I usually think Duncan is the determining factor in 'passing' the Origins. Though not totally.

Human Noble and Mage (if you took the working for Irving path) have the greatest chance of surviving without Duncan. Dwarf Noble may or may not, as the Deep Roads are survivable and he/she could make it to the Legion. The other three though? Dead/Imprisioned without Duncan's intervention.

I agree completely (since I did have Cousland survive.) I mean, it's iffy since Duncan rescued her father, but there's always a chance she escaped on her own, or she and her mother met him and pulled him to safety. All sorts of options there. And dwarf noble could definitely make it to the legion, or maybe even the surface.

I'd like to think the working-for-irving path would guarantee survival, but it seems like Greagoir really didn't care when you get caught. I wonder what would happen...

And... double update today!

Hehe.. Maggie really isn't fond of Wynne. And Big Yay for Zev-gift. Nothing from Leliana yet? I'd think her gift could match Zevran's.

Finally at Ostagar. Really giggling at the dozens of Anders references I keep finding. :D Boy certainly got around on his escapes, hmm?

Well, Wynne did give her a book basically saying relationships lead to possession. Not exactly marriage-appropriate. I'm sure she thought it was sound advice they should read and follow to stay safe, but neither of them would see it that way.

Ohhh... Cliffie. Well, kind of anyways. Does it count as a cliffhanger if we know what's going to happen? Bah, yay for chapter. :) Did turn Flemeth into quite the off-the-wall kook she sometimes comes off as in the game.

Hm. Not sure if that would count as a cliffhanger, actually. maybe?

I could never quite tell if Flemeth was really crazy or Hamlet crazy...

I'm just looking forward to having something to do again. Summer is boring when everyone you know works full time and you're an unemployed student. ;) This is my last semester, though, which is kind of nerve wracking.

Just finished everything you have written (so far). I'm pooped and my eyes aren't working quite right.

First, you have an excellent grasp of characterization. Maggie is a fun character. She is flawed which is always nice to read in fanfic. I loved your take on Anders and was glad to see you toned Oghren down a bit from Awakening without losing his kamikaze level of alcoholism.

I know you think it's filler, but the hen party chapter was my favourite. It established and advanced characterization for several of the newer characters.

I'm tired and I'm blaming you. Just so you know. :D

Thank you! I try to make all the characters at least a little screwed up. Crazy people are just more fun to write. She is probably the worst of them, though. Since it's written from her perspective I feel like I have to balance out that I only show her view of things.

Update-ish...

Liked how you worked conversations from the game in as a normal conversation and not as the whining/interrogating the game makes it out to be. And yay Leliana. (My favorite DA character. Only two PTs didn't have her as my romance. :) )

Bad Alistair, bad, bad timing. 'Oh yes, take a good look around here. 'Cause it's going to be your grave in a couple decades in a best case scenario'.

I've started reading your first Maggie story! I love it so far! And I love Maggie, she reminds me of my own Rhia but more cheerful :) I'm glad that she and Alistair made peace with each other and are friends again :)

That actually is where I triggered the conversation on my first playthrough.  All I could think was "if this was real I'd be super disturbed," so I had to work that in.

And thank you re: conversations.  I tried to do the same thing in my first maggie story, and it seemed to work out.    Some of the disussions seem too important to setting up the character of various people to just skip (like Leliana's growing up in Orlais), but the bizarre q & a format is just... odd.  Works in game, but doesn't read as a normal conversation when you actually look at it.

Thank you!  I actually set out to try and create a character who would be honestly happy as a Grey Warden, since a lot of the stories have wardens who seem reluctant or unhappy, or just quit.  I figured someone who thinks it's just the very best thing ever would be interesting.  (and I wanted something with minimal angst since I just can't write decent angst to save my life.)
It seems like if Alistair knew about the "someone will die" thing he would have been all for recruiting Loghain, so once he did know I figured making peace wouldn't be difficult.

I like that Maggie enjoys being a Grey Warden. In my early playthroughs all my chars remained wardens and I was puzzled when friends were telling me that their chars went back to their families. I was like: "B-but what about the "in peace vigilance" part? Who will rebuild the order?" I just couldn't choose another option. :)

I thought the same thing. And when playing a mage I always got so annoyed whenever Wynne would start her bit about going back to the circle. There are TWO wardens in the country, doesn't she see they need the player a lot more than the circle? It drove me nuts there was no dialogue option for that. It was either agreeing or telling her you'd think about it, or something angry that made her approval plummet.

Lol, my Rhiamon lost a lot of Wynne's approval for telling how she really felt about the Circle. But I'm not afraid of losing approval anymore! I have gifts DLC! Everybody will love my witch in the end XD

Oh, I was gigglind all the way back home while reading your story! Thank you very much for it!

I have to post this because it is fantastic. Galagraphia did an AMAZING drawing of Anders and Maggie and I'm completely swooning over it.
