And what is wrong with such genetic modification? If it is possible to cure cancer or other diseases why not to the same to certain physical and mental conditions? Would you not allow a person who would have otherwise been a cripple to walk? And I don't think some sort of "gay pride" parade is going to stop the reapers.

Indeed it could be taken too far, you don't want everybody to be clones of Miranda for example.
