Hehe. I think Lupus took it the right way in the beginning. There are SO MANY OCs that are dreadfully awful in other fanfics I've read.

No, don't worry, I realized it was a compliment. I can count on one hand the fics with OCs that I actually like, so I know exactly what you mean. I tried pretty hard not to make them cookie-cutter Warden Sues.

I did that once and uploaded two chapters within 30 minutes of each other (the second chapter is my favorite ever and I just wanted to get it out). The only impact it seemed to have was that everyone reviewed them both together rather than separately.

I had to go ahead and update. I got angry anti-cliffhanger emails. Which is funny since I never get those when I don't reveal who lives or dies in a Joining or whatever up in the air!

And finally cought up to date. Great story and pretty believable situation. At chapter 29 I realized who your Anders remeinded me the most of, a cheerful/not as cynical Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly/Serenity. Though I was kind of sad you just deus exed Valanna out, I rather liked her. Admitadly, my only Awakening playthrough was with my Dalish warden who, I understand, gets treated better then the other origins.



And several epic wins for Jowan. I normally have trouble seeing how anyone could be friends with him in the brief, but usually aborted mage playthroughs, but after this, I can guess.



I assume the current Grand Idiot er... Cleric is not Mother Mellnol(Mennol? Bah the Chantry mother from the Cousland's castle) since she struck me as devout but not a throat-slitting-mage-babies fanatic the current one keeps coming across as.



Looking forward to next chapters.

Thank you! I ADORE Firefly/Serenity so that comparison gave me a big grin. I've watched the whole thing all over again recently since I was introducing a friend to it. Maybe hints of it snuck into my writing without my realizing it. I admit, the Jowan friendship is mostly my own invention, but I figure since the game tells you that he was your friend there had to be SOMETHING there. You just get to see him on what may be two of the worst days of his life.



The Velanna thing is actually one of the potential epilogues for her if you save the city instead of the Keep and she's not in your group. It seemed a bit hand-wavey to me, too, but I tried to keep her and Justice's endings canon.



The grand cleric isn't Mother Mellol(?). I didn't think she survived the core game, actually. There was a body in Howe's dungeon that looked a lot like her next to one that looked a lot like Ser Gillmore.

Mal: If anything happens to her, anything at all, I swear to you, I will get very choked up. Honestly, there could be tears.



Couldn't say why, but when I read Anders' line, it sounded in my head as the exact same inflection as Mal's below it.
