If we could have a tutorial that covered exactly how to bring a module from a blank level to in-game, I'm sure the community would be ecstatic. It doesn't have to be elaborate, but there is so much no one seems to understand; like how to make ambient light, how to create vistas around the level, how to make a bridge, how to create a simple building, etc. Also, no one seems to be able to explain exactly what "posting to local" does, or the various exporting functions. We really need to know what the processing steps are. For example, does posting or exporting autmatically generate lightmaps and pathing, or do we need to perform those steps manually before export? One of my main complaints is the toolset's lack of "progress bars", or some indication that the engine is actually processing. Since I don't know yet what is supposed to happen or how long it's supposed to take, I keep sitting for half an hour for something in the logs to change, only to find out the engine crashed for some reason. Please understand, this is not a rant, just a wish list. I'm curious, is the toolset just a collection of Bioware's in-house tools, or is it a "software package" designed to work with the game engine? If the latter, wouldn't there be some sort of manual that accompanies the product? I'd pay money to get my hands on such a manual.
We really really need a simple how-to and explanation of toolset function.

there's a progress bar in the bottom right hand corner of the toolset.

Ya but it does pause for long periods of time, it only seems to tick when it's finished with whatever it was just processing. Which can sometimes take a while. Seriously, I've had Posts that took 30 seconds and posts that took 10 minutes, on the same level.

There is a project listed for video tutorials from Bioware. I imagine they are planning on releasing these it is just a matter of time. I will not be surprised if someone or group beats them to the punch. They have been dealing with bigger issues as of late. This stuff will come soon.
I must say, I do wish someone would release just a demo. I would just like to see a mod someone made. Even if it was single area. So, anyone need testing feel free to send me some of your work.

I'd love that, as well. This toolset looks incredible, but it's an utter mystery to me. I'm sure there will be some little tutorials popping up as the days go on, but I'd love to see perhaps an official one from Bioware or something like that. :3

for the most part, I think people that are figuring it out are just using it. I myself have an area I'm working on, and conversation trees and characters I'm putting in. I began typing a 'how to create a tint' thing on the wiki, but my writing style isn't very wiki-like, and I kinda figured that if i can figure it out so can you.
I'm not some genius with NWN2's toolset, I just clunk around a bit, and read all the tutorials I found on the wiki. it isn't horrendously easy to use, but that's kind of the point. We aren't making super mario, we're making fully realized 3d worlds, using a game engine that released like a week ago.

Well there are a bunch of us that have put together decent looking areas but this lightmap bug thing has really put a stopper in all our work. That's why u haven't seen anything like that already coming out.

yeah, I have read the wiki, and its like they are talking to a coworker that has had some experience with it, they will say to do something but how to get there or anything, very frusterating and useless wiki if you ask me.

I agree. I have built some small levels but cant seem to take them past the area stage. It would be great to get a quick simple tutorial. Even if it was a simple as creating a pond with a tree and NPC to talk to about the weather and then how to start playing it. Im sure they will come, but im impatient.

Maybe we can just role play that we're in a barren land with no water and the dirt is always pitch black

I'm sure it will happen eventually once the mod community develoups more. Its been like 6 days since the game came out, and 2 days since the editor? I haven't even beat the game once yet.
