It's unbelievable how realistic this game is with Nvidia 3d vision. I wouldn't have believed it until I got it set up on my computer. It's way, way better then I expected. I truly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of 3D. Best 3D gaming experience I've ever had.

Yeah, there are only 2 "3d ready" monitors right now but supposedly most widescreen DLP TV's work. Just make sure it says 3d ready. There will be more coming out over the next few years I would guess.

:*( Next year I guess, or maybe try to work some overtime. I'm redoing a boss fight right now and noticing so many things I never noticed before. For example the monster kicked my character away with it's back foot. Who would notice that sort of thing in 2d? but in 3d it's right in your face. Eyes are getting a little sore though, so I'll see how that goes.

Yes, it's truely marvelous in 3d. One of the best 3d games out there (perhaps the best together with Batmann AA).

do you have to have a 3d monitor to use nvidia 3d?

Ya, read some rave reviews of the Nvidia 3D Vision kit, although there are some downsides keeping me away for now:

1) Limited to 22" 1680x1050 TN panels. I currently game on a 24" PVA panel at 1920x1200 so I'd rather not downgrade in resolution.

2) 3D Vision actually cuts your effective FPS in half, meaning 3D Vision will always have higher GPU requirements compared to non-3D.

3) Requires you to turn off a lot of in-game features, shadows and most HDR and post processing effects I believe.

4) $600 Is a lot to spend for people who aren't willing to spend more than $100-$200 on a video card. I'm not in the category that isn't willing to spend on visuals and innovate new features and have seen the bundle as low as $400, but the 22" TN has me holding off.

The huge benefit is that its incredibly well supported by Nvidia, with something like 350 games with specific 3D Vision profiles. I'll probably check it out once they roll out some larger 120Hz non-TN panels. Rumor has it we should see a few introduced/previewed at CES 2010 (Jan in Las Vegas).

You can get a screenshot, it just comes out as offset images that look like a rendering error.  There's also an anaglyph compatibility mode that allows you to preview 3D Vision using standard red/blue anaglyph super bowl/movie preview glasses.  Nvidia also bundles these glasses in some of their video card promos.  You can turn 3D Vision on in your Nvidia control panel to see the offset anaglyph images.

I'm playing with Nvidia 3d glasses too, the glasses are totally worth the cash if you have it as the game really shines visually with it.

It's especially awesome when Walking Bomb goes off. KABLAM!

As a side note, I'm running with every graphic option (on a older Athlon dual core with a Nvidia 260), so no you don't have to turn off any options.

I was going to ask "Hey, got any screenshots" - but I stopped myself before making a COMPLETE fool of myself.

The PS3 has an Nvidia card that has it's own 3D settings. Apparently, it should be releasing within the next year. :D

You can get an idea of what it would look like in 3d without the 3d nvidia glasses....you'll need a couple things first.....

1) A way to view .JPS files. You can either go to Nvidia's website and see if you can dl the jps viewer

OR

Rename any posted JPS files to JPEG. and view them with your choice of various photoviewers.

2) Open the JPS file (or renamed jpeg). You will see 2 pictures side by side of what looks like almost the exact same image. To get the 3d effect you must relax or focus your eyes so the 2 images "blend." A good tip would be to try and get the "Pause" bar at the top of the pictures to line up. If anyone is familiar with the "Magic Eye" 3d books, this should be easy.

The blending is much better with the glasses as they automatically "blend" the picture for you.

The photos are saved in the album in my profile. If you do not want to see a spoiler than do not view. But they are pretty awesome...:D

I got to see this in action (though not for DA:O) at PAX in September, and lemme tell you, it is AMAZING. Every game they had it set up with looked so much better. Even *gasp* WoW. I actually really liked what it does with games like wow and i assume DAO, in that it pulls the UI to the foreground and all the action takes place in depth "behind" it. Can't really describe it. it's too bad there's really no way to try this out without actually being there.

If i had the money for a new monitor when i built my new PC, i would have done this. alas, i didn't, so i went with a radeon 5870 card instead.

It is like having very life like figurines in a giant playset. Like looking into/through your monitor instead of at it. Not so much pop-out gimmick as full depth of view. You can get a very close mock up of what it looks like through the pics in my album using the "cross-eyed" method.

It's okay but reminds me somewhat of Viewmaster slide discs. I'll continue to hold out for a real Holodeck.

just played dragon age with my new zcer gd235 and nvidia 3d.. overall i gotta say the exp is pretty spectacular. i found myself adjusting the depth quite a lot during cutscenes etc, and my only complaing is that on the 23" monitor the txt became blurry in 120hz in top re 1900xXXXX and that your mouse pointer would be way to foreground at inopp times cauing you to have to close one eye here and there to focus where exactly you are clicking.. but again.. overall.. wow.. a whole new way to play.

Hmm I play on my 40" TV and I don't think it supports NVIDIA 3d, now I won't buy another 2k€ TV just to play the game in 3d, it would have been great if NVIDIA could have made the glasses work on any screen (I'd then buy them right away) but I guess its technically impossible.

I agree with all of your remarks. It's very very nice in 3D. The only problem I have is that I cannot play too long in 3D because it seems my eyes get very tired of it after about two hours. Also some cutscenes don't look too great in 3D. Thankfully it is very easy to toggle between 3D and normal view so I can switch whenever I want.
