Morons who think "digital units" are not "online downloads"

itt:

morons who think digital units is more than just ea online site

In terms of Digital, I'm going to answer by sort of not answering. We are seeing significant uptick. It's particularly sharp with titles that have a history of being strong PC titles. We're still getting our arms around exactly the shape of that business. How much of it is coming off of our own site? How much of it is coming off from Steam? And I'm sure we'll let you in for more information on that at a later date, but consider it a small business growing rapidly for the moment.

The numbers DO include Steam, they just don't specify the percentage of it.

ME2 did good, no doubt about that. But ME2 didn't have many selling points that make a super hit game, i.e. multiplayer.

Why do you think they're thinking of multiplayer for future ME games? To sell more units.

Of course the numbers include Steam (Edit: thanks for the quote Merci357). Shortselling your own products in a fiscal report to your shareholders isn't smart business.

So what ? Are you implying EA doesn't know how much money Valve transfered to them for sold ME2 units ? Seriously ?

You *do* know that EA bought BW, right ?

BW=EA. ME2 belongs to EA. Steam=Valve. They "publish" their own games (HL2, L4D), they *distribute* games from other companies like EA. That doesn't make Steam a publisher of ME2. (lol)

Oh, they make more money per unit sold if they distribute it over their own service, no doubt about that -but what good does that do them if they can't sell nearly as much as Steam can ?

Sell 1000 copies for 100% profit or 100.000 copies for 70% profit. What's the better deal for you ?

Yeah. Right.

Sold what 2 million copies in one week? I'd say that's pretty good. Thing is though I don't want a ton of people playing ME2 like MW2. They already streamlined it so I don't want tools ruining one of my favorite games.

Personally, i think it was a good idea making this thread. I've seen so many people who thought ME2 didn't sell well because they couldn't understand the charts or the articles. But reading the first comment on this thread is enough to know that ME2 is the first blockbuster of 2010 and also the first game to be nominated GOTY 2010 (IGN).

I think that's enough bickering and silliness for one thread, thank you. I'm shutting this down. Y'all can argue BioWare's financial situation in your Econ or Business class.

End of line.
