No one, because if there is a God in heaven this movie won't be made. You can't make a movie of a videogame with seemingly infinite outcomes and backstories, so random that there isn't an established canon, and more importantly, YOU CAN'T MAKE A MOVIE BASED ON A VIDEOGAME. They NEVER work. Peter Jackson realized this with Halo and went with the Oscar-nominated District 9 instead.

I don't think that was the problem with Halo, it only had one possible outcome.

No movies with Shepard in it, he/she ( even though I believe they'd go for he because of the commercials use male as default ) should only be seen as faceless figure in a shadow or just mentioned at some points, but I'd prefer movie resolving around pre- Shepard age. With Anderson and Hackett being in the center.

If they just have to include Shepard, this is my choice for maleShep.

What about CGI Shepard?

I think the movie would be CGI not live action, which means the voice actors from the games would prolly retain their rolls

Pretty sure the movie being made is live-action. Also, the games are basically interactive CGI movies in my opinion.

Vigo Mortensen would make a nice default Shepard. Unless the planets align and the seas run red, and they go with a female Shepard, in which case Rhona Mitra.

Christian Bale, just for the sake of him saying, I'm Shepard! to Jokers face.

"Bale"

We do not need Bruce Wayne to play Shep. " Out of the list above, I'd say Sam Worthington or Matt Fox, but we would really need an unknown. A "Chris Pine", if you will.

aren't the mass effect books considered cannon?

They are, but there is no official canon in the games. There is a default Shepard, but his choices are still not considered canon. All indications right now are pointing to a movie based on the games. I would really like to see a unique story written specifically for the screen, though, but I would settle for one based on the books.

Ok second questions, aren't the games based loosely on the books?

If so there is a canon to go by right?

I agree whole-heartedly, there should not be a Mass effect movie EVER, it would only ****** off everyone who didn't play the game the way they showed it on the big screen. Not only that, the game was too long to be compacted into two and a half hours without cutting out stuff, and we ALL know how that'll go with fans.
But... since they're going to do it anyway, I choose Brad Pitt.

I vote for the movie to not be about Shepard, if they go through with it.

I think there should be a movie, My reasoning is that I, like most other people here, have multiple Shepards, and i like to think that each one is a different story seperated from the rest. to Me, the movie would just feel like another rendition of that story, just like the comparison of, say, a paragon male shepard and a renegade female shepard.

Shepard should be played by Keanu Reeves.

Honestly.

No... please NO :pinched: It was already bad enough how Milla and her husband ruined Resident Evil.

IF there is a Shepard in the movies I guess Karl Urban would work... but I really hope there isn't:?

If the movie is about the First Contact War or some other event in the ME universe that is not directly tied to the trilogy, then I will reserve my tickets as soon as I can. If it is about the trilogy, I'll probably break down and watch it anyway, crying the whole time.

you do realize there's a canon storyline to mass effect right, just look at the choices that translate into ME2 with default shepard, that's canon

KOTOR also has established canon (dark side male revan, light side female exile)

It's been stressed time and again that there is no canon to mass effect. Also, Revan was light side in canon.
