life/love simulators.
this is no surprise. ea's MOST succesful game are the Sims 1, the Sims 2 and the Sims 3. why not do the same for mass effect 1, 2 and 3??
http://www.gamasutra...ews?story=23980
>>The Sims 3, the latest in Electronic Arts' blockbuster life simulation franchise, has exceeded 1.4 million PC and Mac sales in its first week on shelves, the publisher said today. According to EA, that figure represents the strongest PC game launch the company has ever had.<<
ea sells 20 million with the sims, so no wonder they buy bioware when all games have love simulation hand-in-hand with character storylines so they can target that audience. Websites reviews do NOT MATTER when there is love interests in game, even if GAMEPLAY and BALANCE and STORY MAKING SENSE are placed on the backburner because of it
EVIDENCE----
http://arstechnica.c...being-filth.ars
>>sales went UP after foxnews reported about the nonexistent full--nudity in me1
http://social.biowar...egory/128/index
>>character threads are the LARGEST threads on the forum
elf/alien love interests matter most for sales, THEN same-sex love interests, THEN potential nudity. the perfect game for BW/EA profit is to include the first 2 or all 3 in one game, like ME1 DAO or KOTOR. mass effect 2 failed expectations because it only included the FIRST to avoid controversial news
MORE EVIDENCE----
Bladur's Gate I + expansions
romance? no
success? about two mil with expansions
Bladur's Gate II
elf/alien romance? yes
fully voiced romance? no
same-sex romance? moddable

Bladur's Gate II Expansion
elf/alien romance? yes

same-sex romance? was moddable
nudity? no
success? over 0.5 mil for EXPANSION
NeverWinter Nights I + expansions
elf/alien romance? yes
fully voiced romance? no
same-sex romance? no
nudity? no
success? 3 mil with expansions
KoTOR 1
elf/alien romance? yes
same-sex romance? yes
nudity? no
success? **3 MIL ALONE****
Jade empire
elf/alien romance? NO
same-sex romance? yes
nudity? no
success? 1 mil max
Masseffect 1
elf/alien romance? yes
same-sex romance? yes, alien and human if modded
nudity? partial
success? OVER 2 mil alone
DA Origins
elf/alien romance? yes
same-sex romance? yes
nudity? partial
success? OVER 3 mil ALONE
Masseffect 2
elf/alien romance? yes
same-sex romance? moddable
nudity? hardly
success? under 2 mil so far
DA expansion
romance? NO
success? NOT EVEN 0.7 mil
****i urge BW to PLEASE make mass effect 3 WITHOUT romances so that the gameplay and plot does NOT suffer becaues of it****
i dont care if it doesnt do as well because sales dont matter to me, GAMEPLAY and MAIN STORY MAKING SENSE does
the rpg and shooter industry is being dummed down by characters with seductive voices. bethesda studios doesnt need romance in elder scrolls to be successful because their rpgs are superior in GAMEPLAY....

I am shocked and appalled at BioWare's lack of interest in my personal input. I have not gotten so much as a phone
call from them and I don't know how they expect to get anything done if they don't know what my opinion is.

Frankly, their lack of giant monsters, swords, and magic in Mass Effect disgusts me! I sent them a VERY detailed e-mail, and they had the GALL to ignore it!?!?!?
I think I'll post a whiny thread about it on their forums.
That'll get 'em!
P.S. : Square Enix doesn't need Romance in Final Fantasy I & II because they had Giant Monsters, Swords, and Magic!!!!1!!!!!1!!!!!

Yeah but I still think the sequel is where they really had good character development.Ecael wrote...

You know what the first secular songs recorded were about? You guessed it. Love songs, popular since the 12th century. How on earth is Bioware supposed to buck an a nearly millennium old trend?
Edit to add: Ecael is my hero.

Now listen here Sword, I'M their target audience. Every game is created for the sole purpose of pleasing me and me only. It is for this reason I am shocked that none of their games have included a single South Park reference. It is scandalous.
That, good sir (Madam?) is quite preposterous. I am the center of the universe, this fact is well known. This is obvious, because I love Firefly, and Zaeed, with all his references to Firefly, was obviously made for my enjoyment specifically.
Plus, they made Talimancing possible.
Case closed.

Well, I do think that Colon's Gate II: Sphincters of Amn (as illustrated by MessyPossum) was much more in-depth.SuperMedbh wrote...
Serious answer in a non-serious thread. How many blockbuster movies have romance as either the main plot point or a side plot? And I mean romance, not just anatomically questionable female characters in uncomfortable clothing.
