Pretty new to this toolset and was wondering if there is a small guide anywhere yet to show how to change a character's race after they've started an Origin story, such as a Human with a Dwarf Noble background, or anything of the sort. I ask because I simply prefer the human character models for my character, and was wondering if there was a way to change the races and then edit the character's face model (Which I presume is the face morphing I've read about).

To not create a new topic I'll add to this one. Was anyone able to change the character origin/race with toolset use? It there a tutorial of sorts or at least someone knows what values should be changed?

OP you need to edit your savegame and change race and morph.



to change orgin/race combo you need to edit and compile the .2da files that are handling those. ie racialtypes and backgrounds.

Would you care to elaborate more on that for a toolset noobie friend? Even if I do change race, the character looks all stretch-out and weird looking - not to mention I wasn't able to find a way to change origin in my savegame.Thanks in advance!

What did you do? I was actually trying to change a character's race today (same origin, just to an elf mage instead of human)

In the savegame



to change the appearance :

root->playerchar->playerchar_char->appearance->appearance_type & appearance_original_type

2=elf

3=dwarf

15=human

46=Duncan!!!11oneone

You can find the complete list in apr_base.xls in the source folder (Program Files\\Dragon Age\\tools\\Source\\2DA)



To change the race :

root->playerchar->playerchar_char->creature_race

1=dwarf

2=elf

3=human

4=qunari

5=dog

i know this is necroing please forgive me but what about editing your background? as in i changed my dalish elf to a human but it still says dalish elf. how would i change that to be a human noble?
