Well he's the only one that truly looks non-human. That doesn't resemble a human being except for maybe on the broadest level. He looks like a cross between a reptile, a bird and an arthropod. He's very notably non human, which in turn helps make his human characteristics stand out better.

Thing is, I love having aliens on my team. I love having characters who look more like giant frogs or dinosaurs or birds talking to me because it really helps cement the 'otherness' of the universe of Mass Effect.
And now it appears that Garrus is the only one left who still does that. Plus he's the last MALE alien squadmate, that's something.

I love Garrus. He's badass and tough and loyal and he can quip till the sun comes up. And now he will stand as the distinction of being the last of the truly non humanoid alien squadmates to return in Mass Effect 3.


All heil Garrus. The Spock to Shepard's Kirk.

I look forward to bringing him alongside me in the final battle too. I've brought him with me in Mass Effect 1 and 2, it only makes sense he should stand with me and Ashley once more at the very end.

I'm with you, V-rex. I like my aliens really *alien*. The Bajorans on Star Trek, for example, were total rip-offs, if you ask me. XP "nose-ridges? oooh! how ALIEN!!" XP)

V-Rex has a point, but what about Krogans too? Wrex and Grunt dont't look exactly humanoid in my books. Also, having some humanoid aliens is unavoidable: not all the players will emphatise with the characters if 1/2 of them are totally non-human looking. Not me, for example I hope that Tali has more than just a different skintone to appear alien, but I'm only one of many.

I thought the drell were fairly alien-looking, even if they gave them lots of human characteristics. Scaley skin and chameleon eyes? Yeah, definitely.

So anyway.. I've been replaying ME1 a bit and was noticing a lot of banter between Garrus and Wrex that I had missed in previous playthroughs. I miss Wrex! The pair of them are great fun, definitely contrasts their species and age difference.

My favourite little bit was on Noveria just before the party encounters the rachni for the first time:

Garrus: What was that?
Wrex: Don't panic, I'll protect you.

@leonia42, I've been playing ME 1 with Garrus and Wrex, too! Just started a vanguard to see what the fuss was about. It's pretty fun. I usually play snipers but I'm enjoying the shotgun a lot!

I love that Garrus reminds me to stay hydrated while I'm on Therum. I lol'd.

His little comments in ME1 add up to more dialogue then what we get in ME2. It's good though because, even though they are minor comments, it shows you a bit of character and personality that you don't get to experience otherwise. Not quite as good as the banter in Dragon Age but still fun. Garrus always has a habit of saying whatever Shepard is thinking before Shepard gets to say it, usually technical stuff or observations about other characters. Reminds me why people fell in love with him before ME2 came out (though I can't imagine the torture of wondering whether he would become a LI or not, thankfully the devs have given us more info early on in regards to ME3).

I'm enjoying this (my third) play through of ME 1. I still hate the Mako, but it's better when I don't try to beeline for a destination over mountains and instead take the path of least resistance. Also, man, that game starts off so slow! I make so many Shepards and just try to get them past Eden Prime and up to Spectre status just so when I pick it up again I'll actually want to play the character. But, that means I've played the beginning like four times in a row!

Garrus does have some great lines. He mentioned the garden ambassadors have in the Presidium and it made me think of his line on Tuchanka about fighting through gardens being fun.

I read through the old forums to see what it was like before everyone knew Garrus was a LI. It was really exciting, actually, to see the moment the Garrus thread got the news.
