Ok, it happened again, and yes, it's same as after 3.30. Now, such topic would be created anyway, so I'll start.
PAL PS3, 80 GB model, Dragon Age version 1.02, all DLC and Awakening installed. EU, region 2 version of the game. Had no problems with version 1.02 and firmware 3.30 for more than 300 hours of gameplay.
Game randomly freezes after updating firmware to 3.40 pretty much like after firmware 3.30 update.
Fix it, please, if you wanna sell any Leliana DLC via PSN.
Game freezes after PS3 3.40 firmware update

oh god....... no offense, but I pray its just your PS3, I can't handle another month without DA:O

Hm, chances that it's just my PS3 are slim if not nonexistent. First, it works perfectly fine with anything else, no problems even with very old games like Viking. Second, it had no problems with DAO until this update - 300+ hours it's a lot of time. Third, issues are absolutely same as the ones that occurred after 3.30 update. This is no coincidence.

Oh no. I thought I'd check the Bioware forums before upgrading this afternoon......... better wait for it a bit longer I suppose. Though I'd really like to check out the PlaystationPlus and other new stuff...

damn it to hell, why did Sony have to release a firmware update so close to a DLC release?

Ok, I've checked it out more closely. Well, issues are 100% same as they were after 3.30 update. Exactly same.
Screen "checking save data" takes several minutes, performance slightly worse than prior to update, random freezes (in my case rare - once in several hours - still stopping playing it right now). We may rename and use the old thread here.
They'd better fix it really fast. And this time for real.

Well, the good part is... if the symptoms are the same, the fix may be the same as well.

I figured I'd check the forums before updating...so no update for me this time. I refuse to go through that mess again.

I almost downloaded the darn thing last night. Thank god I resisted. This is ridiculous!

And now something VERY interesting... several hours ago I've been unable to sign in into Dragon Age servers. Perhaps they were down? And now they're available again and for some reason all the issues are gone. Checking save data took 2 secs and overall game was running like before 3.40. Played for 3 hours.
Still, inconsistency is worrying. We'll have to wait and gather more feedback. I'll inform you if those issues are gone forever in my case.
It would be very helpful if ChaosRaident would be so kind to check his game out and tell us if issues are gone for him or not.

Oh my god... the same problem again?
I'm not going to download ANYTHING until all problems related to Dragon Age be solved.
So Sony and BioWare, if you want I download any DLC or game via PSN, fix the game NOW.

Yep, it totally freaked me out - I mean, same issues again. What did they fix? Well, now as I mentioned issues disappeared for some reason so I'll wait and see if they'll be back.
I really want that Leliana DLC, but if I'll see more freezes, checking save data and performance issues...

I have been playing for about an hour and a half, I finished Shale's sidequest and rescued Anora, and I haven't had any problems other than the game being choppy as hell.

okay just throwing DA;O in first time since the newest update that means nothing for me the PS3.
checking save data took longer than normal.about a minute.
took a few seconds for my save to load on the save list.
load time is the same.
game froze as I was running across Denerim market district. 10 minutes in

Thing is I bet BioWare is probably pulling their hair out as well.
I am guessing it is because both updates from Sony have coding for display information. The last one had the 3D packaging, this one has new display coding for PSN+ as well as being able to now change the look of the PS Store a little bit with a change in name displaying.

One of their debuggers probably went into their office and flipped out smashing stuff like i would after they went through all the trouble of debugging the last FW problems. I decided to update to 3.40 won't be able to test out DA: Origins till later tonight. I plan on getting KOTOR I & II anyhow this month coming up. For some reason on a star wars kick atm with buying Force Unleashed and wanting my KOTOR collection back. I'll report back later tonight if i have any problems with DA: O.

Good luck, am going to give it one more try myself, and if not might have to knock the dust off my old XBox and fire up KOTOR myself.
