i hate allister. he is my carth.

Is that face because you disagree with my comment or because you hate carth aswell? or both? or neither?

Posted Image to you to then.

Yes, it was meant toward you. And I'm certain Alistair hates you too <_<

oh im sure he does. I kill him with every playthrough I have. Off he goes to the dungeon. I rather enjoy it because everytime I meet him I try to tell him he's going to eventually go off to the dungeon but he never listens. Silly man continues to argue with the mage instead of understanding his inevitable fate. Thick headed I suppose. Posted Image

He won't be coming back in my game - he died at the Landsmeet.

And yes, I can see the Alistair-Carth comparison. During my first playthrough I was thinking the same thing. At least Carth didn't make the funny faces when getting depressed. To me Carth did a better job with his depressed moments than Alistair.

I've always assumed the reason we haven't seen any returning origins characters is because the voice actors have better things to do. Sure, Alistair was a good character, but I won't be upset or angry if he's not included in the next one. Besides, I don't think the next one will take place in the next 30 years, so he'll be dead anyway. Oh well.

I don't mind him returning, but I would rather have another old party member or a new character in his place. Alistair as a party member isn't very plausible to me, since he's the king and has all his royal duties to do.Also, kings and battlefields in DA don't seem to mix, do they Cailan?

Oh and Hayllee, I love your avatar's hair. Expression too.

I love Alistair.. he was a good tank for me and he was the funniest guy around. Him instead of Oghren (he's funny to, but...).

I didn't care for him in Dragon Age Origins, honestly. Since I played a male character and wanted to date another male character, my choice was limited to Zevran which became a stronger asset in my team by the end of DAO. My only wish though is that they're going to bring back pretty much from DAO and DAO-Awakening in DAO2. Canon or not.

Yes, I would want him back if the story continues with my current warden. Everything other would feel..wrong. Playing female noble I quite enjoyed his small appearence in Awakening.

****SPOILER*****

and it felt really strange to read, that the warden will disappear five years later. Can´t imagine the situation in witch my PC would leave her husband. I don´t mind if I have to start with a new character in the next game, but if not I wish they would left her in peace at the court.

****END of SPOILER****

If there is another DA, I would love to see Alistair back. A lot of people mention Morrigan and the Dark Ritual. But if you want to follow up on the Dark Ritual, Alistair should be back, too. Personally, I would like to see more NPC's from Origins reappear in a DA sequel/expansion pack. I want the decisions I made in Origins to actually affect what happens in a sequel, and I was disappointed that Awakening didn't really seem to do this.

But, back to Alistair...he was one of my favorite NPC's in Origins and I was very disappointed not to see him in Awakening. Alistair was useful in combat, a source of humour, likeable, and a sort of moral judge. And what with the Landsmeet and all, he was an important part of the game even if you didn't usually keep him in your party. Plus, I went through all the trouble of building a romance with him and then he just disappeared in Awakening with no explanation whatsoever. A little frustrating since I was hoping the Origins storyline to carry over more.

So do other people want to see Alistair back, too?

It may sound unrealistic to want this, but:

I would like the next expansion, if there is one, to have all Origins characters return as playables, as well as whichever Awakening characters choose to stick with the Warden, and a few new characters specially for the next expansion. I know... Relatively impractical, whatever.

But yes I want Alistair and Morrigan especially to return in the next expansion, BOTH as playables :wizard:

@Bahlgan, to me not unrealistic in my world and i agree. To Bioware maybe. But I think it would fun to have a rather large choice my problem would is who to choose to go. I definately want Anders, he makes a badass mage in my opinion.Posted Image Just please please let the conversation be system like DAO.

Hah Anders. Well he might be a cool mage, but to me he is Alistair as a mage. How different is he other than his face and comedy though? It's good to see someone though who appreciates awesome and kind chars! Here I was thinking that I was talking to a brick wall.

And from what I hear, yes Awakening conversation system was a tad... Exhausting. I wouldn't mind the occasional "go here to trigger X and Y conversations." The occasional, not abundant. But the vast majority of all conversations need to be Origins based, with a tad bit of pacing to do. Most topics should be spaced out throughout various parts of the game instead of being accessed at the very beginning.

I want all the LIs back (my favourite would be Zevran)

If the story continues with the warden I think it makes good story sense to have continuation of LI. Zevran & Leliana are, for me, the most obvious ones to return back as party members. I agree with DrunkDeadman that Alistair is a bit more tricky if he's king of Ferelden although I think the most positive ending for Alistair is with Anora as queen which would make his return easy enough. Morrigan as a party member seems VERY unlikely to me, although I'm sure she'll be an important figure.

I don't think that the flexibility that there was to recruit characters (or not) to your DA party need have much of an effect on who would return. If a returning character in DA2 was killed or not recruited in a DA save import then maybe that will just mean you have one less party member to choose from.

I'm actually happy to have all DA characters return, but it's the LIs that are a crucial aspect of many of our PCs continuing story.

I would loooove for Alistair to make a return; so much so that when I heard about the character import function, I replayed the game and <SPOILER> made Alistair sleep with Morrigan to save him from sacrificing himself </SPOILER>...yeah, I get a bit carried away with Alistair. My boyfriend hates him dearly.

To enforce continuity, it would be nice if DA:O (or even DA:O-A) characters were referred to at least, if not available for party members once more...I dream of a party selection screen with a good twenty-odd characters to choose from...No; you can't make friends with them all, but that's life. You'd just pick the ones you like, be able to lose a few without impairing your range of skills, and then have an epic battle at the end, with a couple dozen of your party members cutting sick on the battlefield!

Nevermind Alistair, now we have to worry about even having our OWN customized characters to come back. WTF is going on with Bioware?

What would the future king/present grey warden/dead idiot/drunken loser be doing in the Free Marshes? There is no blight, and I doubt Ferelden has any business with them...

They can always invent any reason to include him in the game, its their universe. If they think its critical to have Alistair included to tell the story (which we know next to nothing about at this point) or they simply think it will help them sell more games, they'll do it.

I imagine he will at least have a cameo somewhere if he isnt dead on your save file.

If DA2 had been about the warden then yes I would have wanted him back since all my wardens fell head over heels in love with him. But seeing Alistair without my warden in DA2 would just feel wrong.

Considering I let the stubborn fool talk himself into being executed (ah fond, happy - funny - memories), I do not particularly value an Alistair comeback.

But yeah - give me my Warden back Bioware!

He would not be my top choice in party members from Origins to bring over to different games.

That being said, I thought he was a good overall character with some good casual humor thrown in (those are my "deep" thoughts). He was nowhere near as fun to talk with as Sten, Leliana, or Morrigan - purely my opinion. His banter with Morrigan was top class though.

I wouldn't mind Alistair being in future games. Unfortunately, he would most likely be a drunk, an exile, or both in pretty much all of my games if they carried over - I almost always put Anora on the throne and keep Loghain alive.

Well he is favourite so I imagine he will make an apperance. But I always prefer having new characters in a new game.

I hope Sten comes back too.

I propose a military unit: Maric's Bastards. That should keep everyone happy.
