So after initial installation problems regarding the configuration launcher being force closed, that was fixed by the 1.02 patch. Now I can load the launcher and edit the configuration etc etc.

the new problem is that upon clicking "PLAY" the cursor goes idle for a few moments, then boom. nothing.

watching task manager files, "mass effect" disappears from the task manager a few seconds after clicking "play"

Launcher can be re-opened but the problem persists. 

Installed off disc onto Windows Vista 64bit.  no problems with the install, seemingly.

I'm posting this for my girlfriend and dont know many more specifics on the machine its running on, I will post those sometime in the AM when I get home from work. Im just wondering if anyone else had this problem and has solved it.  Search resulted in nothing for me.  

(side note: She knows nothing about computers, and I have been running Linux for like 6 years and know nothing about vista, assuming its somehow different then windows 2000 which is the last OS I ran from microsoft. so baby steps please lol)
