You will have to forgive me, I know this has been probably asked to death. I've searched for some clear guide on how to do this and I have found very little. The one or two I have found don't seem to work.
Granted, moving around around game files like this isn't my thing, so any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. Or if someone has a link that could help me out.
I've tried moving files to my module and core overide folders like one of the guides said, but I haven't seen any change in the toolset. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it wrong anyways.

I apologize if this got on peoples nervers by asking this, I'm new to the modding community and I was told it could be done. Just been wondering how everyone else was doing it.

I doubt anyone has managed to use Awakening areas or characters since the erf files are encrypted. So far, all I've seen is making new Origins content as core resources so they will be visible in Awakening. Until we get an updated database, we won't have access to those characters/areas.

Thanks for the reply man.
I've heard from others that Awakening is the only one that isn't encrypted among the other DLC, I've talked to someone who has said he has even made it work by just dragging some files around, in this thread:

I guess that is why i'm so lost, I keep hearing different things. Just trying to set the record straight I guess.

I didn't realize the ERF files were not encrypted - thanks for pointing that out.
In any case, you would still be able to use only the area layouts and models/textures (with some work) from those ERF files. The actual areas/conversations/scripts would still be in compiled format and won't be usable till we get the sources. There is a small chance I might be wrong with the areas though.
You can try extracting the ERF files and placing them in a folder under your module override folder. If it doesn't work, you can just delete that folder.

you can just follow this tutorial.
the awakening area layouts can be found there: C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Dragon Age\\\\addins\\\\dao_prc_ep_1\\\\core\\\\env.
to use them fully you also have to place the appropriate model erf into your module's data folder.
