My fondness for dwarves, espeically the commoner is well known Posted Image  But there are those who love the HN Origin and I'm curious what reasons those are...  I know HN's can

- Kill Arl Howe

- Become King/Queen

But what else drives the HN? How does that Origin effect the plot? I was planning on making a HN/Alistair and HN/LelianaPosted Image

The reasons it's my second favorite:

1. Your Arch-Nemesis is voiced by Tim Curry, resulting in extra dialogue in which to enjoy Curry's love chocolate voice.
2. The only origin where you get a full, functional, and cool family to start with.
3. The only origin where you can actually get laid.
4. The chance to proposition Duncan for sex.
5. You get Dog right off the bat.
6. It makes Awakenings relationship with Nathaniel Howe much more interesthing.
7. Wynne snaping to attention upon learning you are indeed one of her betters.
8. You can play a rogue or warrior that's human.
9. Your mother takes your father to bed wearing full metal jacket and a mace.
10. Did I mention getting more Tim Curry?

I like to picture him dressed as Frankenfurter during the battle with him.

Eh, I just thought it was the official storyline. I tend to create my main characters in my very image when playing RP games, so they're pretty much always human. I do though (even though not recorded on my profile) have an Elven Mage alternative who "tags along with my main".

Wynne snaps to attention? To a HN? Damn I gotta try that now.

Is the family shield/sword good? I got a noble as far as Ostagar and quit....

personally I like the human noble because...as much as I love dwarves...well not elves so much..though I do love DA's take on them...pointy eared holier-then-thou's put in their place finally...I just don't relate or get "sucked into" a character that's not human....problem I have in most games.

not that I can't enjoy playing other made-up races..I just can't get into them near as much...playing a human in most games, especially DA:O just draws more emotion from me because I can actually relate to them.

As a straight male DN, perhaps. But the human noble origin, regardless of gender or preference, you can get laid.

Not really. She just says something like "Oh, my Lady Cousland" and never mentions it again.

Well that's because in the DN origin the girls are trying to have your baby. Incidentally, the DNM is the only one who is guarenteed to have a child that isn't spirited away by Morrigan if you do this.

How many origins have you played through, though?

I think you worry too much about the class. I mean, how many attempts have you made to finish the game so far? It seems like a lot.

You can get a decent sword and armor to start out with...and become a tyrant of Fereldan...and Sweet Iona.

I guess revenge is the main motivator for the human noble...and getting blackmailed by Duncan.

Oh.... about 20..... >.> I can't help it... I like... obssess over RP roles in my head and get confused.....then I'm like.. will my DC look good romancing Alistair? will my mage look good romancing Zev?

Then I crumble and delete everything and start over....

I just know from when I heard about DA I had two origins my heart was set on: DC and CE..... and torn between the two ever since....

I've done the same in tons of games, although I usually just get two to three hours in and think this may not be working and then go back to the drawing board.

Personally though, I think the Origins do perfectly well for any character concept they allow you to play. I'd find whatever you just enjoy and has good synergy with the party members you like and let the story carry you on.

Plus I heard this game was haaaard. Like really hard. So I've been replaying Mass Effect 1 and 2 in order to avoid playing DAO...

I SUCK at party management... I have no idea how to get by...

I fail epically as an RPer....

It's not hard if you play on easy. Seriously, my brother has walked away from the game during fights before and still managed to win.
