Liara's not a 'girl', thus, does not have to follow or respect the 'girl code'.
See, jlb, I've given that some thought ever since I read a very confusing Casey Hudson interview regarding Liara's gender.
When I say an alien entity like the asari is female, I ask myself several questions:
Does it have boobs?
Does it have a feminine body?
Is it sexually compatible with men?
Can it become pregnant?
Does it have a female name?
Is it referred to (even by its own race) using feminine pronouns?
Does it have three successive stages of life whose titles all refer to the feminine gender?
When it copulates with a human female does the whole scene scream "you're watching a lesbian sex scene"?
Now when it comes to the asari you'll notice the answer to each of these questions is "yes". So I say, "yes", Liara is a girl. She is definitely, definitely, a girl.

No. You are wrong. Casey Hudson says so.

Feron will be like "omg they rly rebuilt you, it worked!", Shep will be liek "hey thanks for helping recover my body and stuff!"

The way she was acting in the story about him and the way it came

Mono-gendered, yes, but they have their own personal gender. Which just happens to be similar to the human gender of female, but not the same.Shavon wrote...

Liara herself only says that her species is mono-gendered. So yes, they have one gender. And that gender is female.
Or at least, it is so close to female that for all practical intents and purposes it is female and it becomes quite ridiculous to pretend otherwise or try to act like there wasn't a lesbian romance in game 1.

I believe the Codex entry begins, "The asari are an all female race..."
It comes down to this, who do you trust? The Codex or Casey Hudson.
I place all my trust in Casey Hudson...you should do the same. He's a person...the Codex is just a bunch of words printed on a screen. pffft.

And btw, I don't see anywhere in the comics that Liara is in love with Feron. It's come up again twice now in the past week, maybe more in these forums. So, I even reread the fourth issue. Nowhere do I see any flirtation or reciprocation on Liara's part towards Feron. Seriously, OP, I don't see it. Feron says a few flirty things, but that's just him being a goober. Liara and Asari in general have a different perspective on death. From her question to TIM in the first comic, this different attitude is hinted at. It's never explained what Asari do with their dead, but it is apparent that humans place more importance on retaining and taking care of the physical body much more so than the Asari. So, Liara's seemingly cold indifference towards Shepard's recovered body in the end, it just some more of that attitude. She has done all that she can. I doubt she ever believed the reconstruction could ever work. Rescuing Feron was a way to distract from her mourning, and to do what she could for the individual who helped her. SHe's not in love with him:huh:

Okay I've fixed it for you (you're welcome!).
And my answer is - my eyes! I trust my eyes!
They were talkin' to me through the whole Liara/femShep sex scene.
"Yo, Night, you watchin' a lesbo sex scene, girl. Fa sure. Damn."

Considering there's only a mention of 3 Drell, why they were introduced is anyone's guess.
Considering that part of the concept of the race includes the fact that their population is devastated even worse than the Quarians with only a few hundred thousand left, it would be really stupid if they were all over the place.

The eyes can deceive....Casey Hudson never deceives.
Since I'm not crazy, my eyes didn't talk to me during the Liara/FemShep sex scene, so I'm not sure what their opinion is on the whole thing.
Casey Hudson says 'it ain't lesbian if one of the participants is an asexual but female looking alien', so I go with that.

Yes, I remember Casey Hudson explicitly mentioning that the asari AREN'T females.
I've read interviews where they say she's female, and I've read interviews where she's not. The answer? They don't know what her fruit is yet, or if she even has fruit. So they don't have a real answer.
Though apart of me wonders if she's an "it" (and for those that don't know what an it is, it's mostly women that were born with both parts.) If that's true, and if men found out, expect lots of long cold showers, with lots of soap scrubbing.
