The only things that work is the pop up window that has the option to play/uninstall/exit ect. When i try to play mass effect 2 i get this message mass effect 2.exe application error, the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b) click ok to close.I even updated it with the update 1.02 and still i get the error.
My system specs are windows 7 pro 64-bit, 6 gigs ram, AMD Athlon II X2 235e processor cpu at 2.70GHz, GPU geforce gt 220 with 1024 MB DDR3 of video memory with the newest drivers. someone please help.
on a side note i have mass effect 1 installed and works fine and plays fine with everything maxed out.

Even if it would start, it won't be enjoyable or even unplayable. GT220 is a very weak videocard and in terms of performance under the system requirements.
It's just another one of those "look we got 1024MB on this board", more isn't always better. 512MB is enough for every game out there. It's the speed that matters and with the GT220 has both a slow videochip and slow DDR3 RAM instead of GDDR RAM.

Indeed, I wouldn't expect good frame rates from this card.
I would, however, think it would run. Have you tried rolling back drivers? I've seen some reports on the forums that the latest Nvidia drivers have caused all kinds of havoc with the ME games (although typically graphical glitches, not crashes).

So you're saying I won't be able to run it with an 1GB intel integrated graphics card then? I have the same problem as Hollow_Tears.

What sort of integrated graphics? Be more specific.
If it's a laptop with an actual ATI or Nvidia card from the last several years, the program should at least start. Whether ME2 will actually be playable depends on the specific card.

Oh sorry. I don't know much about it. It is a laptop and the ME2 config tool says it is:
Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family from Intel Corporation. VRAM 1.00GB.
I am running XP by the way, with Core 2 Duo P8700 and 2GB of RAM and the latest DirectX drivers.
The laptop works for several other games, including Dragon Age and ME1, so I was hopeful it would work here as well, despite not having an ATI or Nvidia card. I don't really know how they compare.
Thanks for your input here by the way, I would be stoked if I could get this working.
edit:
Spent some more time browsing the forums. It looks like you already answered this. Intel 4 series is not good enough to run the game. Too bad, but at least I have an excuse to upgrade. Thanks anyway.

@valkor13 Intel videochips are not supported and there hasn't been one case where the game was playable.

The GT 220 sits quite low in the performance ranks, as you have been warned. If you can reduce your screen resolution to something on the order of what a 1024 by 768 setup totals in pixels, it probably will be fine, as soon as you get rid of the latest Geforce abomination of a driver.
