I'm calling it: Threesomes with ME1 and ME2 love interests if your paragon/renegade is high enough.

Sex is the best seller after all. So, forum after ME3 release will look like "They tried to appeal to porno crowd". Heavy risk indeed

I'm surprised there's no 100 page complaint topic about it.

"Potential sex elements in 1 & 2 dumbed down for RPG and shooter fans! Bioware, fix plz!"

Well, Bioware also made the mistake of not releasing it on PS3, which could have increased sales.

Microsoft has the ability to force console exclusive games to help sell their XBox 360. They've done it many times before and many times now, and definitely not in secret.

As ME1 was published by Microsoft could Bioware even sell it on the PS3 without their say-so?

That's the problem. If EA can officially gain full publishing rights on the original Mass Effect, then there's no reason they wouldn't go and port it over to the PS3.

RPG appeal? Shooter appeal? Neither are the answer.

Romances are the real selling point! ME3 will appeal to the smutty fanfic reading crowd! We'll see more than just Tali's face! >.>;

HOLY **** this man speaks the truth

This topic was supposed to be about the financial aspect of ME2, which is bound to tie in with people's opinions on why they think the game could have done better. I would like to see some more figures, because I find it hard to believe that ME2, one of the highest rated games for xbox, is not making more money than its predecessor.

It doesn't get any more official than that 1.6 mio figure (all platforms, NA+Europe) EA provided themselves back in April.

It's probably ~1.8 mio or so right now. Of course each sold copy now is worth "less" than the copies sold back in January as special offers on the game become more and more frequent.

Games with high ratings won't exactly mean it is gonna sell well just so you know, and secondly most entertainment that gets a sequel usually bombs in one way or another.

it sold 2 million copies in it's first week, it's far from a failure.

Wrong, it shipped 2 million copies to retailers (numeric and physic). It sold less than ME1 and certainly not one million on PC. EA stated in april that the game sold 1.6 million copies since january (*).
Selling less than ME1 after having dumped the game to appeal to the shooter crowd is not a real success. Dragon Age sold more. ME1 sold more. And looking as other shooters, ME2 remains under RDR, CoD, ... So, it's not a failure as a game, it's a failure as a shooter and a failure comparing last BW games that were more RPG oriented (so a more limited market than shooters).

^ This is the sheer idiocy i speak off. Where did bioware state that they specifically were targetting to the shooter crowd? They didn't just ship 1.6 million copies, they sold more than 1.6 million copies.

Seriously go cry in the dissapointment thread, now instead of bashing the game, you try to bash the financial success of the game, you are seriously the very meaning of the word "pathetic."

They shipped more -they sold ~1.6 million copies through. At least back in April.
