 I recently bought an xbox 360 spring arcade bundle about a week ago and I just rented mass effect. I've been having problems with disk read errors. Mass effect boots up fine every time but about every fifteen minutes or so it'll have disk read error and I have to restart it. I've been making really slow progress but im still able to proceed. I play a little while, save after every major event and then there will be a disk read error. Usually if i have a disk read error i won't be able to proceed, so i don't think the problem is the physical cd. I think it's either my xbox or the actual mass effect game and i hope to god it's the game. I havnt installed any patches so is that the problem or am I screwed?

I am having the same problem now. My Mass Effect 2 plays fine but I can't continue my Mass Effect 1 game because just as I save the hostages in Raining down the sky in goes straight to disk read error. This only happened with the classic version of the game. I had previously played and finished the game 4 times with no problems now I can't even play. I also can't install it to hard drive. Any solution? I tried contacting Microsoft but they won't help. EA support won't help either. I need a solution. I can't keep buying the game every time because of this.

Check if the disc is damaged. The best test would be to run the game on another XBOX.

Hi. I got Mass Effect on my xbox 360. I never bought it for the pc. I can't activate or use xbox live because Microsoft won't allow users from South Africa to use live. Is there no other solution besides buying the game again? I already gone through two discs. I enjoy this game and was looking forward to playing the dlc that came with the classic version. I have not noticed disc read errors on any other xbox 360 game that I own. Mass effect 2 I have over 30 hours with no problems and I started it again also with no problems. It is just Mass Effect that won't play or install.

If you have a good enough PC, you can get the game on Steam. You won't have problems with redownloading it. If you really want the game on Xbox, it might be neccesary.

Hi. I finally got hold of a guy from xbox 360 centre. That's the good part. The bad part is the error is getting worse. Now I can't even start up the game cutscene. I can make a character and that's as good as it gets. I tried everything from resetting the console to original settings, deleting the game to clearing the system cache. Nothing will work. I have noticed however since they replaced my original console that's when I started battling to play Mass Effect. I wonder if the console is not maybe faulty. The clock does not even work Maybe system update will help although I doubt it. He did mention xbox live can now be accessed in South Africa . Is there a possibility to get the game from there?

I noticed that If you have Garrus in the AA outfit with you I got constantly disc read errors especially after the latest DLC came out. So if any of you got this Alternate Appearance DLC You might want to pay attention on the outfits!

Hi. The only dlc I got was the free one that came with the classic version. No game updates or anything. As the game came out is as I have it. I tried starting a new career and I can't even finish the opening cutscene. It must be either game related or disc related. I tried Mass Effect 2 again and Assassin's creed 2 with no problems. I got all my fingers crossed that it is not console related. The xbox 360 is the second one I got. My first one got RROD. After I got my console replaced I noticed 2 things. One the clock is stuck on 2005 and the other I had some issues with Mass Effect. So I pray my console is not giving problems already.
