The first play through both the paragon and renegade options were greyed out and I took jack's side and so Miranda died on the last mission. Well I'm at this point again and they're still both greyed out is there anyway I can pick one side and keep the other alive? I'm trying to get the achievement to keep everyone alive and last time the only person who died was Miranda because of this moment.

You figured out how to kill Miri? Good for you! She's one of the toughest ones to kill.

On a more serious note, If you leave Miranda with the "hold the line" group, leave someone strong like grunt or garrus with her for protection.

Well I don't know whos side to take this time through can I win back who ever I go against by talking to them afterwards?

I sided with Jack on one playthru, TRIED to get Miranda killed, PLUS I took her to the Human Reaper battle, blew up the station and she told TIM to "take this job and SHOVE it!" but she lived.

It depends on WHO leads the fire team and if HE is loyal (try Garrus) and who is in the ducts.

To not have the options greyed out you need a HIGH (60%+) paragon OR renegade score PLUS you should have your class speciality option with 100% not the 70% choice. So either a "goddie two shoes, nice guy" or a BAD ASS, but 50/50 does not work, holds true for most of the game.

pretty sure you can talk to miranda afterwards but not jack, so side with jack and you'll be able to regain her loyalty later

I took Jack's side and had Miranda on the fire team with Garrus and had everyones loyalty and she still died. During the loyalty mission I asked her if she wanted to talk to her sister and she said no and instead of tell her she should I said "alright fine" and we left without her talking to her sister. I don't know if that made a difference.

My current playthrough where I am at the argument I had her talk to her sister during the loyalty mission though.

you can talk to jack afterwards to fix her as well. you need some ridiculous amount of paragon/renegade though. i think i needed something like 1200 renegade at level 28.
