Who else wants Alistair back??

But, back to Alistair...he was one of my favorite NPC's in Origins and I was very disappointed not to see him in Awakening. Alistair was useful in combat, a source of humour, likeable, and a sort of moral judge. And what with the Landsmeet and all, he was an important part of the game even if you didn't usually keep him in your party. Plus, I went through all the trouble of building a romance with him and then he just disappeared in Awakening with no explanation whatsoever. A little frustrating since I was hoping the Origins storyline to carry over more.
So do other people want to see Alistair back, too?

Not using Alistair in the next game would be as stupid as if Luke Skywalker was only in the first Star Wars movie. Besides, we need to see him grow up and become like Luke "a jedi badass".
Why create such a decent, engaging character only to use it once and have instead more crap Velanna characters instead? I wanted to throw that freaking elf in a tree.
It's like "Hmm do I want vanilla flavour ice cream or barf flavor?"

I would like to hear from people who share my opinion as I am curious how many other Alistair fans are out there. But if someone feels differently it's no big deal.

Add some thoughtful discussion to the thread then, Mr Wizard. Who's your favorite "must have back" character? Why doth Alistair offend?

If you played a femWarden, then he or Loghain are an integral part of the DA story line. It's their child.lalaith3 wrote...
If there is another DA, I would love to see Alistair back. A lot of people mention Morrigan and the Dark Ritual. But if you want to follow up on the Dark Ritual, Alistair should be back, too. Personally, I would like to see more NPC's from Origins reappear in a DA sequel/expansion pack. I want the decisions I made in Origins to actually affect what happens in a sequel, and I was disappointed that Awakening didn't really seem to do this.
Absolutely! And you should come join us in the gush thread in the Campaign forum, if you have a registered game. Just look for the 2000-page behemoth! So do other people want to see Alistair back, too?

did you really just compare alistair to luke skywalker??? really?? wow
It's not like that. I worship neither.
buuuut....
Luke Skywalker was Bantha poodoo annoying in the first movie. He was whiny and goofy looking. he was also, like Alistair around the same age with a sheltered boring past, living with his uncle. He didn't even kill things as well as Han.
But then Georgie stuck him on the Dagobah system for a few months and he emerged a killah, able to strangle Gamoreans with a simple wave of the hand.

No one is a must have back, I think future plots and character development would become overly contrived and shallow because of it. I would much rather have a new setting and new characters. I don't want DAO2 to turn out to be some sort of pop quality fan service because some people developed irrational emptional attachments to fictional characters. If ya have to know.
I see your point, but I would also hate to see them replaced with mediocre characters (Velanna, ugh!! or goodbye Wrex/ Hello Jacob, meh). I would hope instead that characters that may be brought back would instead progress into something else lke garrus/ tali from ME.

There could be another blight, something in the future concerning the Architect, or something entirely new that I can't think of. I don't want to get another DA game that just feels like a regurgitation of the first and expansion. I LOVED Alistair, he's one of my favorite game characters ever, but I'd rather see the story move on to a new setting and story, preferably set in the future when the original cast wouldn't be around anymore. Maybe they could be mentioned in the lore or something, but that should be the extent of any cameos.

I understood the "dragon age" to be a specific limited period of time on a certain planet and Ferelden is a majorly important country in it. The next story could be on Orlais or something, but would still have to be during the dragon age or else why call it that? How long is the Dragon Age anyways?

But you never see him die. Shale totally busts her rock head through the tower and he escapes.

I wonder how different the story could be and still be called Dragon Age?

I think an age last for 1000 years at least by what was stated in the little codex thing. But when the age began I forget.

Edit: and yeah I think "ages" in the game are 100 years Trix, though I'm not the biggest Lore buff.
