If you took the bribe, and the Alienage burns anyway, it simply validates the thought that you cannot trust terrorists, kidnappers, and corrupt politicians.
This is one bribe I never considered, even at my Dwarven/Ferengi best....

but you're using meta-game knowledge..of course it still burns...however the PC does NOT know that.

you're basing your decision off of what you know as the player, not the character.

my example was a choice my character made based off facts she knew...not facts I, the player, know.

That's not meta game knowledge, that's common knowledge. Everyone knows bad guys are bad guys, and that taking the word of a bad guy is a bad idea. Meta game knowledge is taking Zevran with you because you know he won't be able to kill you.

Also ussually I don't feel that bad about doing bad things in games. My stomach starts to hurt if I even consider doing that.

Shadow, I actually did get the impression that my return was not that favorable with all the elves. My CE killed Vaughn and took the blame. However, when I returned to the alienage, I kept getting comments from people that they didn't believe the "rumors" about me. It turns out that some of the elves did in fact blame me for the purge and only took it out on Soris because they thought I was dead. Soris is even a bit bitter when I chat with him after the slavers defeat. Oh well, you can't win for losing.

You and Soris are blamed for the purge even if you try to take full responsibility for it yourself.  It's pretty heartbreaking.

Addai, I realize that. Whether we killed Vaughn or not, there would have been either a riot or purge. If we did nothing, the elves would have rioted in protest. Purge to cull the upstarts. If we just escaped and let Vaughn live, purge to cull the upstarts who dared to escape.

No matter how you slice it, Vaughn's inability to "keep it in his pants" means bad things for the elves. I think as a CE, we must realize that no matter what we do we will never win this scenario. The best thing the CE to do is to make sure this the last time Vaughn does this, ever.

I just had a disgusting thought. If you let him live, maybe one of the reasons no one talks to you is because he did it again before Howe imprisoned him

All this talk about Vaughn prompted me to start another CE. Boy is that guy a slime! I will say this, even before you leave the alienage, the comments about your pc are mixed. One elf says, "You always were a trouble maker.", or something to that affect. At least Vaughn got what he deserved.

I always get a little too happy whenever my CE pulls a beheading on Vaughn.

My favourite time was when he dropped noble clothes: I cut off his head *and* stole his clothes. I was even wearing them when the guards came to arrest me.

He's one of the few npc's that cause me to talk to the screen.

"Oh you are so going to die scum!" "Let's see you say that with my dagger in your face shem!"

Always, always kill him. Might be because I'm female irl or it might just be that he's a scum sucking low life who needs to eat a dagger...deep breathes, calm, blue skies.....

He dropped noble clothing on me too, after playing through that origin for the umpteenth time, and I was overjoyed. Pastel blue and pink don't look good on my elf, but she's wearing the dress even still. Ah, the sweet color clashing visage of vengeance.
