I was sarcastic, no need to take this seriously. I don't think any romance is realy forced upon anyone. But yeah, it's funny that a bi or gay femShep is okay but maleShep must be straight. One can only speculate on why.J4N3_M3 wrote...

Annie_Dear wrote... No, there's the Paramour achivement. The OP is forced to romance someone.
And if there should be same sex romance even those that dislikes that kind of thing would be forced to do that. This would make them gay as well so therefore same sex romance is a big no no.
PS: if you look at it that way and speak of "forcing" then the same sex romances are literally forced up on FemShep-players with Liara, Tali & Kelly. I haven't seen ANY male Shepard that has been "forced" into a same sex relationship. So if you want to be a nit-picker here, one could say that this is discriminating towards female players since they are "forced" into dealing with a same sex romance while male players aren't. Just saying...
I know that you weren't being serious, yet I find this a very interesting subject.
As for the "why"...a few theories:
1) lesbian action is considered "hot"
2) a straight girl is considered to have less of a problem dealing with ******- or bi-sexuality than a straight guy
3) a straight guy "could" feel offended in his "manhood" or "honor" or "ego" if he had to face a character in-game that was "hitting on him".
I'm just listing steretypes here that I've come across the internet. ;)all three leading to the conclusion that being Lesbian is okay, even bi is okay, as long as it's the lesbian-bi-kinda way while being a gay guy is bad!
that thought is still pretty sad actually....

Man, you tell him. I am offended that he had a sense of humor and made a joke everyone on the thread would get. Why, we should report him merely for making jokes ... or laughing at jokes ... or reading a joke. Damn, glad we have people like you to watch out for us. Besides which, I think you are a troll and you have been reported.

Anyways, I don't see the problem with romance. It's not a mandatory part of the game- you can play through each game without even starting the romance. I don't see any quality problem with the games due to romance. In fact, the one game you point out recently as not having romance (the Awakening expansion) is in several ways inferior to the main game.

Wait, is the OP saying that romances should be cut out because they make the games sell better? That's some- odd reasoning. In reality, if cutting romances causes sales to fall as you suspect (which you really haven't proven) that would be a bad thing for the quality of future games. Less sales means less of a budget for future games, and thus subpar graphics, lackluster voice actors, trimmed down writing staff, and weaker game mechanics.

So, games with romance sell better. Most enjoy them. They are not forced on you and optional (and have no impact on gameplay and story progression). They are almost a trademark feature of BioWare games. Where is the catch?
