I think Greagoir is ultimately a good person. He strikes me as someone who wants to do the right thing. I don't think he hates all mages, he seems to actually be friends with Irving, but he also totally, completely, unquestioningly believes everything he's been told by the Chantry. So for him, disliking and distrusting Maggie is logical- she doesn't believe those things and that makes her suspect in his mind.

He hasn't quite been able to reconcile "mages outside the circle are a danger" with "this mage outside the circle has only done good things" which leads to him assuming the worst and acting like an ass.

Ahhh... Tea with Templars. :D

Always liked Greagoir, even if I never 'side' with the Templars in the Circle. As high-handed as he acts in the mage origin/Broken Circle I never really doubted he didn't honestly think he was doing what he thought was best for Feralden. Even if he didn't seem too open to opposing arguments.

Will be looking forward to Maggie's Origin run, though not seeing Anders will be decidedly odd. :) If you're still looking for a story title for it, might I suggest Freedom through Duty?

Greagoir totally means well.  He's high-handed, but that's sort of his job, so I can't blame him for that.  Maggie can, sure, but she's slowly figuring out he's not as much an enemy as she believed.

Yeah, it'll be odd writing her with someone who isn't Anders. But I'll give it a go. I posted the first two chapters today.

Excellent chapter as always.

As a hypothetical question, if Maggie and Anders were to have a child, do you think its first word would be "darkspawn", the name of a spell, or something vulgar?

Hm... with their luck it would be a curse word. I don't think either of them plan their words out enough to filter language around a child. Really, they'd be... well, horrible parents. Especially Maggie. They would certainly both mean well and try, but I don't think either of them would have the faintest idea what to do with a kid. There's a good reason no one ever asks either of them to babysit.

"Maggie, your daughter cast her first spell."

"Really! Great! Wait... why is she my daughter?"

"She cast a fireball at Ser Pounce!"

"...Ah."

So.... I have an absurd amount of the prequel already written. I've been sitting on it too long without posting, apparently.

The 'don't act insane' plan

(confession: I could totally post two more chapters right now. But I'm trying to keep them a day apart at least.)

Blue Skies updated...

But that wasn't the point!

Ahhh... and Duncan infects.. err.. inflicts... Maggie onto an unsuspecting Fereldan. :D

Take it Mags didn't really approve of Lily. Beyond the whole priest/mage thing. Still a good chapter. Picking up Daveth in Denerim or is this going to be a failed City Elf recruitment?

I think, at that point in time, it would take A LOT for her to feel like anyone was good enough for him. But the priest thing certainly didn't help.

I <3 Maggie Amell. I really, really do. She's like that crazy cousin you get warned about, only to realize that since you're already in trouble, you might as well hang out with her because she's WAY more fun than the grown-ups. :)

Also, I am LOVING seeing the trouble that she and Jowan get into together. good stuff!

I love Jowan. I had to bring him back in the other story, he's got so much potential for awesome. And the sharing of embarrassing childhood stories. He's good for that.

Duncan has taken control of my muse. More Blue Skies today.
Anders smut... soonish.

I'll just have to go for the eyes

Hate to bring up something from 2 days ago, but I think sterility might be a "benefit" of being a Grey Warden for Maggie and Anders. At least the way I've been seeing them so far...

Back to more recent things, Jowan is definately awesome. I've heard a rumor that he was going to be a permanent companion, but that got cut. Supposedly a companion Jowan would be "less whiney."

...Is it sad that I think Jowan is awesome even when he whines?

Edit: "Go for the eyes?" Must catch up!

Oh, it's DEFINITELY a benefit for them, and they've both said as much. And since Maggie grew up in the Circle where any mage's children are automatically given to the Chantry it's not like a lifelong hope was destroyed when she found out or anything.

And Jowan was supposed to be recruitable in Redcliffe. I wish I could find toolset-savvy people to help with a mod on that, since I would happily write the dialogue for it.

(I can't believe I made it this long without a go for the eyes, boo! reference. I really can't.)

Long chapter is liked. :)

And the points on Jowan and the time table for Eamon's poisoning is one of the largest points of annoyance for me as well. So you've worked in the Dwarf Commoner, Dwarf Noble and Human Noble, only the two elves left.

I know it's a Zev romance but I'm really, REALLY looking forward to the interactions between Maggie and Alistair, considering how much fun they have with each other in Apostates and Never Boring. Should be a hoot.

Not to mention Wynne. So glad you're writing this!

That and the Dwarven origins have the biggest reality connect for me in terms of time, since you can hit Orzammar first as a male DN who took the noble hunters up on their offer and find your kid is already born.  (Or as any DC and find your nephew has been born.)

I'd like to think I'm not diverging from canon, I'm simply showing the parts of the game that were cut since camping and walking don't make for good gameplay.

They get off to a rocky start but definately have their fun once both are reassured the other isn't out to kill them.

Maggie and Wynne... lets say things start badly, and don't get much better.  We'll just say Maggie's game includes a certain dialogue mod for Wynne...

I'm having an absurd amout of fun writing crazed young Maggie.  Which is good since the dense politics of the other one were starting to get to me, and my fear of it reaching the end soon.

I'm wondering if I should tag it as Amell/Zevran.  It's just Amell for now since Zevran won't show up for a while, but to anyone who'se read the other stories there's no secret about it being an eventual Zevran romance.

The Orzamarr gate guards also say that it's been a year since my casteless left when I came back on that playthrough and Orzamarr was the second stop. I think the biggest problem is that there's no environmental indications of the seasons changing. All outdoor encounters look like mid to late summer with the sole exception of Return to Ostagar.

I find myself particularly looking forward to Wynne's 'introduction' dialogue when Maggie gets to Ostagar.

"Margaret? Maker, what was Irving thinking letting you out? Please don't cause trouble here, military justice will see you stabbed, not lectured at."

Mags: "And yet you're lecturing me already. How nice, it's like I never left."

If Maggie could heal a papercut... Oh, wynne would have found herself abandoned on the side of the road.

Also, updated.

Did I say crazed bloodthirsty killer?

So here it is, the one scene from her past Maggie mentioned that more people have asked to include in the prequel than anything else. Seriously, like a dozen different people have asked me if I would include this bit. How could I not?

And with those kind of expectations on it, I really hope it works and everyone likes it.

This chapter? It's an M for sure.

Blue Skies ch. 7: I only feel kind of bad. Not really bad.

Thank you! And yes, all hail the gentlemen of the world. Ladies first, indeed! ;)

I'd like to think the stories don't exist in a vacuum, and since we see hints of other origins throughout the game (DC in the carta hideout, Sorris in Howe's dungeon, Jowan free regardless, etc) I think that for each it would be a case of "just missed them" with Duncan.
