Shepard is the result of a good reaper leading shepards life against the main stream of the galaxy that the bad reapers are leading everyone to.

I think that a twist in terms of the Shadow Broker would be hard to do. (Why would the Shadow Broker SELL the body to the Collectors/Harbinger if he worked for the Reapers?, Visa Versa, why would he do it if there was an affiliation with Cerebrus?)

We are going to need some sort of twist that puts troops on the ground for Shepard to fight. It won't make any sense to keep killing thousands of mercs if you are trying to unite the Galaxy against the Reapers, and I don't want to just fight Collectors/Husks again.

Maybe introduce a sub-faction of the Reapers? A Geth style synthetic that is controlled by them perhaps?

Once again, make the Alliance the bad guys. I could imagine fighting Alliance soldiers. Read my OP.

Just to put together a few errant facts:

1. Protheans visited and observed most other species (Prothean artifact in ME1)

2. A civilization called the beings of light survived the Reapers

3. Reapers have been killed by past civilizations, including Protheans

4. The Ilos team survived the reapers



This makes me think that this whole beings of light thing is a cover for a group of Protheans who went dark and stayed with their test subjects and began to create the ideal anti-reaper army and weapons just waiting for the reapers to come back. The problem is the Ilos team broke the relay and the beings or light showed up for a fight the Reapers didn't which is why they need the Volus guy to allow them to remain secret but know when to strike. They could also be the Shadow broker seeing as they would have advanced technology, possibly even hacking the comm buoys, and might even have the biological knowledge to make themselves appear as other species. The best example of this would be Shiala, who is leaving the citadel because the war is coming. She let Sheppard onto the Prothean artifact as a hint to what was to come, plus people tell her confidential information all the time, which she could pass on to her people to be used as blackmail. This would mean that everything the shadow broker has done is to give the galaxy a better chance against the reapers. collection of geth tech, info on rachni, contacting collectors and trading Sheppard for their tech, all of these would allow a better understanding of all of the Reapers potential allies. But the Shadow brokers network is so vast that Liara was noticed the whole time, so maybe she was feed info and always meant to succeed and rescue Sheppard, then kill a burned asset in the process(the Salarian guy).

Lmao, "We share a common goal shepard"  For twists I would say that shepard's implants are reaper tech, the light beings appear, and some ship that the batarians took would play a role. Then a portal will open up above earth eventually ending with race to the normandy via the mako........

Ive kind of been thinking the samething too that some of the protheans are still alive.  For some reason that conversation with Vigil seemed like it was ment to be more than we think.  I know the music was a part of it, but that conversation seemed so calming and and made everything seem like it was going to be ok.  On another topic it was said the geth might be the thing that ends up defeating the reapers since we know little about them, but if there are still protheans alive than maybe they will be the key to defeating the reapers.  Not sure if this has been discussed yet but I beleive that even though the protheans were not the first race to have technology I think they were the first to have the ability to send a warning out to the next race of beings.  The protheans did not know of the reapers so their attack was a surpise and none of the past races of beings as we know never left a warning, but it seems the protheans were the first and that is why Shepard knows about the reapers.

I'm thinking that there'll be an option (or a necessity) to destroy all of the mass relays. All of them.

Reasoning? Depending upon Reaper technology is too dangerous; destroying every piece of it would be the only way to guarantee that the Reapers could never return from dark space. Each species would be forced to either remain in their own space or develop their own technology to travel between systems. Individuals could become trapped in their current location leading to political and personal complications for all involved.

Hey, who knows. maybe the Prothean science team left behind the schematics to their "conduit." Also, didn't that Asari bartender suggest to build new mass relays? Its a possibility

Does anyone have any thought on who Liara's "father" might be? I'm trying to think up good scenarios, but they all suck
