So if we were to guess Saren's class (i.e. Vanguard, Soldier, etc), what class would he be?  I pose the same question about Nihlus and other NPC characters you have been wondering about.  For example, Miranda seems like a Sentinel, Tali and Legion are Engineers... but what exactly would ME2 Garrus be? Is he classified under sentinel?

Infiltrator, maybe an Adept, I'm not sure. I don't remember him using anything but Pistols/Grenades, even in cutscenes.

Saren is probably a Vanguard, Nihlus doesn't really do enough to tell what class he'd be, ME2 Garrus is an Infiltrator

You can't really clasify Saren or Nihilus as anything based off what you see of them. If I were gonna go off what I saw in me1, I would say Saren is an adept, and Nihilus.. there is no way of really knowing.

Garrus is basically a soldier with overload in me2.

Engineer = Pure Tech
Adept = Pure Biotics
Soldier = Pure Combat
Infiltrator = Hybrid Tech + Combat
Vanguard = Hybrid Combat + Biotics
Sentinel = Hybrid Tech + Biotics

So... going for skills alone (weapon proficiency varies too much ). classes are not so easy to identify as in ME1 though.

Garrus: Infiltrator
Kasumi: Infiltrator (without sniper rifle...)
Legion: Engineer (even if his class is really 'geth infiltrator')
Tali: Engineer
Mordin: Engineer (that can't manage to open the doors at the suicide
mission...)
Thane: Vanguard (his active skills are all botic based, could pass as an adept )
Jacob: Vanguard
Miranda: Sentinel
Jack: Adept
Samara: Adept
Grunt: Soldier
Zaeed: Soldier

I remember reading somewhere that Mordin at one point was going to have biotics, that woud have made 2 of each class for ME2. Now I feel the party is unbalanced, might not be able to sleep well...

I think he would be a Vanguard on Virmire, but then at the end when he's resurrected and that husk... or whatever it is that he is, he's everything. Now, I know he's the bad guy 'n all, but that's cheating!

Saren is an Adept. I think somebody in BioWare confirmed this.



Would make a worthy adversary for my ME 2 Sentinel Shepard, as opposed to my retarded ME 1 Vanguard Shepard with AR training in ME 1. -.-

The only weapon I've seen him use is the pistol, so i'd guess he's either sentinel or adept.

When he's entering the Council Chamber at the end of ME1, he smokes a keeper with a geth pulse rifle (amusingly, they screwed up and used the normal AR sound effect).  One handed, no less.  You can also see it secured to his back on Ilos during the Mako drop scene.

When I fought him on the Citadel, he used sabotage and overload on me. Difficulty may have something to do with it, as he didn't use tech powers on veteran, but did on hardcore.

He threw everything at me on Hardcore/Insanity. Overload, Carnage, etc. But on lower difficulties he only stuck to one or two.
Although one time he couldn't hit me at all because I kept using Lift on him, so he couldn't do anything and he died within a minute .

Saren uses biotics and close combat so I would say vanguard.

The sniping, scoping and dropping Garrus is a infiltrator or soldier with a sniper rifle spec.

Nihlus is hard to say but he seems to prefer sneaking so I would say infiltrator.

Page 125 shows him sniping. Next 2 pages has him using an assault rifle. 129 has him pulling a pistol. Uses a pistol again on 165.Had a rifle again in 208. 292 talks about Saren having multiple weapons. 296 shows the assault rifle again. 308 shows pistol again.



Never any mention of Saren using tech or biotics in the book. The book seems to make him a soldier. But ME1 gives him tech/biotic powers.

First thing I thought of when I saw this thread was "badass." Saren is Badass class...

Actually I figured it out. Through Revelation, Saren was a Soldier. But when he first tried to interface with Sovereign, he died. TIM brought Saren back for reasons only known to him. When Saren came to, he was able to completely change his class for ME1. He picked Sentinel.
